The Nile: from Aswan to Luxor V i 1 Version 1.0 0 These programmes on The World of Ancient Art been designed for students and the public. They use material on the web to show the wealth of information that is available. il bl They Th are visual i l with ith many images i and d minimal i i l text. t t The Th urll given for each image enables users to learn more about any subject. Particular attention has been given to highlighting both the scholarly websites and the p public resources of social networking g sites,, Wikipedia p and Google Earth/Maps. The first programmes begin with the great riverine cultures of antiquity. Those on other parts of the ancient world will be phased in during 20112011 2012. All programmes will be updated regularly. The World of Ancient Art (www.waa.ox.ac.uk) is being designed as a web-based collaborative research platform, initially for the School of Archaeology in the University of Oxford. When firmly established it will welcome contributions from scholars and the public. As part of CLAROS (www.clarosnet.org), the site will use emerging t h l i to technologies t deliver d li scholarly h l l information i f ti in i accessible ibl formats f t to t a global community of users.
