010 has held challenges, opportunities, and thankfully some successes!
We are far from being where we
would like to be, but here are a few
things to celebrate this holiday season:
the process was not fun the results
have returned us to profitability. As
new vehicle sales continue to grow, so
will our profits and the value of our
businesses.
New Vehicle Sales Are Up – Not every
brand and not every segment, but the
market has stabilized and is starting to
grow thanks to increased availability of
financing, growing consumer confidence
and an aging vehicle fleet.

equivalent of the “Miracle on Ice” and
the 1980 US Olympic Hockey team’s
win against Russia. With seemingly

the Obama Administration, the U.S.

a solid argument, Congressman John

The OC Auto Show Sells Cars!
O
nce again, consumers were lined up at the door when
the OC Auto Show opened on Thursday, October 7,
2010. The show provides consumers their fi rst opportunity to see all the new 2011 vehicles all under one
roof. The crowds were thick the entire show as consumers
shopped for their next car.
Over 21% of attendees surveyed said they were
currently looking to purchase a new vehicle. Additionally,
45.3% said they will buy a new vehicle in the next 12
months and they felt the auto show was very influential in
helping them make their decision. Over 80% of car buyers

at the Auto Show were influenced by the ability to see,
touch and sit in the vehicles at the Auto show.
Consumers loved the opportunity to test drive new
vehicles from Buick, Chevrolet, Ford, GMC, Toyota and
the new Nissan LEAF. “This year’s Auto Show exceeded
everyone’s expectations,” said Auto Show Chairman Paul
Lunsford. “A large part of the success is attributed to the
continuous support from Orange County’s dealers and a
great partnership with Orange County Register. Next
year’s show will take place September 22nd through the
25th and promises to be even bigger!”

latest models and the exhibits. Dealers and their guests crowded around the OC Register booth for a chance to win Free
Advertisements and Ducks tickets, compliments of the OC Register.

hands-on competition held January 22, 2011.

27 Orange County Students Awarded $20,000
in Automotive Technology Scholarships
T
hroughout the year, OCADA actively supports Orange County’s local high school and college automotive technology
programs by encouraging and providing opportunities for students to pursue a career at a new vehicle dealership.
Each year the Association hosts the annual OCADA High School Automotive Technology Competition, coordinates
internships at dealerships and sends out representatives to the local colleges to make presentations to the automotive
technology classrooms.
OCADA has become a valuable resource and has helped secure scholarships for the students participating in these
programs. We are proud to announce that through these efforts 47% of the scholarships awarded by the California New
Car Dealers Scholarship Foundation were given to Orange County students to pursue their automotive technology studies.
We congratulate the 27 students on their achievement and look forward to seeing them hard at work in an Orange
County auto dealership soon!

Biography:
Prior to his election to the legislature,
Norby served on the Orange County
Board of Super v isors for 7 years,
representing Fullerton, La Habra,
Placentia, Buena Park and Anaheim.
Norby served on the Fullerton City
Council from 1984-2002, including three
years as Mayor.
Norby has been a strong advocate
for fiscal reform. His program, FRESH
- “Fiscal Reform: Equity, Stability,
Harmony” - seeks to distribute property
and sales tax dollars to local governments
more fairly and equitably.
As author of “Redevelopment: The
Unknown Government,” Norby has
analyzed the distortions caused by
fiscalization of land use, sales tax
competition and eminent domain
abuse. Norby serves as State Chair of
Municipal Officials for Redevelopment
Reform (MORR) and moderates regional
meetings seeking to curb abuses.
As a Chair man of the Orange
County Transportation Authority,
Norby supported greater design-build
flexibility and a rational approach to
public transit. Norby also serves as
Vice-Chairman of the Fiscal Reform
Committee on the Southern California
Association of Governments and on the
OC Sanitation District.
Norby graduated from Occidental
College (a few years before Obama’s
arrival) and received his M.A. in History
from Cal State Fullerton. He’s a member
of the Fullerton Elks Lodge, Sons of
Norway and First Presbyterian Church.

t was quite a night. Republicans were
returned to the majority in the House
yesterday with the largest change in
House seats since 1948. We picked up 6
seats in the Senate, 19 state legislatures,
and many governorships across the
country. And, it’s all thanks to you, the
voting public, who would not go quietly
into submission to ever larger, more oppressive government and ever reducing
hope and aspirations. You sent a message
last night, and it was a resounding one.
Thank you again and again.
I was reelected with what appears to
be the largest margin of my congressional
career, in spite of being heavily outspent
by my opponent.
Thank you for your trust, support
and confidence. I am honored and truly
humbled by it.
But, now the real work begins. This
election was much more a rejection of
the policies of Obama and Pelosi than it
was approval of what Republicans have
done. We have much to prove in the next
2 years.
