FOAMGLAS® insulation - FOAMGLAS® Pittsburgh Corning
FOAMGLAS® insulation Insulation for the food and beverage processing industry Protecting Companies and Their People Worldwide™ Pittsburgh Corning FOAMGLAS® insulation properties 4 key characteristics of FOAMGLAS® insulation that benefit food and beverage manufacturing plants: Non-combustible FOAMGLAS® insulation cannot burn because it consists of pure glass. Fire behaviour: classification Euroclass A1 to EN 13501 or ASTM E84 (flame spread 0/Smoke development 0). Advantage: prevents fire spread and smoke, protects processing equipment and buildings. Pest-proof FOAMGLAS® insulation is inorganic. Advantage: It does not provide a food or nesting source for birds or vermin, and does not support the growth of microorganisms and bacteria. Vapor-tight FOAMGLAS® insulation is impervious to liquids and vapor because it consists of hermetically-sealed glass cells. Advantage: prevents contamination and wicking. Constant thermal insulation value over decades. FOAMGLAS® cellular glass insulation combines its unique features to maximize performance for companies specializing in the food and/or beverage processing industry. Strong and stable FOAMGLAS® insulation will support loads and will not distort with temperature change. Advantage: no swelling or buckling. Low coefficient of expansion, nearly equal to that of steel and concrete. Because it is composed of glass, FOAMGLAS® insulation will not burn and will not promote, or contribute to, toxic smoke or flame spread. It provides outstanding protection for personnel and the facility because it won’t absorb flammable liquids and, in the case of a fire, will not burn and emit toxic gases. FOAMGLAS® insulation has a long history of being the insulation material of choice for hot oils: thermal transfer fluids and cooking oils. In these application fields, process temperatures are high and wicking fires are an ever-present risk with other insulation systems. FOAMGLAS® insulation cannot wick oils and so cannot be the cause of insulation wicking fires in any application where hot oils are present. For hot and cold applications, FOAMGLAS® insulation will contain and prevent the spread of fire. This makes FOAMGLAS® insulation the safest material for the food and beverage processing industry. FOAMGLAS® insulation systems Solutions for food and beverage processing industries FOAMGLAS® insulation is a lightweight, rigid material composed of millions of completely sealed glass cells. Each cell is an insulating entity. FOAMGLAS® insulation for cold piping and vessels FOAMGLAS® insulation is used extensively to insulate and protect cold processes. Because it is impermeable to water vapour and dimensionally stable, it gives the best protection for cold systems against loss of thermal performance and ice formation. StrataFab® system for extremely hot or cold conditions, above or below ground. With the patented StrataFab® System, blocks of FOAMGLAS® insulation are laminated into billets using a special high temperature adhesive. These billets are fabricated into the desired shapes and sizes for practically any industrial application. The StrataFab® System’s sandwiched construction provides built-in expansion and contraction joints, which accommodate thermally induced dimensional movement. FOAMGLAS® insulation’s all-glass, closed-cell structure provides the following benefits: FOAMGLAS® insulation is used by clients in the food and beverage production industries including: • • • • • • • • • • • • • constant insulating efficience zero water vapor permeability moisture resistance fire protection corrosion resistance long-term dimensional stability vermin resistance CFC and HCFC free Heineken Premier Foods Coca-Cola Nestlé Paris fish market • • • • • Gingsters Billingsgate fish market Labatt Hershey Anheuser-Busch InBev Pittsburgh Corning USA (Corporate Headquarters) 800 Presque Isle Drive Pittsburgh, PA 15239 Telephone: 1-724-327-6100 FAX: 1-724-387-3807 www.foamglas.com Pittsburgh Corning Corporation Asia (Asia Headquarters) Pittsburgh Corning Corporation 3-7-4-304 Hikarigaoka Nerima-ku, Tokyo, Japan 179-0072 Telephone & Fax: 011 81-3-5997-0248 Pittsburgh Corning Europe NV (Europe / Middle East Africa Headquarters) Albertkade, 1 B-3980 Tessenderlo Belgium Telephone: +32-13-66-17-21 Fax: +32-13-66-78-54 © February 2011 The information contained herein is accurate and reliable to the best of our knowledge.
