Brain Basics and Learning: This unit spotlights attention, retention, memory
and transfer as four brain functions that have crucial implications for
teaching and learning, and introduces four phases of interactive teaching.
Instructional Methods: The art of assisting students as they discover content
through the use of interactive instructional methods and support materials.
Assessing Learner Progress: Discover the purposes for assessment, and
how assessment works through various assessment methods.

This year, City of Hope honored Reuben Carranza with the Spirit of Life Award during
Beauty Week. The North American Leader of Wella, the Salon Professional Division
of P&G, selected to focus this year’s charitable efforts on diabetes, an epidemic that
affects more than 347 million people around the world, many of whom are hairdressers.
Pivot Point believes that, like the salon professional industry, the beauty education
industry can make a difference in the fight against diabetes.

Funk Up Your Head
Funk Up Your Head is an international
mannequin competition open exclusively to
Pivot Point students worldwide.
The competition rules are simple: NO RULES.
Students only need to purchase a kit that includes
one Pivot Point mannequin so everyone starts off
equally and they are asked to let their creativity
take the lead. Students are asked to combine
design skills and a passion for hairdressing – they
can think bold, big, outside the box – to come up
with a finished mannequin that is entirely unique
and represents them as a designer.
Part of FUYH is bringing the new generation of
learners into the Pivot Point community. What
better way to do so than to interact with them in
their preferred space – online?
