Find out by taking the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT), offered by the California Fire Fighter Joint Apprenticeship Committee (CFFJAC). With the clock ticking, this comprehensive test evaluates your physical ability to complete eight critical firefighting tasks. When you pass the CPAT, you will receive a CFFJAC CPAT Card of Completion. This card is accepted as proof of your physical ability by over 100 fire departments in California. The registration fee includes two orientation sessions and the CPAT itself. Timed practice runs are also available each week for a nominal fee so you can prepare for the CPAT and take it when you are ready.
