Well Hello everyone. I hope you all fared well this winter,
and have made it to what looks like a nice spring to start us off. I
am so looking forward to a great summer, The Rams took a cool
trip to Ottawa this past winter, and it was a very nice time, Was
good to see our Northern brother the Ottawa Knights, Been
awhile since we have been able to get to see them, but we finally
made it. And we get the pleasure of hosting the Knights for this
Can-Am weekend in May. And now here we are getting ready to
kick off our 40th year, as 1 of the oldest Leather Club still around.
Yes we are getting older and fewer, but we are still here, Still proud to puff our chests
out, wear our club colors with pride, and still look forward to an even brighter and better
future. We are in the process of refurbishing our club house at the Bachelor forum, and
look forward to welcoming you to visit, and talk and meet us in our club house.
And now we are getting things ready for our anniversary run, on August 24th thru
the 26th. It promises to be a real good time for all, and we hope you will join us for eating
drinking and meeting old and new friends. Please check our=r website for more info and
application. Hope you get your application in early as we will only be able to host about
50 campers. And as usual I will be sure to feed you well.
Other than that, just getting ready for the summer here in the Rochester area.

Last year, by chance I found myself in the presence of a
wonderful man; a few years younger than me, good looking,
successful, a northeast accent that made my knees weak. At first
glance his fetish and our connection was gear, and he had the finest
quality: gas masks, leather and latex full body suits, hoods of all
description. Later that afternoon, however, I would begin to realize
that although gear may have been his primary fetish, it did not
define his lifestyle in traditional BDSM terms. He was Gear Pup,
and I had no idea what that really meant, but I felt an immediate
connection with him and was willing to try just about anything to be close to him. That
night my mind filled with trepidation as a friend pulled a leather pup hood over his head
and lacing it tightly in place, and I watched the man that had stirred my own deep
submissive needs hold his hands out so they could be encased in leather mitts; my mind
raced for I did not know what I was getting myself into, what I was even expected to do,
or where this was going to lead.
Once the transformation was complete his friend attached a leash to his collar and
handed the other end to me. He told me that I was going to do fine, and if I needed a
break or didn’t know what to do I could always find him and hand over the leash if I
wanted to. He left us alone to bond; I looked into his now puppy eyes and gleaned a
sense of reassurance and strength, which was comforting and far from submissive. He
initiated a series of playful games that later I would learn was how he taught me, and
those around him, to communicate. I was not ready for how protective I would feel as we
set off to wander amongst the crowed of leather men camping around us.
I had never been exposed to this before, and having accepted my naturally
submissive nature I did not think I would enjoy this dynamic. However, I quickly
realized it was not about dominance over this pup. I soon realized that I, as a handler,
was actually in many ways submissive to his “puppy” needs ; to explore, be playful, to
nap, to hump, and to be humped. My role was not to control, to train, or define the pup
on my leash, but rather to provide a safe environment that simply allowed him to be a
pup; whether he was exploring his world, meeting a new friend, or just napping under my
watchful eyes.
It has been a very rewarding year for us both, my non-verbal skills have improved
greatly and I now even find my text messages to him are seamlessly filled with “HEAD
RUBs”, “BELLY SCRATCHES”, and expressive “WAGs”.
My phone now acts as
virtual leash, GPS allowing both of us to feel the security of his leash even when we are
separated by great distances. When we are together, even without his hood and mitts, he
is my pup now, and I cannot fully describe the feeling I get as he accepts my collar each
time. He has become a great source of strength at a very turbulent time in my life, and
for that I am grateful. In his devotion to me, I take comfort that I must be providing the
same for him. I look forward to many more happy years of companionship, but know
that each of our encounters will be learning experience for both of us and nothing should
be taken for granted.

Why should I join an MC?

It's easy to be foot-loose and fancy free riding with a motorcycle club that has no
requirements, no commitments and in many cases no backpatch or being part of a group
that hangs out at ''the bar''. But there's a down-side to living this ''freebird'' lifestyle -you can easily find yourself consistently surrounded by people, but you're not always
surrounded by ''friends''. True friends are always there when you need them -- through
the good times and the bad. There are folks that surround you when times are good, but
then vanish when things start heading downhill, the term this sort is ''fair-weather
friends''. Nothing presents the embodiment of this more so than a ''non-club'' club.
In this world you truly get what you pay for -- in many cases that expression goes
beyond currency. In a true club (one that holds regular meetings, proudly wears their
colours/backpatches, has bylaws and has all the perks and pitfalls of the fraternal
lifestyle), there are requirements and commitments to uphold. Sometimes it feels as if
these duties go beyond what one can manage; however, there's a reason we call each
other ''brother'' -- there's a closeness and a bond that goes far beyond any typical
''friendship''. Club brothers are always there for each other. In many cases, the family
unit of a motorcycle club goes beyond people's biological families.
Being a club brother isn't always easy, but the rewards are plenty. There's a good
reason that being accepted as a pledge/member isn't a simple task -- you're entering a
tight-knit family unit that needs to have unwavering faith and understanding in each other
at all times. The work and effort does not end when you earn your backpatch -- as a full
member, it's your responsibility to be active, take initiative, follow the group (even if you
don't always agree with what the group has decided) and to lead as needed.
When I look back through my photo album, I remember all the wonderful people
in my life who have mentored me, enlightened me and sometimes scolded me -- most of
them have been club brothers. When I was fired, lost a loved one, or had other crushing
defeats in my life, my ''fair-weather friends'' were never there for me but my club brothers
were. Alternatively, when another club brother was in a similar bind, I would like to
think I was there for them as well.
In this world of ''facebook friends'' and instant internet dating, it's easy to find
many of the things we seek on demand without any strings attached -- but it's not a viable
substitute for the true camaraderie and brotherhood you experience when you're an active
member of a motorcycle club.
So, if you're a GDI (non-club member) and any of what I have written strikes a
chord to you make the time and invest the effort into exploring the wonderful world of
motorcycle clubs -- you won't be sorry.
Rams Run 2013
40th Anniversary Run
August 23rd-25th 2013
The Rochester Rams are once again hosting our annual run. While archiving club
materials with the Leather Archives in Chicago we found documentation tracing the
origins of our club to 1973 a few years prior than our oral history had noted it. As a
result this will be our 40th Anniversary Run. The run will be held at our private secluded
campsite located just 45 miles west of Rochester. We are looking forward to a great
weekend of brotherhood.
The single run fee gains you entrance to the event and includes all meals and
beverages, round-the-clock snacks and sandwiches, a motorcycle tour of western NY’s
beautiful lake country, clothing optional pool and campsite, fetish oriented parties and
plenty of brotherhood and good times.
We have limited bunkhouse space available. Preference will be given out-of-town
motorcyclists and men with special needs. There is however plenty of room for tents! For

The Rams pride themselves on providing the best meals of any run around! We
also provide sandwich foods and snacks round-the-clock for those late-night players. We
are fully equipped to plan for those with any special dietary needs. The run fee includes
beer, soda and water. Several clubs host cocktail parties throughout the weekend as well!
If you are a local motorcyclist and need help getting your camping equipment to
the run site, have no worries! The Rams can transport your equipment to the site for you.
If you are traveling a long distance by airline or train, the Rams will arrange to pick you
up and transport you to the run site and transport you back in plenty of time to make your
connection.
You do not need to be a motorcyclist to participate in the run or the Saturday
afternoon tour. Several of our riders are always willing to take buddies. It’s a great
opportunity to get on a motorcycle and meet some of the friendliest bikers around.
You can register for the run by mailing the application within this newsletter. The
run fee is $150 before July 20th or $165 by August 14th. We will be giving away 40th
Anniversary T-Shirts this year. Payment may be made by check or money order (in US

Greetings from the Wolverine State. As near as I can tell,
wolverines are pretty feisty, bad-tempered animals, so the motto
fits me. Even though I've been here only ten weeks, it feels like I
moved here years ago.
I'm living in a great area called Royal Oak. It is actually a
small city that the Detroit metro area has surrounded. Downtown
is hip and trendy as they used to say, and has dozens of bars,
restaurants, coffee shops and boutiques. There's also a gay
underwear store and a pretty neat leather store that specializes in
women's fetish wear. It’s all a short 15 minute walk from my place
and I've been enjoying the lively sidewalk life it has to offer.
The gay scene is a bit difficult to get a handle on. There really is no central location
for the bars; they are scattered all over the metro area. The bar here in Royal Oak is
called Pronto and seems to attract a younger crowd, but I've found it OK for a beer or
two. So far, my pick is the Hayloft. It's about a 25 minute drive from here (yup - Detroit
is fucking big!) on the southwest side of the city. It’s sort of a combination bear bar,
leather bar and neighborhood place. The folks who run the place seem to have some kind
of interesting event going on nearly every weekend. Check out their page on Facebook.
One of the best things about being here has been the opportunity to renew friendships
with some of the Detroit club brothers I've met over the years and they have been
generous with offers to go out and their help getting around. Special thanks to Mike and
Jim of Pontiac fame for the great Sunday evening dinners at their place. And many
thanks to Buck from the Icons for helping me figure out what's where here in Motor City.
So, I'll close by extending an invitation to any club brothers: If you're in the Detroit
area, I'm settled in and there's plenty of room for guests.
