BUDGET Car hire and accommodation = $983 or $1130 per person twin share depending on car hire Work on $1200 per person for the airfare Petrol is subsidised in Malaysia and is less than half the price we pay in Australia. Food prices will vary depending on whether we eat in the hotels or eat out. Hawker food is delicious and very cheap. The climate encourages you to eat outside. We have been made extremely welcome by the club, and their members will join us on our route and in the evenings at our dinners. We are also trying to coincide our event with their AGM which usually includes a track day. Awaiting finalisation of their calendar so we will have certainty on their events before we depart. DAY 1 & 2: MALACCA TUESDAY 28TH & WEDNESDAY 29TH AUGUST • • • • Leisurely drive south to Malacca Buildings and culture from Malay, Portuguese, Dutch and British heritage including Cheng Hoon Teng temple (the oldest functioning Chinese temple in Malaysia), Kapitan Kling Mosque, Stadhuy’s Building, Malacca Clock Tower, Christ Church and the famous Porta de Santiago Museums, churches, shopping Antique shopping on Jonker Street Bayview Hotel Malacca (Superior room) Right in the heart of town, Bayview Hotel Melaka is just minutes away from the business district. It's location is in close proximity to entertainment, shopping and famous historical sights. DAY 3: CHERATING THURSDAY 30TH AUGUST • • • Cherating is famous for its white sandy beaches Local village gives a good idea of village life Local attractions include top spinning (gasing), mat weaving, leatherback turtles laying their eggs (not guaranteed), coconut plucking monkeys and other sports activities Impiana Resort Cherating (Deluxe room) Every room in this Malaysian resort allows you to be closer to nature and wake up to the peaceful sound of the ocean. DAY 4: KUALA TERENGGANU FRIDAY 31ST AUGUST • Journey along coastal road through Kemaman, Dungun, Kuala Terengganu and through Kuala Berang to Kenyir Lake • Kenyir Lake is one of the largest man-made lakes in the world at 260,000 hectares • Contains 340 islands, with countless pristine cascading waterfalls and rivers from which flows crystal clear water from the surrounding highlands • The surrounding areas are home to an enormous variety of plants and animals Lake Kenyir Resort Terengganu (Garden View room) Spanning over 60 acres, this Terengganu resort stands majestically on the banks of Lake Kenyir, Malaysia's largest lake, and is surrounded by the world's oldest tropical rainforest. Confirmation of reservation is subject to availability of the car models at the time of enquiry All vehicles will be rented out with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with the same level of fuel. Any differences in fuel will be charged at Mayflower’s standard refuelling charges. Vehicles must be filled with unleaded petrol unless specified otherwise. Driver must be at least 21 years old. Maximum driver age is 70 years old. Driver must possess a valid driving licence from any Commonwealth Country which is in English or an International Driving Permit with a qualified driving experience of at least one year. Probationary licence will not be accepted.
