Well here we are again, taking a look back at what
has been in 2014, and looking forward to what we
want to achieve in 2015. We certainly have more
exciting new products, just a cursory look at the
RH baits range tells me we have at least fifty new
lure patterns coming into production at the factory
between now and early 2015.
Our British made lures and baits range has been well
received, and I am looking forward to building on
those successes, especially the predator side where
we have some exciting new jerk and crank baits that
were over three years in the making. These will be
finished in house alongside the game lures and we
are busily installing new machinery to help smooth
out the manufacturing processes as I am writing this.
The last upgrades have now been applied to
the new fly reel design. The task of bringing
Reuben Heaton back into the reel making arena
has taken a bit longer than predicted, and I am
very appreciative of the patience shown by our
customers. Reel manufacture has been a goal of
mine since I took on Heaton’s some twenty five
years ago. Although we have not made reels since
the mid 1960’s, we still have over a hundred years
of reel making history, so more than most.
The Model 38 is the first in a range of British made
reels that will be made here in the UK factory, yet
another new chapter for the company, or maybe
it’s back to business as (was) usual if that makes
any sense. 2015 see’s the 90th Anniversary for Eagle
Claw, and our plans for this brand during 2015
should see us spread our wings even further no pun
intended. We have had other challenges in 2014
too, with the re-emergence of Team Reuben Heaton
not in carp fishing on this occasion but at the
World predator Classic in Holland. Not your average
predator fishing match and we shall return in 2015
much wiser for our experience.
As many of you will know, we changed our structure
quite a lot during 2014 with agents now in place
across the country. Like the team, the company
continues to face new challenges as we forge ahead,
changes that we must overcome and adapt to. I
would like to thank everyone that has supported us
during this phase and hopefully we can repay that
loyalty with a comprehensive service going forward.

Development
Heatons has been at the forefront of tackle design
since the company’s founder started the business in
1857. A keen angler and engineer, Reuben Heaton was
responsible for many early developments and patents
in fishing tackle, some of which we still see today.
In-house development is still an important
factor and sees Heatons working with the latest
materials and processes to develop products
for angling and other commercial markets. This
ethos of continual development is typified by the
4000 Series scales range, which has produced
benchmark products such as the Specimen
Hunter and Standard Angling scale.
Continuous refinement to improve
performance has seen our products adopted
by many European and World angling events,
strengthening the reputation of the Heaton
brand and making our scales the choice for
both specialist and general anglers. As a result,
many European and World records have also
been claimed on Reuben Heaton scales.

Specimen Hunter Scale
The “original” specialist anglers’
scale that has continued to set the
benchmark for all specimen-style scales
since its arrival in 1988. The Specimen
Hunter is a high performance scale
specifically designed with the modern
specialist angler in mind. With an
accuracy of over one part in 500, the
Specimen Hunter is a top class scale
used by competition and specimen
anglers alike.
All models in the Specimen Hunter range come
with a lens mounted scale light that provides a
waterproof maintenance free light source, which
illuminates the whole dial area during night
operation. The scale light also has a hands-free
auto-off function, ensuring that the dial remains
illuminated during the weighing process.

Reuben Heaton has been involved in angling
competitions since the 1930s, when the first
all-aluminium match scales were developed by
the company. Since then, Heatons have supplied
competition scales to angling events worldwide.
The 4000 Series Fishery Match Scale has been
engineered specifically for angling competitions, and
has the accuracy of the original large diameter match
scales within the more compact 4000 Series body.
Dual revolution dial indicators ensure accurate
readings are easily taken, and the weights can be
viewed by on-looking competitors. With a wide
range of division sizes, there are models to cater for
big match weights on modern managed fisheries as
well as small weights found on canals and in winter

Heatons has a long and distinguished
history of reel making reaching back
over 150 years, to the founding of
the company by keen angler Reuben
George Heaton in 1857. Heatons
produced most items of fishing
tackle at one time or another, but
reels continued to be the mainstay
of the company’s production until
the late 1970s. Now after an absence
of more than 40 years, commercial
reel production at the UK factory has
recommenced with the introduction of
the Model 38 fly reel.

Reel history.
Real performance.
The new Reuben Heaton Model 38 Fly Reel takes its
name from its predecessor, a highly successful alloy
fly reel design which Heatons produced in different
versions from the early 1900s right through to the
late 1940s.
One of the earliest aluminium production fly reels,
the Model 38 proved a very successful design for
Heatons. Light and yet robust, the Model 38 had a
central spool tensioning drag system as well as a
spring pawl allowing anglers to vary the amount of
drag that could be applied to the spool over a very
large range.
The success of the Model 38 was based on its no
nonsense design, which proved to be ultimately
reliable, simple to operate and easy to maintain. Such
was the appeal of the Model 38 design that it sold all
over the world in great quantities and was adopted as
the reel of choice by many of the large angling brands.
The ethos of the original Model 38 has been continued
in the new Model 38 design with the same ultimate
goal - a reliable reel that performs consistently and is
easy to maintain and use.

Every component of the Model
38 Fly Reel is engineered to
be robust and reliable, giving
longevity and performance under
pressure. Machined from solid
aluminium bar stock, the Model
38 frame and spool are anodised
to saltwater specification, and
are engineered for strength as
well as having classical looks.
For stopping power, the Model
38 features a multi layer stainless
clutch drag system developed
to give a smooth and faultlessly
simple and efficient operation,
over a wide range of settings.
All reels are fitted as standard with medium arbour
spool and nickel silver fittings. Conversion from left
to right hand retrieve is achieved by simply releasing
and turning over the drive hub. Each reel comes
complete with a protective neoprene pouch. Reels can
be fitted with classical polished brass fittings to order.

The RH Range
of Baits & Lures
Heatons previously made fishing lures,
principally Devon Minnows and spoon
baits, throughout much of their long
history of tackle manufacture. These
lures were made and sold to the trade
for a long period from the mid 1800s
through to the late 1930s, and now
that lure manufacturing tradition is
being re-born with the latest RH range
of baits, lures and accessories, which
continue to be manufactured in the
UK at the Market Bosworth factory.
All aspects of manufacture, including
moulding, painting, wire forming and
assembly operations, are carried out
in-house and lures can be supplied
in bulk or retail format. Each lure is
balanced and colours are matched
and checked for consistency, ensuring
the finished baits remain faithful to
traditional patterns where required.

Griffiths
Oval Sprat
The classic minnow design and one of the earliest
forms. Tried and tested for generations, a very
effective salmon bait in most conditions. Griffiths
minnows are cast in one piece, and will not split or
crack even in very low water temperatures. Balanced
to ensure correct presentation is achieved, both
Standard and Oval minnows are available in floating
and sinking varieties, complete with mounts.
A fast spinning bait with an excellent flash midway
between the faster standard round bodied Devon’s
and slower flat sided sprat style baits. Designed to
spin in the opposite direction to the Standard Devon
bait. An outstanding salmon lure. Comes complete
with mount.

A hybrid based on two very old styles of
minnow bait which used to be made of
leather. These baits have a heavy brass
head and soft silicone vibrating tail.
This bait swims level and deeper than

Flying C Bullet
Bucktail Flying C
A highly effective variation on the flying C style lure, the Flying
C Bullet lure has a solid brass nose, is mounted with a rubber
tail and is fitted with a swing blade. The Flying C Bullet fishes
deeper in comparison to the standard French blade style
Flying C at the same speeds.
Basically a Flying C where the silicone tail has been replaced
by a tying of Bucktail hair. This lure is a cross between a
traditional spinning pattern and a large salmon fly such as a
Waddington or tube fly.

Atlantic Spoon
Atlantic Spoons have a classic fluttering action with
a hammered finish and enough weight to cast well.
Equally good for salmon and other predatory species
both in freshwater and sea, the Atlantic Spoon

Traditionally used for “Harling” on Scottish salmon

RH specialist jerk baits have
been specifically designed to
mimic the swimming style and
casting characteristics of high
quality handmade wooden baits
whilst retaining the benefits of
durability associated with high
impact plastics.
Weights and sizes are to exacting standards
in order to repeat those of the wooden baits.
Developed over three years with extensive
amounts of testing, these multi chamber baits
are balanced and weighted for ease of casting.
The swimming action of these baits can be
altered with different styles retrieval and subtle

The high impact bodies are seam welded for
extra strength and pressure tested to 100ft.
The stainless steel eyes are held in place by
reinforced dowels to prevent breakouts. All

The Sweet Shad bait can be adapted to fish as a slow
sinking or a floating/suspending bait dependant on set
up. This bait can be cast from a rod or used for low
speed trolling.

Terms of Trade
All goods referred to or illustrated in any catalogue, price list or published
literature are subject to availability. The appearance of any item in such
literature does not constitute an offer for sale.
Any order for goods will become binding on our acceptance of such order. These Terms of Trading shall apply to any order accepted by us and all
goods will be despatched under these Terms of Trading which will apply to
each order to the exclusion of any other terms and conditions inconsistent
with such Terms of Trading, or purporting to modify the same.
In Terms of Trading reference to Reuben Heaton Ltd, ‘the Company’, ‘we’,
‘us’, ‘our’, and ‘ourselves’ shall refer to Reuben Heaton Ltd.
PRICES
Published prices are liable to alteration without notice, and orders
are accepted at prices ruling at day of despatch, even though we may
receive a priced order. All orders accepted by us are subject to VAT at the
prevailing rate.
NEW ACCOUNTS
We will be pleased to open new accounts with bona-fide companies
subject to satisfactory investigations and Bank and Trade references being
provided, together with a signed acceptance for these Terms of Trade. Terms
are initially on a ‘cash with order’ basis until reliable trading has been
established.
ORDERING OF GOODS
Customer must quote full item numbers and correct descriptions when
ordering. The name and address where goods are to be sent must be
clearly stated together with the name and status of the person ordering, and
the full name and address of the company or firm to be invoiced.
CARRIAGE
Carriage on all orders will be charged at cost unless special terms have
been agreed in writing.
DAMAGES, SHORTAGES AND NON-DELIVERY
We will not accept any claim in respect of damage in transit, shortage, or
non-delivery, unless written notice is sent to REUBEN HEATON LTD and to
the Carrier by the Customer as follows:
1. For damage in transit - within 3 days of receipt of the goods
2. For shortages - within 3 days of receipt of the goods
3. For non-delivery - within 10 days of the date of the invoice.
RETURN OF GOODS
All representations or notifications regarding goods the Customer wishes to
return to us for any reason other than damage or shortage in delivery must
be submitted within 14 days in writing.
Verbal notifications or written notifications given to staff in the field will
not be accepted as being properly received by us. No deduction in the
payment of invoices may be made for goods returned to us until we have
issued a Credit Note to the Customer. Be accompanied by a letter giving
an explanation as to why the goods are being returned and any faults in
the goods. Be accompanied wherever possible with the Company’s invoice
number or delivery note or date of purchase. Goods are returned to us at
the Owner’s risk and the Customer is responsible for insurance in transit. Goods being returned without full details will be left until there is time to
action them. All goods should be returned to:

The Company reserves the right to levy a re-warehousing charge of 15%

LETTER/PARCEL RESPONSIBILITY
In all cases of letters or parcels sent via the Post Office or any other
Agency, the Post Office or such Agency act for the Sender, and any late
or non-delivery is the responsibility of the Sender, therefore retain a
despatch document.
LIABILITY
The liability of REUBEN HEATON LTD to the Customer in respect of
defective or damaged goods shall be limited to replacement of the goods
in question or refund of the price paid by the Customer.
Except as expressly stated in these Terms of Trading, we shall be under
no liability for any loss or damage including consequential loss or
damage, use, or conversion, of the goods. The Customer will indemnify
us in respect of any claim brought by a third party against us in respect
of such loss or damage, providing always that nothing herein shall
exclude, or purport to exclude any liability of REUBEN HEATON LTD,
where such exclusion of liability is prohibited, void or unenforceable
under English law.
SETTLEMENT TERMS
Invoices are due for payment on receipt of the goods or on the receipt
for the invoice by the Customer, whichever is the later. All invoices on
account should be paid within 30 days of the invoice date unless written
terms have been agreed. Payment of cash or equivalent will only be
deemed to have been made when it has been received by REUBEN
HEATON LTD. Payment by cheque will only be deemed to have been
made when the cheque has been cleared by the Payor’s Bank. Payment
will first be set against outstanding credit and collection surcharges, then
the balance will be allocated to the reduction of the invoice balance.
No deduction in the payment of invoices may be made for goods
returned to us or not received by the Customer until we have issued a
credit note to the Customer.
OVERDUE ACCOUNTS
Any invoices which have not been paid within 30 days (or other period
agreed in writing) of the invoice will be classified as ‘overdue’ and will
immediately become subject to a credit surcharge of 2% (compound)
per month or part month. Any overdue account may be passed out
to Collection Agents at our sole discretion and without notice. Should
this be necessary, a collection surcharge of 10% of all sums then due
including the late payment and collection surcharges will be added
payable by the Customer. If a Summons/Writ is issued all allowable
court fees and legal costs will be claimed in addition to late payment and
collection surcharges and costs.
We also reserve the right to put forward dated and extended credit
invoices out for collection on the above terms at our sole discretion if
we have reason to feel we will be paid in full. We reserve the right to
suspend deliveries on all accounts, which are overdue for settlement.
RE-PRESENTED ‘BOUNCED’ CHEQUES AND ‘MISSED’
BANKERS ORDER PAYMENTS
Every time a cheque fails to clear the Customer’s bank on presentation,
we separately surcharge the Customer’s account with £10.00. In addition,
£10.00 will be surcharged to the Customer’s Bankers Order or Standing
Order to cover our administrative costs, and that of our Bankers.
RETENTION OF TITLE
Risk in the goods will pass to the Customer on delivery. Property (both
legal and beneficial) in the Goods shall remain in the Company until
the Company has received in cash or cleared funds payment for all
goods delivered to the Buyer under this and all other contracts between
the Company and the Buyer for which payment of the full price of the
goods has not been paid. Payment of the full price of the goods shall
include the amount of any interest or other sum payable under the
terms of this and all other contracts between the Company and the
Buyer under which the goods were delivered. (“ the Indebtedness”).
Until such time the Buyer shall hold the Goods as fiduciary agent and
bailee for the Company
The Customer shall keep and store all goods in such a manner that they
can be readily identified as items belonging to us.
If payment for the goods is overdue, in whole or in part, we shall have
the right to repossess the goods, and the Customer hereby irrevocably
grants permission to REUBEN HEATON LTD or its representatives, to
enter upon premised owned or under the control of the Customer and to
remove and if necessary detach the goods from such premises or from
any other goods or property.
The Customer shall have power to make bona-fide market sales of the
goods for the benefit of REUBEN HEATON LTD and the Customer shall
hold all proceeds for sales of such goods in trust for us.
The certificate of our Auditors as to the payments due to be paid to us
and the times of such payments, shall be binding upon the Customer and
not subject to arbitration or dispute in any Court of Law.
WEIGHTS AND MEASURES
Fishing tackle is not normally sold by weight, length or volume and these
are given to assist the description. The accuracy is not guaranteed.
APPLICABLE LAW
These Terms of Trading shall be construed in accordance with English
Law and shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the English courts.
DATA PROTECTION ACT
In accepting the Company’s offer to open and maintain a credit
account in the Buyer’s name, subject to these Terms and Conditions,
it is understood that the Company may exchange relevant trading
history with other interested parties, which information may be used
in assessing credit.

Returns Policy
All Reuben Heaton products are covered by our
12 month warranty. During this period, if any
manufacturing or material fault develops, the
item will be replaced, or repaired. Warranty does
not cover accidental damage, wear and tear or
damage caused by misuse. Our warranties are
non-transferrable.
In the unlikely event that a problem does develop
with your Reuben Heaton, product you should first
contact the retailer who supplied the goods. Should
it be necessary to return the goods, a receipt of
proof of purchase must be enclosed. Trade accounts
should contact our main office directly. A full version
of our terms of trading can be supplied on request.
Servicing of scales
Sending your scales in for service or repair couldn’t
be easier. Simply go to the After Sales page at
reubenheaton.com to find the service cost for your
scale model. Send your scales to us with a cheque for
the relevant amount. Should you wish to pay by credit
card, simply include a contact telephone number with
your accompanying letter so that we can contact you
for payment.
Servicing of scales will normally be completed within
24–48 hours of us receiving your item. If you require
your scales to be serviced and returned by a specific
date, please note this in your accompanying letter and
allow adequate time for the service and transit time of
your parcel. Please note that full payment is required
before work can begin on your product, and we will
wait for funds to clear before proceeding. For a list of

After Sales section of our web site. Prices are inclusive
of return carriage and VAT.
