Vintage 5/150 Star Bass
Bringing back an icon from our original line up of guitars, the Star Bass was originally
released in the late 1950s and was put on the map when Bill Wyman, bass player for
the legendary Rolling Stones began to play and endorse the Framus Star Bass. This
remake clearly captures the classic allure of the original.

About Billy Lorento / Bill Lawrence
Behind the Italo-American pseudonym Billy Lorento hides Willi Lorenz Stich, born
i n 1931 south of Cologne, Germany. Stich, who in his early artist years used names
like Bela Lorentowsky to give himself an East European touch, was one of the most
famous jazz soloists in Germany in the fifties. That wasn’t his only talent; he had
enough electronics knowledge to design different kinds of pickups and circuits. Billy
Lorento started working with Framus in 1953: in the following years this collaboration
resulted in diverse signature models, from the exotic solid wood Thinline to the
low budget solid body models. The Model 5/120, which was manufactured in the
beginning, is now one of the most soughtafter collectibles. This thinline electric guitar
is not only a valuable, high quality, technically mature handmade instrument with
beautiful optical characteristics, it was also the very first Framus signature model.
Framus: Hollywood Vintage Series
Framus started crafting solid body guitars in 1958. The original Hollywood grew to be
one of its most popular models, available in both single & double cutaway. Production
of these classics ceased in 1966. We are pleased to present the original Framus
Hollywood back in the market with all vintage correct features.
5/150 Star Bass - Accolades
Music Inc Magazine. has named the Framus Vintage 5/150 Star Bass, one of the Top
50 products of NAMM 2012 show. Music Inc. stated it best, “These guitars have the
combination of great technology, attention to craft and a cool vintage design.” The
Framus Star Bass was Bill Wyman’s bass of choice when the Rolling Stones burst
onto the scene in the early 1960s. The Framus Vintage Star Bass does its legacy
proud with its visually distinctive flair and sonic appeal. With such a rich heritage
behind it, the Framus Vintage Star Bass continues its illustrious, long-standing and
award-winning tradition. Framus is also thrilled to announce that the Framus Vintage
5/150 Star Bass has been chosen as one of Premier Guitar magazines Editors’ Pick
awards at NAMM 2012 held in Anaheim California.

“Framus - known all over the world”
This was the slogan that the Bubenreuth Musical Instrument
factory made popular through its advertising campaign in the
1950s. Framus was founded in 1946 by Fred Wilfer. Many
artists, both German and international, such as Peter Kraus,
Elvis Presley, Jan Akkerman, John Lennon and Bill Wyman
helped to make Framus a world renown trade mark. After its
bankruptcy in the late 1970s Framus virtually disappeared.
But in 1995 the brand celebrated a come back. The brand
has been resurrected by Fred Willfer’s son, Hans Peter Wilfer
who is well known as the hard working founder of Bass
company WARWICK.
