THE IDEA
Dedicated to sharing accounts of adventure, innovation,
style and discovery – and of the people that visit, contemplate,
document and inhabit the outer edges of our world in culture,
fashion, as well as on mountains and in the oceans, Avaunt
will offer discerning portrayals of extraordinary people with
incisive and unconventional insights, whilst uncovering the
undeniable synergy between fashion brands with heritage and
adventure stories.
Avaunt will be an inspirational, beautifully produced biannual
title that references early National Geographic and Twen and
more recent titles such as Vogue Homme and The New York
Times Magazine.
Featuring an extremely high caliber of editorial and
photographic contributors, with a large dedicated fashionwell, Avaunt will be unlike anything on the market right now,
appealing to people interested not only in adventure and style,
but the greater world around them.
EDITORIAL OVERVIEW
Avaunt will illuminate the nature of adventure and style through a broad editorial filter.
Sample articles include:
• Real explorers in styled fashion shoots
• Fire Tornadoes, a photo essay by Brigette Lacombe
• Luxury still-life clothing shoot

to the South Pole and back
retracing for the first time in full
Captain Scott’s ill-fated Terra
Nova route.
Ben is a global brand ambassador

Dan Crowe is an award-winning

Emily Bell is the first girl to kayak
the length of Britain. She spent
4 1/2 months kayaking the coast
of Britain, from England and
Wales across to Ireland and back
to Scotland, through storms,
darkness and bitter cold. Before
stepping in her kayak at Lands
End, she had a self-confessed
water phobia and had never
kayaked before, let alone in
the ocean.
In 2012, she stand-up paddle
boarded 1001 miles down the
Lower Missouri having never
stand-up paddle boarded before.
She spent 60 days sleeping on the
banks of the river.
She was managing editor at Pomp
Magazine until 2013. And is now
editor of the Merrell Outdoors
blog in the UK.

AVAUNT ANNUAL EVENT:
EXPERIENCE ADVENTURE
October 2015 will see the launch of Avaunt Events.
The exciting two-day event will bring together all
that is exciting and challenging in the magazine and
brings its content to life. Not just a simple sit down
series of lectures, it will feature a mixture of key-note
speeches by iconic men and women, plus events with
a more hands on approach, from extraordinary food
and drink experiences to next generation science
experiences that will blow your mind.
The events will take place in the Royal Geographic
Society and The Royal Institute on the 6th and 7th
October 2015.
THE AVAUNT BRAND
Avaunt will communicate
directly with the growing
adventure lifestyle market
with apps, sponsored events,
lectures and podcasts, and
will be seeking sponsorship
for an annual Avaunt
summit, a ticket-based event
with inspirational speakers
and exhibits. We will also
be looking to co-produce
limited edition apparel
lines with boutique clothing
brands, to maximise profit
and creative control.
READER PROFILE*
The Avaunt reader will be mostly male, aged 30+
and working in professional careers. They use
their free time to take part in adventure activities
such as Ironman, Marathon des Sables, selforganised mountaineering and long-distance cycle
journeys. They'll be well educated, well traveled
and savvy about adventure brands and adventure
content in general. They'll be looking for stories
and photography beyond the average adventure
editorial that has now become mainstream. They are
interested in exploration and science and the world
at large, but also fashion, taking pride in how they
look and what they buy. In other words, they are a
discerning audience who demand more.
They enjoy buying expensive kit (the bikes, the
clothes, the gadgets) and are highly motivated. They
are individuals who once subscribed to National
Geographic and Wonderlust, but need something
more intelligent, stylish and authentic.
