General Information
Overview
This document is the Q2 2004 version of the ActivCard Product Guide. It complements the ActivCard
World Wide Price List. This ActivCard Product Guide is provided for informational purposes only and is
subject to the Intellectual Property and Document Purpose Statement below.

available in the ActivCard Worldwide Price List.
Packaging
Most Software products sold include a Product CD Package identifier and a User License identifier.
When ordering a product, the customer must order one package plus the appropriate number of user
licenses. For example, 100 users = 1 package + 100 user license.
• Software packages include a CD-ROM with a shrink-wrap software license agreement, manuals
(user and installation guides, and API reference manuals when appropriate), and hardware when
appropriate
• Subsequent orders of software licenses do not require the purchase of additional packages
Licensing
ActivCard licenses its software products for use by the purchaser. It does not sell ownership of its
software. A shrink-wrap Software License Agreement is included with ActivCard server and client
software products. To the extent that a sale will require any Professional Services engagement, an
executed License Agreement may be required. Software Development Kits, Beta test, and evaluation
products require the use of a separate license agreement. The ActivCard Legal Department can provide
any necessary agreements and address any questions.
Export
Some ActivCard products are subject to U.S., French and other applicable jurisdictions regulating export
of products which are governed by cryptography laws. Therefore, they may not be exportable and
usable in all countries. Contact your local ActivCard representative or refer to the ActivCard Software
License agreement for details.

ActivCard Tokens for ActivCard AAA Server come with lifetime replacement with purchase of
ActivCard AAA Server Advanced Maintenance.
Standard Credit Terms
Standard credit terms are net thirty days from date of invoice (see General terms and conditions), unless
otherwise stated in a signed agreement between the parties.
Software Maintenance
Software Maintenance is offered with each ActivCard software product. Customers may purchase either
Standard Maintenance or Advanced Maintenance. Maintenance subscriptions ensure the immediate
availability of any changes to covered software, and lower costs of software upgrades. If a sale is direct
from ActivCard to the customer, ActivCard will provide the customer’s knowledgeable Administrators with
level 3 support. If the sale goes through a channel partner, ActivCard will provide level 3 support to the
partner.
Relationship with Help Desk Support:
The customer helpdesk is responsible for providing level 1 support within its organization. When
customers purchase maintenance through the channel, the channel is responsible for providing Level 2
support to the customer. When customers purchase maintenance directly from ActivCard, the
customer’s administration and helpdesk is responsible for providing some Level 2 support in addition to
Level 1 support. ActivCard will provide Level 3 support (and some Level 2 support) directly to the
customer’s helpdesk.
Terms:
One Year Subscription. Maintenance is a 12-month subscription, purchased separately for each
product.
90 day Purchase Timeframe. Maintenance may be purchased at time of purchase, or within 90 days
of the original software purchase.
No Volume Pricing. Maintenance is priced as a function of the net software price, not as a function of
license volume.
Maintenance includes ActivCard Level 3 Standard Support.
No Upgrades during term of subscription. There are no upgrades from Standard to Advanced
Maintenance in the midst of a current subscription.
Subscription Upgrade at time of Renewal. Subscriptions may be upgraded from Standard to
Advanced at time of renewal, but require that the customer purchase an upgrade, if applicable, to
the latest version of covered software under its expiring Standard Maintenance Agreement.
Renewal. Maintenance subscriptions may be renewed annually, at then-current pricing. For
subscriptions that have expired, customer is responsible for lapsed fees plus a 5% reinstatement fee.
The renewed subscription will begin at the end of the previous subscription.
Renewal fees. Renewal fees are based on the accumulated number of licenses that a customer
owns.
Maintenance Renewal for Phase Out Products. Customers will be able to renew subscriptions for
phase out products until the published End of Life date. See Phase Out Products section or contact
ActivCard for more information.

Update means a subsequent release, patch, hot fix, or version of the Products that ActivCard makes
generally available at no additional Fee for its customers covered under a Maintenance
subscription.
Upgrade means a major release or successor product of the ActivCard Software Product such that
the feature and function of such product is altered and is made available at an additional cost.
Upgrades are generally identified by the same product name and incrementing the numeral
immediately to the left of the decimal point in the version number. If a question arises as to whether
a product offering is an Upgrade or an Update, ActivCard’s sole determination will prevail, provided
that ActivCard generally treats such product offering uniformly for its end user customers.
Standard Maintenance:

Includes Error Corrections, Updates and subsequent versions that are made generally available to
customers that have purchased Standard Maintenance.
Includes Upgrades at a discounted price.
Requires self-registration by customer to activate subscription.

Like Standard Maintenance, delivers Error Corrections, Updates and subsequent versions to
purchased version for one year.

Unlike Standard Maintenance, customers must sign an Advanced Maintenance Agreement,
available from the ActivCard Legal Department.

PRICE:

Software Support
ActivCard expects its customers and partners to provide their customers or employees with Level 1 and
most Level 2 support functions. ActivCard offers three types of Level 3 support to enhance these services
and meet a customer’s full support needs. Level 3 support requires the purchase of an ActivCard
Maintenance Agreement (Standard or Advanced) for the products covered. All Maintenance agreements
include Level 3 Standard Support. ActivCard offers two Extended Support options in addition to the
Standard Support included with a Maintenance subscription.
Standard Support (included with Maintenance subscription)
Standard Support is provided to all customers who purchase a Maintenance subscription. It is not a standalone product. It provides Level 3 support for qualified problems. Qualified Level 3 requests must escalate
via the Level 2 support team (either customer or partner). Standard Support does not come with defined
service levels and response times. ActivCard’s support staff will address Standard Support requests in
accordance with industry standards or on terms as otherwise advised by ActivCard.
Standard support is provided via telephone or email. ActivCard’s Support team is available to handle
requests within the region of the originating request during the following hours:
North America: 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. ET (5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PT)
Europe: 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. GMT
Extended Support Options (Premium Support and Premium 24x7 Support)
ActivCard provides two extended support options for customers who require a higher level of assistance
than that offered with Standard Support. The two options are “Premium Support” or “Premium 24x7
Support”.

For extended support customers, ActivCard is able to simulate the customer’s operating environment in
ActivCard’s Customer Support Labs. This allows for optimal trouble-shooting and is how ActivCard
maintains in-depth knowledge of the customer's deployment and configuration. ActivCard will designate
a Support Engineer to follow customer problems, issues and requests. All extended support customers
have secure access to the on-line ActivCard Support Center where they can access technical
information, submit support requests, update tickets, and track open tickets. It is understood that
provision of extended support is conditioned upon customers having a knowledgeable team of experts
that can troubleshoot and determine the faulty components upon failure. ActivCard provides high-Level
2 and Level 3 support to the customer’s experts who are trained and knowledgeable in the operation and
use of ActivCard solutions.

Premium Support
Premium Support offers expanded service hours, priority service and defined response times.
ActivCard’s support team is able to re-create the customer’s technical environment in the ActivCard
Customer Support labs within 2 hours. Additional technical environment reproduction fees may apply.
This allows the support team to effectively resolve problems. Premium Support response times are
defined. Premium Support is provided from ActivCard Customer Support Centers in California and
France, resulting in expanded hours of coverage every weekday, excepting on local holidays. This
provides more extensive coverage than Standard Support, but not full 24x7 coverage. Contact
ActivCard for more information.

Premium 24x7 Support
Premium 24 x 7 Support offers the highest level of support from ActivCard’s experienced Support
Engineers. Premium 24x7 Support expands on Premium Support to deliver 24-hour, 7-day a week,
coverage, plus the shortest target response times. ActivCard maintains a dedicated simulation of the
customer’s production environment in its Customer Support Labs. Premium 24x7 customers may have
up to 6 designated ActivCard experts for point of contact. Contact ActivCard for more information.

DESCRIPTION:
The Enterprise Access Card Solution includes the ActivCard CMS and ActivClient (for Windows)
software enabling organizations to easily issue, manage and use smart cards for increased IT
security. Smart cards issued with this solution can be used for: Windows and network login,
secure web access, digital signing, PC locking (on card removal) and a variety of other
applications. This offering includes the 'core' ActivCard CMS providing issuance, post-issuance
updates, self-service support, and auditing. One supported certificate authority connector is
included.

PACKAGING AND LICENSING INFORMATION:
Pricing is on a per-user (cardholder) basis and includes the latest versions of ActivClient and
ActivCard CMS. Additional CMS components can be added to the solution, please see the CMS
Components section of this product guide.
Organizations with mixed workstation environments may upgrade the ActivClient license included
in the Enterprise Access Card Solution bundle to support Macintosh®, Linux® or Solaris
workstations. Please see the ActivCard Gold™ for Macintosh, Linux or Solaris for details on this

DESCRIPTION:
Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) are used when deploying any configurations with the
ActivCard CMS in a production environment. An HSM is a hardware-based cryptographic
processing and key management device. ActivCard CMS leverages hardware security modules
(HSMs) to provide a number of functions such as securing the channel of communications
between the CMS server and the smart cards.
For customer evaluations, ActivCard CMS can be deployed without an HSM. An 'Evaluation
License' is required. The “Software HSM” is a software tool that simulates the functionality of a
hardware security module (HSM). The purpose of this tool is to enable testing and evaluation of
ActivCard CMS without purchasing an HSM. The intent of the Software HSM is to enable low cost
evaluations.
HSMs must be used in production environments. Deployment architectures vary, but minimum
configurations typically require the use of two HSM ‘readers’ and three HSM ‘cards’. This
configuration provides the redundancy required for a secure, uninterrupted deployment.
