OUTDOOR ADVENTURES
UNFOLD IN KENTUCKY.
The best way to enjoy Kentucky is outside! Your
adventure unfolds with hundreds of hiking trails and
sites for camping, thousands of miles of rivers and more
than 50 fishing and boating lakes, rafting and canoeing
expeditions, caves to be explored and nearly 900,000 acres
of national forests.
Kentucky state parks offer great home bases as you
experience Kentucky’s outdoors. Forty-nine state parks,
including 17 resorts with lodging accommodations,
blanket the commonwealth. Many of the parks offer
numerous soft adventures, and just outside the gates a
variety of world-class extreme adventures beckon.
Trails in Kentucky come in all shapes and sizes. As
pioneers and settlers moved westward in the 19th
Century, many traveled to and through Kentucky. Places
like the Cumberland Gap and the Wilderness Road were
vital to American expansion. Now, these historically
significant trails have evolved into a recreational trail
system that totals over 12,000 miles. Whether you are
looking for a month-long backpacking adventure or a
short Sunday afternoon stroll, Kentucky has a trail for you.
