You can enjoy our extensive High Tea by reservation.
High tea
De high tea starts at 15.00 p.m. and has a duration of about 3 hours.
Our delicious High tea exists of:
- Limitless joy of our freshly maid tea specialties
- A pastry filled with mushroom stew
- A wide range of luxurious bites such as a variety of mini-sandwiches and a warm
quiche
- A very light bouillon of beef with chervil leaves
- Scones with whipped-cream and jam
- A cake stand with an extensive assortment
of sweet delicacies such as brownies,
bonbons, petit four and other chocolates.
- A glass of freshly squeezed orange juice
- In closing a refreshing spoon
A vegetarian high tea is also a possibility
if you mention it at the reservation.

Welcome at ‘t Opkikkertje
The city of ‘s-Hertogenbosch is closely related with frogs due to its former swampy location. Within the city
you’ll walk into al kinds of images of frogs. The most strongly connection with the frog manifests itself
during Carnival, when ‘s-Hertogenbosch changes into Oeteldonk (the Dutch word ‘oetel’ means frog).
This is an ancient old Christian tradition to start of the time of fasting between Ash Wednesday and Easter.
Its origin began within the southern part of the Netherlands (North-Brabant and Limburg).
Nowadays Carnival is a huge feast for everyone that lasts three days. During these days of Carnival, local
celebrants attach this so-called ‘oetel’ on their festive clothing, to proudly show that they are inhabitants of
‘s-Hertogenbosch and therefor also inhabitants of Oeteldonk. There are also several local products such as
herbal drinks that are named after this little animal. And all of this with the intention to get a boost during
everyday life, as we call it in Dutch an ‘opkikker’. Thus, our name is well chosen, because our main goal is to
give you a boost for the rest of your day.
Whether you are a tourist visiting our beautiful city, or just an everyday visitor, during your visit we are
here to give you a relaxing moment. Not only our hospitality but also our menu with a wide range of
delicious dishes will give you this special boost. Whether you are sitting on our pavement during the
summer or within our cosy walls during the winter, you will always find that special atmosphere that the
city has.
