Ariat® Pro-Team Athlete Pete Comiskey
talks to us about his achievements,
motivations and his love of campdrafting.
Born in Rockhampton, Pete Comiskey grew up
riding horses on his family’s cattle property, and
competed in his first campdraft at 8 years of age.
A lifetime of passion, commitment and determination
has enabled Pete to become one of the most
accomplished competitors in the uniquely Australian
sport of campdrafting.

new heights. Alongside his passion for campdrafting, follows
his love of the community and the relationships in which he
developed along the way. “Campdrafting is something for the
whole family”, Pete mentioned, as it is this community and
lifestyle which created a great environment to raise a family.
While he has a long list of titles against his name, he notes
his greatest achievements are his three beautiful sons.
Establishing himself in the industry, Pete has achieved a
level of success unlike any other athlete in the history of the
sport. Pete’s faultless performance has been recognised
through an impressive list of career achievements, including
winning title of The Warwick Gold Cup, Warwick Canning
Downs, Charters Towers Gold Cup, The Clermont Gold Cup
and Paradise Lagoons, as well as 20 time winner of the
Australian Campdraft Association Champion Open Rider.
Pete Comiskey has been an Ariat sponsored athlete for
20 years, being signed onto the Pro-Team after Ariat
became a major sponsor partner of the Australian
Campdraft Association. Like Ariat, Pete values performance,
quality and comfort. While announcing the Ariat Acton as his
boot of choice, he states that as an athlete, it is important to
wear footwear that provides first class quality for competing,
as well as comfort for everyday wear. “As far as campdrafting
goes, you’ve got to have a good beast, but you’ve got to have a
great pair of boots too… I’m looking for support, I’m
looking for something that I can control my animal with,
I want to be able to put a spur on it. But I really want
something that’s comfortable.”
When questioned on his motivation for competing in
campdrafting, Pete commented that it was a combination
of each aspect of the sport that motivates him to compete,
specifically enjoying the competition in recent years as the
