The SMS Notify 2004 Window
This is the main window which shows contacts
which are on your Mobile devices phone memory
(Contacts must be on the mobile device and
not the SIM card)
Any contact listed here can have events assigned
to them. (The demo release can only assign
an event to one person at any time)
The Options button allows you to assign all allowed events to contacts on
your device. See later on in the manual for a more detailed explanation of the
event types.
Contact Info
This provides a quick Pop up window detailing the users phone number,
messages received, Events assigned and a sample of the image assigned to
the contact.

The Spam Guard Bar
The SPAM Guard bar alerts you to the status of SPAM rules. The indicters
show what rules are set up for all incoming messages, and also what rule(s)
are assigned for the current user.
The various icons on the SPAM guard bar will highlight when a rule is inforce.
Global Content Filter
When active, the recycle bin will highlight and means that words have been
specified to check incoming SMS messages against. If any of the Global
Content Filter words are found in any of the incoming SMS messages, that
message will either be deleted or moved to the recycle bin on the device,
depending on what rules you have set up for such actions.
Block unknown Users
When active, the person with red circle bar will be highlighted. This means
that any incoming SMS messages which are not contained within your
contacts on your mobile device (This does not include your SIM card) their
SMS message will either be deleted or moved to the recycle bin , depending
on what rules you have setup for such actions.
User Content Filter
The user with the speech bubble indicates that a content filter rule has been
setup for the current selected user. This means that when SMS messages
arrive from this person, the content of the messages will be matched up with
any words specified for this user which are deemed to be unsuitable and if
any matches are found their message will be deleted or moved to the recycle
bin depending on what rules you have setup for such actions.

SMSNotify 2004 SPAM Guard
SMSNotify 2004 Version 2.2 comes embedded with SPAM Guard.
SPAM Guard allows you to take control of your inbox and who can and can’t
send messages to you.
SMSNotify 2004 SPAM Guard allows you to do the following:
•
•
•
Block ALL unknown contacts which are not within your contacts list on
your device (This does not include your SIM card contacts)
Block all SMS messages which contain words which you specify as
inappropriate.
Block a specific user from sending SMS messages to you.
SMSNotify SPAM Guard works at the global level (That is, validate ALL
incoming SMS Messages) or at the user level (Only apply rules on SMS
messages from specific contacts which you have assigned SPAM Guard rules
to)
NOTE: The Global SPAM Guard rules are not available in the DEMO
Version
Global Spam Guard Rules (Not available in DEMO Version)
From the main SMSNotify 2004 window, click
OPTIONS -> SETTINGS (7) -> SPAM GUARD (6)
from here you can specify the rules to put in effect
for all incoming SMS messages.
If this is the first time you have seen this dialog,
the Check box for the content filter will be grayed
out. This is because no Content Filter words have
been specified. Click OPTIONS -> Update Content
Filter (2) to enter words. Once you have done this
the option will be available.
This screen also allows you to specify a tone to play whenever a message
which is considered as SPAM has been intercepted; conversely you can set it
so no SPAM tone is played at all.

Global Spam Guard Actions (Not available in DEMO Version)
From the SPAM Guard global page, click OPTIONS > Set Spam Actions (1) to get this dialog.
The Global SPAM actions dialog allows you to
specify what you want to happen to any incoming
SMS message which is marked as SPAM.
The default setting is to send it to your recycle
trash folder. This means that a copy of the
message will be available for you to read still if you
wish.
If delete on arrival is selected, the SMS message will be permanently deleted
and will no longer be available on the device. This is a PERMANENT delete
option so use with caution.
Block Single User
To block a particular user, select them in the main
SMSNotify window, click OPTIONS -> Events(3) ->
Spam Guard (8) -> Block User(1)
If you do this, then any SMS messages received
from this user will be deleted or sent to the recycle
bin depending on the SPAM actions you have set.
This will only block this user and has no effect on
any other users.
When this option is active, No other events will
occur for this user.
User Content Filter
To set up a content filter for a particular user, click OPTIONS -> EVENTS(3) > Spam Guard (8) -> Set Content Filter(3)
Any words specified here will take effect only for
the user specified. If that user then sends a SMS
Message with any of the words contained within
this dialog, then their message will be handled as
SPAM and acted on accordingly.

User SPAM Actions
Just like the global spam actions, you can specify
what you want to happen to SMS messages treated
as spam when rules are set for particular users.
This gives you the flexibility to delete messages
permanently for one group of users, and send SMS
messages to the recycle bin from other users. How
you handle messages marked as SPAM is up to
you. A custom SPAM action can be set for each
individual contact on your device if preferred.
SPAM Guard Global Vs User settings
SMSNotify SPAM Guard gives you a lot of flexibility on how you handle
incoming SMS messages. You have the ability to do this at the global level,
and also create rules for each individual user.
When a global rule is in force, it will override any user specific rules which
may be in place.
For example, if a global content filter rule has been setup to trash all SMS
messages which contain the word SPAM, then this will be actioned on
immediately and any further user rules which may be active will not be
carried out.

SMS Notify Contact Reminder
SMSNotify 2004 Version 2.2 now comes with
Contact Reminder built in.
Contact Reminder allows you to set a SMS
reminder event to a specific contact. If active,
when that user sends a SMS message, a dialog will
be displayed with the user’s name, the reminder
interval, and any associated custom tone will be
played as well.
If you click OK for this dialog, then no more events
for this user will occur.
If however, you do not acknowledge this reminder
dialog, then based on the timer interval you have set in the application
settings, every X minutes the reminder dialog for this user will be bought to
the foreground of your mobile device, any custom SMS tones will play again,
and optionally your device will vibrate to remind you that you have a message
to read.
This will continue occurring based on the frequency you have specified until
the reminder dialog is acknowledged.
Specifying SMS Reminder Events.

main SMSNotify window, click OPTIONS ->
SETTINGS(&) -> SMS Reminder(3)
From here you can specify the reminder frequency
for the popup’s per contact, and optionally set the
