IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR RESIDENTS
CITY OF PERTH AUSTRALIA DAY SKYWORKS
The City of Perth presents the Australia Day Skyworks event each year on 26 January. Skyworks is the
largest community event in Western Australia and the largest Australia Day event in Australia and
attracts approximately 300,000 to 400,000 people to Perth Water.
The event comprises a variety of free activities for the general public and culminates at 8.00pm in an
exciting 30-minute pyrotechnic and special effects display.
LANGLEY PARK ENTERTAINMENT ZONE
As part of the Australia Day activities, the City of Perth is presenting the Langley Park Entertainment
Zone. The Langley Park Entertainment Zone includes many activities that will attract families to
Langley Park and will be the primary viewing destination in the City for the Skyworks display at 8.00pm.
The Langley Park Entertainment Zone be spread across the entire length of Langley Park in 2013 and
will operate from 3pm to 7.45pm on 26 January 2013. The zone includes the following;
 Circus Joseph Ashton
 Amusement Zone
 Water Playground
 Paintball
 Freestyle Motocross
 Black String Puppet Theatre
 International Food Markets
 Big BBQ
 Roving entertainment
NB: There is no stage entertainment (bands etc) on Langley Park in 2013.
For the first time in 2013, Langley Park will also be the viewing destination for a new ‘Laser and Water
Spectacular’ which is choreographed to the Skyworks display at 8.00pm.
A site plan for the Langley Park Entertainment Zone is attached for your information.
With the loss of the Esplanade and surrounding foreshore space as a result of the Elizabeth Quay
development, Langley Park will be the primary viewing location in 2013, with an increased volume of
spectators expected to the area. In the interest of safety for pedestrians and emergency management
in the event of an emergency, additional road closures are required in 2013 than in previous years.
ROAD CLOSURES NEAR LANGLEY PARK
12noon Closures
Riverside Drive in both directions from the Causeway to the Freeway and access to Barrack Square
will be closed from 12noon on Australia Day. Access to Point Fraser Car Park from the Causeway will
still be available until 7pm. Terrace Road westbound will closed from Victoria Avenue to Plain Street
from 12noon. Victoria Avenue and Plain Street between Terrace Road and Riverside Drive as well as
Governors Avenue will also be closed from 12noon.

During the period of road closure, there can be no entry or exit by vehicles from properties or
businesses within the road closure area. The road closures are officially in place until 11.30pm
however they will be lifted as soon as it is safe to do so following the conclusion of the event. This is to
ensure the safe exit of crowds from the event. Should you be entertaining guests, please ensure that if
they are driving, they arrive prior to the road closure commencing and do not leave until the road is
officially opened. In the case of a medical emergency access or egress will be facilitated.
A map of the Skyworks road closures near your property is attached for your information. We ask that
motorists take care during this time due to the increase in pedestrian traffic in the area.
PARKING RESTRICTIONS – TERRACE ROAD
Parking bays on Terrace Road will be made unavailable from the previous night, Friday 25 January
2013 to ensure no vehicles are parked in bays when the 12noon closure for westbound lanes takes
place. You are requested to observe this restriction as failure may result in an infringement being
issued and the vehicle being towed away, with the owner responsible for recovery costs. Limited
parking will be made available in Bennett Street between Adelaide Terrace and Terrace Road for
holders on residential parking permits. No vehicles will be able to enter Terrace Road once the 7pm
road closure is implemented.
NOISE – LANGLEY PARK
The Langley Park Entertainment Zone does not include bands or musical performances in 2013.
Instead, sound pods will be located around Langley Park playing Mix 94.5FM, who are broadcasting
live from the foreshore.
Set up of the event will take place during normal working hours in the days leading up to Australia Day.
Post-event, there will be some pack up on Sunday 27 January 2013. This will include the emptying and
removal of bins. Contractors will commence work at 6.00am beginning collecting and emptying bins
along the foreshore before moving to Langley Park at approximately 9.00am. This is to reduce noise
impact on residents in the surrounding area.
