at Sunflower and are committed to continue to provide premier entertainment
and quality lifestyle for your enjoyment.
Newcomers are excited to be here and
are telling their friends that this is the
lifestyle they have worked for and deserve!
I want to take a moment to thank all of
our volunteers for making this season
flow smoothly. We could never keep up
with clubs, tournaments, concerts,
advertising and events without the
countless hours you contribute to our
resort! February was unbelievably busy
and we have even more planned for
March. There is amazing talent coming
your way. The Surprise Pops Band will
be here, Back to the 50’s Concert, Come
Back Buddy for the Sock Hop/dance,
Dondino - Las Vegas style dinner show,
and our very own Sunflower Playhouse
presents “Drinking Habits.” You’re going to want costumes for Jimmy Buffet
Night, Blue Hawaii, Surfin’ Safari,
Jamaican Night, St. Paddy’s Day, our
Luau, and Woodstock Night. If that’s
not enough to keep you busy we’ll have
a Craft Show and a St. Patrick’s Day
Parade. Needless to say, March is going
to be blast!
There are lots of fun activities, shows and events
planned for March. Be sure to attend Tuesday
morning coffee and donuts for all the latest information happening in the Resort.
Every day is another opportunity to make new friends
and enjoy life to the fullest in the Arizona sun.
March is spring break time, the kids are coming.
Please follow the rules and regulations for the kids’
time at the pool area and keep the sun lotions and oils
to a minimum.
Please remember it’s “first come, first serve” so RV’ers
who intend to stay 3 months or longer next season
are encouraged to book your reservations. In addition,
if you’d like to start the fun earlier, you may take advantage of our Fall Special “4 months for the price of
1”. For more information please inquire at Guest Services.
For those who will be returning home this month; be
sure to see Guest Services to stop your sewer & trash.
You will also need to turn in your forwarding address
and mailing labels.
As always, we look forward to your return. Those of
you who have chosen to extend your vacation with us

Chef’s Corner
We are in the final stretch in what has been a phenomenal season. I see many of you around the resort on a daily basis and it
so nice to speak with all of you throughout the day. In many instances it may be only a brief interaction however, the sentiment is always so nice and positive. I do think we have made great strides this year and I fully expect those to carry over and
even get better next season. I know many of you will be returning home at the end of this month. Make sure you stop by and
see us before you go. Although it is a little early, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to my entire staff this year. You
have worked tirelessly through weather, last minute changes, multiple events the same day, and just done an amazing job. You
are the reason that we have been such an amazing team. I could not be prouder to be your team leader. I find myself looking
forward to trying new recipes, changing some menus around a bit and expanding choices for you upon your return. As always
our priorities will be quality product, availability, the best value possible and environmental responsibility.
Make plans to attend the seasons final food show and demonstration later this month. The theme will be finger foods and
cocktail hour. These are always well attended so get your tickets early. One of the things I hear frequently is that you attended
a show and then made a recipe that was demonstrated at the show and it was a great success. That is what the shows are all
about!

TMM = Tuesday Morning Meeting
Important message regarding power or water issues:
If you experience issues with your power or water at the
pedestal area, please contact Guest Services to report a
work order. We require OUR maintenance crew assess
the issue and repair in-house when possible. If
Sunflower is the responsible party and cannot repair inhouse, we will contact one of our approved vendors.
Sunflower RV Resort is not responsible for expenses
incurred by a homeowner when a vendor is contacted by
anyone other than Sunflower Management. If a problem
occurs on the weekend, please report your problem to
the Welcome Center Attendant.

the Activity Calendar - this is an “All Resident’s Meeting”.
Come and have FREE coffee and donuts with your neighbors
or meet some new people.
You will meet the Managers, get information about what is
going on around the resort, updates and changes that you
might not get anywhere else. Plus entertainment, comedy,
prizes, riddles are a great way to start the week.
Meeting usually lasts about 30 minutes and starts at 8:15am.

Sunflower its Volunteers! We could never do all of the things we do here at Sunflower Resort without YOU, our wonderful volunteers! We want to be certain all of your many hours are tracked successfully. To do that, we need your help. Each volunteer will be responsible for tracking and submi ng their individual hours. One form/paper per each Volunteer. (Please no mul ple names on one sheet) ‐ think of these sheets as individual me cards. Please pick up your Volunteer Tracking Forms in the Ac vity Office. Turn your sheets/ me cards in at the end of each month. In the spring all volunteers who have submi ed 20 or more hours for the season will be honored at our “Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon”

Tiki Hut, Bistro, Bistro Veranda & Pool The Tiki Hut, Bistro, Bistro Veranda & Pool are licensed premises, therefore no alcoholic beverages may be brought to the area and NO alcoholic beverages taken out of the area according to the Arizona Law A.R.S. 4‐244(32), (40). Pool ‐ No glass may be brought into the pool area. You may bring food into the Tiki and/or the Pool area Mail Room Please no in‐resort mail smaller than a half page. All in resort mail must have name and site number for both the sender and receiver. Resident Safety Sidewalks must be le clear of vehicles and other items. Please be sure that you have your vehicle/golf cart lights on at dusk and dawn so that you can see your fellow residents walking through our Resort. 
No parking in empty RV sites, violators will be towed at their expense 

1. Make sure that you come up to Guest Services and notify us
of your departure date. We will adjust any sewer and trashing billing along with filling out a mail forwarding form for the
mailroom and print forwarding labels for you if needed.
There are 30 labels on a sheet and the cost is $1.00 per
sheet.
2. Guest Services has a check list that’s available indicating a
park model owner’s summer responsibilities even after you’ve
departed the resort. Please stop in and pick one up.

“ D r i n k i n g H a b i t s ” Hits the Stage
March 6, 7 & 8
The wait is nearly over. Mum has been the word. But now, all the secrets
and whispers will be revealed in the Playhouse presentation of “Drinking
Habits” March 6th - 8th, in the Sunflower Ballroom. You’ll see firsthand
why these nuns have been sneaking about the resort. And, it will make for
some real laughs.
Our playhouse group has been at work since last fall to present this humorous tale of accusations, mistaken identities and convent romances. There
is more than sewing happening at the Sister’s of Perpetual Sewing Convent. Two sisters have perfected the art of wine making.
It’s a tale told in a clever humorous way by a Playhouse group of 5 actresses and 3 actors. A skilled stage crew including light and sound technicians support them. The results are hilarious as have been the past plays
in recent years.
All residents are welcome to join the Sunflower Playhouse.

Art Club- Welcome to the Sunflower Art Club where a
variety of artists styles and mediums are encouraged. Whatever your skill, talent or genre, we’d like to see you and your
work. Join the camaraderie, ask for help and assist others
with any challenges they may be having. Participate in the
annual Craft Show in the Spring. We meet every week until
Spring. Mon- 12:30-4pm in the Art Room (upstairs), Tue9am-4pm in the Surprise Room and Wed & Thu -9am-4pm in

Stained Glass - Monthly meeting 1st Monday of the month

Sunflower Potteramics Club - We welcome one and all
Nantucket Basket Club - Meets in the Surprise Room
to our Potteramics Club. Learn how to create and practice
your skills in ceramics, hand-built and wheel-thrown pottery.
Drop in anytime to our studio, Monday - Friday 9am-4pm and
take a look at what’s happening and meet some of our
members. Class sign-up sheets are available. Come to class

purchased and molds be borrowed before the weekly meeting

Sunflower Stitchers - Membership is open to all Sunflower
residents. Members pay $10 for supplies, events and classes
and $10 for a locker when available. Members meet the second Tue of each month at 3:30pm in Social Hall. The next
meeting is on March 8th. The sewing room is open daily until
9pm. Community Service Projects include - Pillowcase
Dresses, Comfort Care Bags and Comfort Caps (meet Mon 13pm), Quilts for Kids (meet Thu 1-3pm) & Quilts for
Needlers - Meets Wed from 1-3pm in the Poker Room. We
knit, crochet, cross stitch or any other craft using needles. It
is a chance to get out, meet and make new friends; learn how
to knit or crochet and get help and share new projects. No

Veterans (meet Wed 1-3) Anyone is welcome to come in and
enjoy an afternoon of sewing on all levels for these service
projects. The Patches Newsletter is available on the 15th of
each month in the Sewing Room. The monthly Class Schedule is available at the membership meetings and also in the
Sewing Room. Class sign-up sheets are available 14 days
prior to the scheduled class. Be sure to stop by the sewing
room to find out about what’s happening and being created!
Mark your calendar for the 3/12 Craft/Quilt Show in the sewing
room/Social Hall. Stop by our tables at the Vendor Market on
March 19th, in the Ballroom, to see beautiful items for sale.
Co-Ed Exercise - We have had several new people this
season and everyone is having a great time. Come on over
to the BR at 8am every Mon, Wed an Fri. We do 15
minutes standing and 15 minutes on the mat. We go until
about 8:45am. It’s a super way to start out the day and we
have wonderful supportive group here and a “feel good
feeling” when you are done. I may be going to the 15th of
April, depending on the number of people still here. Any

Wood Carving - The SF Wood carving shop is open from
9am-4pm - Mon-Fri. The club meets the first Monday of the
month at 1pm for a business meeting. Join us and we’ll show
you how to make something out of a block of wood. No experience necessary. We were all beginners once. Classes and
demonstrations will be held during the season and will be
posted on the bulletin board outside the Carving Shop. More

Bicycle Club (Sunflower) - Meets Mon and Fri mornings
at 9am at the staging area across from the covered wagon.
Bring water, coffee/donut money and wear a bicycle helmet.
We ride through local neighborhoods and along the “river” and
canal, stopping midway for coffee. One group rides 20-25
miles at a moderate pace of 10-12mph returning around noon.
A second group rides under 20 miles at a slower pace of 910mph, usually returning before noon. The third group travels
around 30 miles at a slightly brisker pace of 12-14mph, returning by 1pm. Wednesdays, a more advance group rides longer
distances (35+ miles) at a faster pace, starting at 9am. All
riders are welcome; come join the camaraderie and enjoy our
wonderful scenery.

the weather was wonderful. We had 4 teams of 7 each and
did some crazy fun games. Then we ended the day with our
annual Steak Fry, baked potatoes, salad and dessert. We will
be having our last tournament on the 5th of March followed
with our luncheon and meeting. We have a new Ball Machine
so we can practice and you can call our Pres Tim or VP Curt
for any instructions on it. Also they will help with lessons if you
wish. To those that are leaving the end of March, have a wonderful and healthy summer and we are looking forward to seeing you next fall. Thanks to everyone for a great season. If

AARP Smart Driver Course - AARP Smart Driver Courses left this season - Mar 2nd. Is Full
Bulls and Bears - If you have investments in stocks,
bonds, mutual funds or other financial assets, you will want
to attend our meetings. Group will discuss various subjects
that will make us better investors and offer suggestions on
where to invest your money and how to grow and protect
your financial assets. We will also bring in various financial
experts from brokerage firms who will share their outlook for
the stock market in 2016 and offer investment ideas. We
meet every Monday at 9am in the Surprise Room.
Sunflower Singles - We meet every Monday at 4pm in the
Sunflower Room until mid April. Purpose of this club is for
single people to meet other single people with whom they

meet from 11am-12pm. I don’t teach or play the hammered
dulcimer, although we welcome them to come and play with
the group. New songs are taught from 12pm-1:30pm and
jamming with all levels is from 1:30-3pm (all times approxi-
11:30am in the BR Annex.

Sunflower Worship - Worship services each Sunday
morning at 9:30am in the Ballroom. The last Worship Ser19
vice will be on Easter, March 27th, communion will be
served. Join the choir which meets each Sunday morning at
8am for practice before services. Bible study given each
Tuesday in the Social Hall at 10:30am by Pastor Jerry Miller

As the warmer weather comes, this is the me when food banks see an increased demand for food. As the kids leave school (no subsidized lunches), Arizonans who are already struggling have an uphill ba le to feed their families. Can you help? From March 14th ‐ April 1st, we will be collec ng non‐perishable items (peanut bu er, canned vegeta‐
bles/fruit, rice, pasta, beans etc. NO glass please) to help St. Mary’s Food Bank. As you clean out your pantries bring your items to the Ac vity Office and drop in the collec on boxes. Thank you for helping others. 20

Food for Kidz
(Help package 50,000 meals)
Guests Welcome!
On March 13th, Sunflower will be hosting Food for Kidz in the Ballroom. This is a volunteer/donor event to help
fight hunger. Volunteers will measure, weigh and package specially designed nutritious meals. Sign up to volunteer for a 1.5 hour shift. Shifts start at 2pm and 4pm. Sign up sheets will be available on the bulletin board and also
at SF church services.
Please consider a donation to help cover the cost of the meals. Meals only cost $ .15 each, but we need to raise
$7500. to purchase the ingredients. Tax deductible donations can be sent to: Food for Kidz, Box 687, Sunflower.
The meals will be given to the Valley View Community Food Bank.
It is a fun and rewarding volunteer opportunity that is designed for people of all ages. An older generation caring
