small example of the genius of Colombia's Abelardo Carbonó, one of the most original and unique musicians in
VAMPISOUL Latin America. His music, which could be described as "proto champeta", is the result of many influences:
Congolese music, cumbia, disco, Afrobeat, pop, Haitian compas, psychedelic guitar. Abelardo's trademark is the
ability to recycle bits of just about anything into a captivating rhythmic groove which has no equal.

LIGHTINTHEAT start of another brilliant, major reissue campaign. To celebrate the forthcoming release of the first three solo albums
TIC
by 13th Floor Elevators man Roky Erickson, there's a faithful reissue of the snarling Mine Mine Mind 7", remastered
from the original tapes. Presented in an exclusive, hand-numbered edition, the single comes in an exact
reproduction of the original picture sleeve and is pressed on psychedelic swirl vinyl, exactly as it should be.
Erickson was just 15 when he wrote "You're Gonna Miss Me", the song that epitomized the garage rock movement
and inspired punks, rockers and noisemakers ever since. In another life, Erickson and his Austin-based band could
have been as big as any of the 0s legends still making music today. But life took Erickson down a meandering path.
Indeed, he wound up writing "Mine Mine Mind" on his release from the Houston psychiatric hospital where he was
institutionalized for almost a decade following a diagnosis with paranoid schizophrenia in 1968. Erickson's
experiences in the hospital proved to be fertile inspiration for his music - on leaving, he formed the group Roky
Erickson and The Aliens and channelled his experiences into the 1980 album The Evil One, from which "Mine Mine
Mind", with its disturbed lyrics about "goblins, demons and gremlins", and B-side "Bloody Hammer", is taken. In the
coming year, Light In The Attic will release a number of Erickson's early solo masterworks, all expanded and
lavishly packaged on CD, LP & Digital. Beginning with The Evil One, holding a lens to this unique artist beloved of
Sonic Youth, Spacemen 3, Jack White and many more.

DOWNTOWN line up for the group, including Boz Boorer (Polecats / Morrissey), for a London date at The Hypnotic Eye's resident
SOUND
club at The Lexington venue. The event was a sellout, and brought together both bands under the watchful eye of
Justin Barwick from Austrian label & record store Downtown Sound, who commissioned a Split 45 celebrating the
group's history and rebirth. The recording took place ross-continent' and was mixed by The Hypnotic Eye's
renowned engineer Ben Baptie at Electric Lady Studios, New York (built by Jimi Hendrix). The resulting record
features a brand-new recording of Andy Ellison's cult DJ-Classic 'Cornflake Zoo' and The Hypnotic Eye's take on
John's Children one & only hit 'Smashed! Blocked!.' Both sides bring the band into a new light using original
Analogue gear to reproduce the songs in their loudest, wildest outing yet. An essential release limited to just 300

2013, Light In The Attic is set to issue one of the 20th century's pivotal singles: the debut UK 7" by Public Image Ltd., never before
LIGHTINTHEAT available in the U.S.. In 1976, Johnny Rotten set the agenda for punk music's year zero with 'Anarchy In The UK', a song that
summed up the band's spirit, sound and attitude in one shocking package. Two years later, The Sex Pistols were in tatters, but

Rotten was as unsentimental as you'd hope. He reclaimed his real name - John Lydon - and set about forming a band whose very
identity kicked against the media manipulating and manipulated Pistols - his new group were Public Image Ltd. PiL were a very
distinct prospect from the Pistols, founded with a greater thought for rhythm, and with a sound that turned the page from snarling
punk to a new racket informed by reggae and world music. But that's not to say Lydon's new outfit lacked vitriol. 'Public Image'
hits out against the exploitative nature of former manager Malcolm McLaren, against the notorious British tabloid press, who
never gave Lydon an easy ride, and against his own Sex Pistols bandmates. It's a debut single that operated as a theme song
and a manifesto: ".my entrance/My own creation/My grand finale/My goodbye," as the lyrics had it. For this one time pressing, we
are re-releasing this landmark single in an exact reproduction of its original 'Newspaper' sleeve mocking the infamous ed top'
tabloids (its tories' included "The Girl Who Drove Me To Tea, by Donut's wife Carol," Donut being drummer Jim Walker). The Bside, "The Cowboy Song", included here, revels in Lydon's newfound sense of freedom that he found with bassist Jah Wobble,

drummer Walker and guitarist Keith Levine. It is, essentially, the sound of four people letting loose in a studio - and to hell with the
listener. They played it - twice - at their debut gig. LITA's exploration of Public Image's catalog, expressly for the U.S. market, will
continue later this year, with the re-release of the group's debut album First Issue, from which 'Public Image' was taken, in an
expanded, 2xCD and Single LP edition with various bonus material including an almost hour-long audio interview circa 1978.

Jonestown Massacre sound mixed with eastern influences & bringing it up to date with the benefit of all the
additional weirdness that's been discovered in the past 40 years. The Brian Jonestown Massacre has been
somewhat of a musical commune for many respected musicians over the years, a band from the 1990's that has
spurned other great bands ever since. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Warlocks, The Silver Rockets, The Black
Angels, The Ravonettes, The Dilettantes (to name a few) are all part of this musical family tree. Indeed, this is a
band that has witnessed many incarnations, since its inception in San Francisco in 1992. Two dozen band
members later and numerous "ups and downs" (some have been famously sensationalized in the media ), the one
thing that has always remained consistent for this psychedelic collective, is front man Mr. Anton Alfred Newcombe.

records is up next and he takes the tracks repetitious groove to create a formidable mix. Then we have The

Music from Record Store Day co-founder Michael Kurtz! It's pretty cool to be label mates with a band like R.E.M. The Rock & Roll Hall Of Famers' first single was released on Atlanta's
Hib-Tone Records in 1981. Four years later, a band named Three Hits would also be on that label's roster with the 7" single "Pressure Dome" b/w "Numbers," produced by Don Dixon at
Mitch Easter's Drive-In Studio, much like R.E.M.'s. Three Hits was started by Sheila Valentine and Michael Kurtz at Appalachian State University. Along with classmate Jim Biddell, the
three began rehearsing between the bins at Schoolkids Records, eventually adding Michael's brotherDanny and touring up and down the East Coast-even sharing the bill with Alex
Chilton at CBGB in New York. 22 years after "Pressure Dome" was released, Kurtz co-founded Record Store Day-a yearly feast for music junkies, where references to labels like HibTone are commonplace-as well as being Knighted in France's Ordre des Arts et des Lettres for his work with Record Store Day. It's only fitting that Three Hits' classic single should be
available for the first time in nearly three decades for Record Store Day 2013. Now wait, why is it on a 12" piece of vinyl? Well, in addition to the original singles' two track, there's a third
song from the Dixon sessions, "Picture Window," plus two tracks produced by Huw Gower (The Records) from their long out of print 1989 E.P. Fire In The House. I know, you're asking
"how could this get any cooler?" Well, the download card also offers up two previously unissued tracks, "Just One Of The Guys" and "Wild Volcano," for a total of seven downloadable

Willie Nelson who landed a hit with the Van Zandt song Pancho &Lefty. Within the scene the support for
Van Zandt was enormous: his friend, country singer Steve Earle, for example, was quoted that Van
Zandt was the best songwriter of the world and he would stand on Bob Dylan's coffee table to repeat
this. After Bob Dylan has played Van Zandt songs as well one could think that everybody has heard of
Townes Van Zandt, but label founder Ansgar Glade never did. And so a lot of other people never did.
So the idea was born and My Proud Mountain released the first Songs of Townes Van Zandt album with
Scott Kelly, Steve Von Till and Wino in 2012 recording 3 Songs each. The feedback to this release was
mind overwhelming. More and more people showed up asking about Townes Van Zandt and telling his
story. A lot of musicians offered to participate for a 2nd record. By getting John Baizley, singer and
guitar player of Baroness, Nate Hall from US Christmas, and Mike Scheidt from YOB recording songs
for My Proud Mountain has found another dream team. Each participant focuses the songs and
especially the text of Van Zandt in his personal way by reducing the already minimalistic songs even
more to their essentials. This exclusive limited International Record Store Day 2013 10" features four
Townes Van Zandt songs from different releases: one song by John Baizley from the upcoming Songs
Of Townes Van Zandt and an exclusive track by Nate Hall on Side A and a song of Steve Von Tills "A

I first saw Dead Moon perform around 1992. Dead Moon was my friends favorite band and soon to become one of mine. It was
the first of many shows he booked for them and I was lucky enough to get to know and play along side Fred, Toody and Andrew.
They played before a band and proceeded to usurp the room with their straight up, stripped back, raw honesty and unbelievably
great songs. Since joining A Place To Bury Strangers, we haven't recorded a single cover, until now. I like that APTBS has never
made carbon copy versions of covers and has always made each song their own. When Oliver came up with the idea to do

always drawn comics but this marked his first book publishing. To celebrate the release, Johnston also put together
a soundtrack for the book - his first new album since 2009. The soundtrack includes seven unreleased tracks by
Daniel as well as new tracks from UNKNOWN MORTAL ORCHESTRA, JAKE BUGG, DIE MASON DIE, ELEANOR
FRIEDBERGER, DEER TICK and FRUIT BATS. All songs have been themed around "Space Ducks". A celebrated
musician and recording artist with a 30-year career that includes over 20 albums - including covers by Death Cab
for Cutie, The Flaming Lips, Tom Waits, Beck, and TV on the Radio, Johnston was also the subject of the 2006
documentary "The Devil and Daniel Johnston" which won the Sundance Film Festival Director's Award. A long-time
and dedicated fan of comic book, Johnston's drawings and paintings have hung in art galleries and museums
across the world, including the Whitney Museum of American Art. Johnston rocketed to global notoriety in the early
1990s when album artwork from his "Hi, How Are You?" record was featured on a t-shirt worn by Kurt Cobain at the
height of Nirvana's exploding popularity.?? The physical release of the soundtrack includes an edited 24-page
version of the cartoon. "Space Ducks" is more than just a graphic novel; it's a one-of-a-kind interactive comic book
experience, complimented by the soundtrack and iOS App. The companion app will virtually take readers through

Mercury Rev's cherished 1998 album, Deserter's Songs, kicked off our new Modern Classics Recordings imprint.
We couldn't have found a more apt beginning - Deserter's Songs has lost none of its charm in the 15 years since its
release. Out of step with the times even when it was released in 1998, Deserter's Songs has all the hallmarks of a
lost classic. Except it wasn't lost at all - it was lauded by everyone from hip-young-thing-chasing NME to the more
distanced likes of Mojo magazine. Retrospectively, Pitchfork placed it in their Top 100 albums of the 1990s. Now,
we are digging into the album's archive with Deserted Songs, a collection of outtakes from the Deserter's Songs
sessions, all of which are new to vinyl. Knowing how we roll, this is no standard package. Pressed on 180-gram
vinyl, housed in a hand-numbered, old school ¶ip-on'-style gatefold jacket, it has insert notes by Mercury Rev's
Jonathan Donahue & Grasshopper and comes with unseen photos from the original Deserter's Songs photo
sessions. The special edition of 2,000 is pressed on white and clear vinyl. Set to be one of our official Record Store
Day 2013 releases, this is a special package. But this is special music too, living in a magical, twilit netherworld
somewhere between fairytale and nightmare. In these demos, offcuts and alternate and early versions of Deserter's

of grandiose proportions, Deserted Songs strips back to the songs' fragile hearts. Intended as the band's swan
song, Deserter's Songs was made with utter abandon. That sense of freedom permeates these demos, some of
which are throwaway instrumentals, some embryonic versions of iconic songs. And in hearing these tracks, we find
that the seeds of Deserter's Songs were sown many years before the album's release - there's a version of
"Goddess On A Hiway" recorded on home cassette in 1989. Of course, the band didn't bow out after Deserter's
Songs. Instead, the album propelled them to a new level of fame, and the group would go on to make plenty more
strange, beautiful, dreamlike music. They allowed themselves a brief pause to look back in 2011, when the album
was reissued on CD with a bonus disc featuring the Deserted Songs tracks in their original, digital release. That
summer, they played Deserter's Songs in full to wowed audiences across Europe. Then they promptly stopped
looking back and moved on. But reading Grasshopper's mystical liner notes, the album - and the tracks that
became Deserted Songs - clearly hold a special place in the hearts of the band members. "As we pulled these
Deserted Songs to the surface.," he writes, "whatever had been holding us hostage cracked and withered in the
blistering power of this music, and these songs allowed us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time. It
is the magic of the vibrating universe; the music of the Angels'."

ZudRangMa label promises to help you do just that. Following the celebrated Thai Funk: ZudRangMa compilations
exploring Molam music from the 0s, 0s and 0s, it's time for an in-depth look at one of the architects of the sound.
Theppabutr Productions: The Man Behind The Molam Sound 1972-75 issues, for the first time outside of Thailand,
the work of pioneering producer Theppabutr Satirodchompu, the man credited as the creator of the modern Molam
sound. Those uninitiated in Molam (or "Mor Lam", as it's sometimes known) should probably get acquainted with
Thai Funk Volumes 1 and 2, like, right now. But as time is short, let us say it was the exciting, electric music born of
the age-old folk music traditions of northeast Thailand in the latter half of the 20th century. It's the sound of a corner
of a far eastern nation carving its way through the musical shifts sweeping the west while keeping one eye on the
past - and the resulting groove-laden vinyl gems sound just as fresh and dynamic today as they did decades ago.
Theppabutr's contribution to Molam is almost immeasurable - he signed hundreds of Molam artists and recorded
even more. Here, acts from his stable including Roied Petchsiam, Chanpen Sirithep and Theppabutr's singing wife,
Baneyn Rakkaen, showcase his heavy, deep and raw sound, colored by native instruments including the haunting,
church organ-like khaen and the driving riffs of the phin. Like the Thai Funk compilations, Theppabutr Productions:
The Man Behind The Molam Sound 1972-75 is the result of some serious crate-digging by the ZudRangMa label's
own Maft Sai, who scours used record bins and street markets in Bangkok and beyond. Beyond the label, Sai is a
DJ responsible for the Bangkok Paradise club, which brought Theppabutr back to the stage in February 2012 with
his group Wong Dontri Molam Theppabutr. Thanks to Sai, the wider world is now privy to a rich seam of Thai pop,
garage rock, funk, and disco from a selection of artists largely unknown outside of Southeast Asia. A record label
and shop with a strong desire to find old gems and and present them as beautiful reissues, ZudRangMa and Light
In The Attic clearly share a similar ethos despite the thousands of miles separating them. In their native Thailand,
ZudRangMa's CD issues of these compilations are housed in a limited, hand-stitched soft cloth sleeve. Not to be
outdone, we issued our complementary vinyl editions as epic 2xLP packages complete with gatefold sleeves,
vintage album art, lovingly remastered audio and four varieties of the beautiful hand-stitched, printed and colored
cloth outer sleeves. Theppabutr Productions: The Man Behind The Molam Sound 1972-75 continues that tradition,
appearing here on vinyl for the first time and issued with an old school tip-on gatefold sleeve, a download card for
all tracks and a foldout poster. This compilation opens a musical door that few in the western world have peered

hyperkreativ war, aber schon langsam an den Ecken ausfranste. Das Ziel war es nicht, alte Songs wiederzubeleben und
aufzunehmen. Tatsächlich waren viele dieser Tracks nicht einmal fertige Songs, sondern lediglich Ideen oder unentwickelte Parts.
Das tatsächliche Ziel war es, dieses unfertige Material innerhalb der versteckten Strategie anzugehen, in der die Songs als
Sprungbrett für die zeitgenössischen, nach vorn gerichteten Prozesse, für neue Kompositionen zu nutzen. All das passierte mit
WIRE, die als Quartett im Studio mit dem Line-Up aus Newman, Graham Lewis und Robert Grey mit Gitarrist Matthew Simms
Vollgas gaben. Simms hatte schon als Livegitarrist im Jahr zuvor zur neuen Soundlandschaft von WIRE beigetragen. Aus der
forschenden Session im Rockfield Studio und der darauf folgenden, intensiven Weiterentwicklung im Swim Studio von Newman
wurde aus dem Quellmaterial in der klassischen WIRE-Tradition etwas ganz anderes als das, was aus dem Material 1980
geworden wäre. ,Change Becomes Us" verkörpert die paradoxe Essenz der WIRE'schen Kreativität. Die Weigerung der Songs,
eine einzige, statische Identität anzunehmen, ist bezeichnend für die sich ständig weiterentwickelnde Ästhetik der Band, die
ständig zwischen Gegensätzen auf Spannung gehalten wird: zwischen dem Vertrauten und dem Unbekannten, zwischen dem
Angenehmen und dem Aufreibenden, zwischen dem Melodischen und dem Brutalen, dem Zerebralen und dem Viszeralen, dem
Cleveren und dem Idiotischen, dem Offensichtlichen und dem Undurchschaubaren, dem Rationalen und dem Absurden.

Cooper, and her twelve piece soul band have a reputation for rocking the house. This particular house
happens to be the historical Star Theater in downtown Portland Oregon. In 2011, 100 years after
erection, the building was remodeled to look as it did in its heyday. It was time to take a shot at her
lifetime dream of recording her songs and forming a road band in music city. After months of knocking
on doors, typical hard luck, and sleeping on an air mattress in a 60's hotel room-turned studio
apartment, Cooper was able to make some headway. She assembled a twelve piece soul band in
both Nashville and Portland and began rehearsing both. She started writing the record she had
always dreamed of making, drawing from her love of old Soul and Motown records and her 60's and
70's Rock n Roll influences. Cooper played her first gig in Nashville opening for the Queen of Rock

now legendary 1966 first record from the Iowa Hall Of Fame garage band, "Blackout Of Gretely" has
spawned cover versions by numerous global 2nd generation garage bands including The Fuzztones
who covered it on their debut LP in 1985. The original B-side, "Pain In My Heart", is now featured in a
Hollywood movie, Brian Jun's 2012 dark drama "Joint Body" starring Mark Pellegrino ("Lost") and
Alicia Witt ("88 Minutes"). The band is still active, now 47 years after its inception. The still-active
group (with the second line-up from 1967) recorded an all-new album in March of 2012, entitled
"GONN 45 - Fully Loaded", and 2 of those CD-only tracks, "Baby Please Be Good" and "New Again",
make their vinyl debut on this limited numbered edition 7" 33-1/3 Record Store Day only release. This
solid fuzz-tone & teen angst driven 4-track picture disc EP thus bridges the band's ongoing history

arguably Vini Reilly and the Durutti Columns most important and consistent piece of work since the
demise of the original and seminal Factory Records in the early 1990's. It was commissioned MIF
(Manchester International Festival of Music), July 2009. Vini had already composed pieces for Tony to
listen to whilst he was ill in hospital and it was from here that the project developed. The opening night

world". Two years after his death, Wilson got his way, one of many lovely touches in a very personal,
emotional and often warmly funny musical tribute. Wilson signed Joy Division and Happy Mondays,
yet never gave up on this cult band he adored, working with them even after his legendary label went
bankrupt. A complex man, Wilson was an academic thinker who revelled in Steve Coogan's
affectionate, Alan Partridge-style send-up of him as a "twat". And this tribute was no different. At one
point, Reilly - known for melancholy - launched into something resembling an Irish jig. "Tony loved to
laugh," he explained. "He loved absurdities." After the humour came exquisitely mournful music. With
Reilly and drummer Bruce Mitchell augmented by bass, keyboard, violin, electric piano, drum machine
and trumpet, the band's beautiful pieces reflected Wilson's love of rock and classical. Reilly's plangent
guitar work showed grief's emotional spectrum, from sadness to overdriven anger. As in life, Wilson
had the last word, his recorded voice expounding thoughts on socialism with an eerie echo. Silence
followed as Manchester pondered the loss of one of its truly larger-than-life characters. Then
everybody cheered.' The bonus disc first appeared in 2005 via Wilson's project F4, as being the fourth
version of Factory Records. Originally it was download-only release, Heaven Sent (It Was Called
Digital, It Was Heaven Sent). It was a six track CD of personal dedications by Vini ironically the last
piece being Anthony. Ever critical of Vini's voice, but ever a fierce champion of his talent, the late Tony
Wilson would surely appreciate this instrumental tribute by The Durutti Column.

started playing in 2005, and have released 2 albums in their native Argentina; De los valles y volcanes
released in 2007 to critical acclaim in Argentina and Spain, led to a deal with Warners. Tired of
Warners dragging their feet over releasing their second album, Hacia Dos Veranos, they released it as
a free download in 2010. 2013 sees their return to a physical format with Limay.

Mad Season was formed by Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready, Alice in Chains vocalist Layne Staley,
bass player John Baker Saunders and Barrett Martin on drums. "Above" is the only studio album they
recorded. It was released in March 1995 and features guest vocals by Mark Lanegan . Mad Season is
an English term for the time of the year when psilocybin mushrooms are in full bloom, and a term
which McCready related to "the seasons of drinking and drug abuse." Not that inappropriate,
considering the fact that the band formed after McCready and Saunders met in rehab. A mix of
melancholy ballads and hard rock, the album proved to be a gold certified hit: just missing to work the
top 20. We are presenting you one the classics of the so-called "grunge"era. The album will be
released on 2 LP's with side D containing a beautiful etch of the album's cover, different to the original

original reels. Arthur "Art" Blakey (October 11, 1919 - October 16, 1990) known later as Abdullah Ibn Buhaina, was
an American Grammy Award-winning jazz drummer and bandleader. Along with Kenny Clarke and Max Roach, he
was one of the inventors of the modern bebop style of drumming. For more than 30 years his band, Art Blakey and
the Jazz Messengers, included many young musicians who went on to become prominent names in jazz. Blakey's
groups are matched only by those of Miles Davis in this regard. Blakey was inducted into the Jazz Hall of Fame (in
1982), the Grammy Hall of Fame (in 2001), and was awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005.

COLTRANE, JOHN - NEWPORT '61
LP 180g + CD. Recorded at "Music at Newport" festival 1961 on Saturday night July 1st John Coltrane's previously
unissued 1961 performance at the Newport Jazz Festival. At the time, his group consisted of a quintet with Trane
as the only horn, plus piano, two basses, and drums. The Newport tracks feature: McCoy Tyner on piano, Reggie
Workman and Art Davis on bass, and Elvin Jones on drums - Live at Newport, Rhode Island, July 1, 1961. In May
1961, Coltrane's contract with Atlantic was bought out by the newly formed Impulse! Records label. An advantage
to Coltrane recording with Impulse! was that it would enable him to work again with engineer Rudy Van Gelder,
who had taped both his and Davis's Prestige sessions, as well as Blue Train. It was at Van Gelder's new studio in
Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey that Coltrane would record most of his records for the label. By early 1961, bassist
Davis had been replaced by Reggie Workman while Eric Dolphy joined the group as a second horn around the
same time. The quintet had a celebrated (and extensively recorded) residency in November 1961 at the Village
Vanguard, which demonstrated Coltrane's new direction. It featured the most experimental music he'd played up to
this point, influenced by Indian ragas, the recent developments in modal jazz, and the burgeoning free jazz
movement. John Gilmore, a longtime saxophonist with musician Sun Ra, was particularly influential; after hearing a
Gilmore performance, Coltrane is reported to have said "He's got it! Gilmore's got the concept!" In 1961, Down
Beat magazine indicted Coltrane, along with Eric Dolphy, as players of "Anti-Jazz" in an article that bewildered and
upset the musicians.Coltrane admitted some of his early solos were based mostly on technical ideas. Furthermore,
Dolphy's angular, voice-like playing earned him a reputation as a figurehead of the "New Thing" (also known as
"Free Jazz" and "Avant-Garde") movement led by Ornette Coleman, which was also denigrated by some jazz
musicians (including Miles Davis) and critics. But as Coltrane's style further developed, he was determined to

Townsend. At last proof that the entire album was "not" (as legend has it) recorded in one jam. Miles issued only
brief instructions to his band prior to recording the sessions, so preparation was minimal, as was the way with
Miles Davis. Kind of Blue is a studio album by American jazz musician Miles Davis, released on August 17, 1959,
by Columbia Records. Recording sessions for the album took place at Columbia's 30th Street Studio in New York
City on March 2 and April 22, 1959. The sessions featured Davis's ensemble sextet, which featured pianist Bill

Adderley. After the entry of Evans into his sextet, Davis followed up on the modal experimentations of Milestones
(1958) by basing Kind of Blue entirely on modality, in contrast to his earlier work with the hard bop style of jazz.
Though precise figures have been disputed, Kind of Blue has been described by many music writers not only as
Davis's best-selling album, but as the best-selling jazz record of all time. On October 7, 2008, it was certified
quadruple platinum in sales by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). It has been regarded by
many critics as the greatest jazz album of all time and Davis's masterpiece. The album's influence on music,
including jazz, rock, and classical music, has led music writers to acknowledge it as one of the most influential
albums ever made. In 2002, it was one of fifty recordings chosen that year by the Library of Congress to be added
to the National Recording Registry. In 2003, the album was ranked number 12 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of
