The Blairsville campus offers both campus-managed housing and community-referred housing. The following pages offer an overview of recommended housing areas, housing policies and costs, as well as additional information about living in Blairsville. The policies in this handbook are subject to change without notification. This housing option is subject to rules and policies set forth by WyoTech. Dependent students with no postsecondary credit must live in campus-managed housing. Dependent students with less than two years of postsecondary credit may be required to live in campus-managed housing depending upon space available. Notwithstanding the above, WyoTech reserves the right to require certain students to live in campusmanaged housing based upon individual circumstances. Benefits of Campus-Managed Housing n Students reside in close proximity to one another. This facilitates carpooling and allows students to establish new friendships and participate in housing activities. Students are surrounded by others who share the same general interests and goals, which makes for a more supportive community. n WyoTech in Blairsville campus-managed housing provides heat, electricity, cable TV, water, sewer, garbage, and general maintenance at no extra charge to the student. n Campus-managed housing residents have direct access to the maintenance department with 24-hour on-call emergency service. n WyoTech in Blairsville provides staff that facilitate the safety and security of the WyoTech property and, most importantly, students, staff, faculty and visitors. 2 Community-Referred Housing From the privacy of a single bedroom apartment to the benefits of renting a house with other students, we’ll help you find living arrangements that will fit your needs and budget. There are a large number of communities offering rental accommodations in the Blairsville area. Housing assignments and roommate requests are made on a first-come, first-served, when space is available basis. Our housing office strives to make roommate assignments based on requests from students. WyoTech is not responsible for stolen or damaged items. 10 Required Documents The following forms will allow you to select and secure your housing preference: n Housing Application- An application for housing, both campus-managed and community-referred, to begin the housing process. – A $50 non-refundable application fee must be submitted with housing applications requesting campus-managed housing. – A $150 housing security deposit must be submitted with housing applications requesting campus-managed housing. This deposit is refunded if the applicant cancels his/her application more than 30 days prior to his/her start date. n Meningitis Policy Compliance Form- A form with information regarding meningitis and vaccination options. This signed form should be submitted with your signed housing contract. n Housing Contract- A contract between you and WyoTech that secures campus-managed housing. This contract will be provided when you move in and a copy will be issued for your records. Renter’s Insurance Whether you choose campus-managed or community-referred housing, neither WyoTech nor the owners of the housing premises, if other than WyoTech, are liable for loss or theft of personal property or for damages or destruction of such property by fire, water, or other causes. Housing payments received after the fifth day of the month could be subject to a $50 late fee. Contract Dates The contract is in effect during the time period indicated in your housing contract. You must give the housing office 60 days written notice if you wish to renew your housing contract. Failure to provide this notification will result in your housing contract terminating on the end date indicated on your housing contract. Your housing contract charges will continue until you complete an official checkout of your assigned unit. If a student is caught smoking at the apartments, he/she may also be evicted for a safety violation. Application/Contract Cancellation The housing application and housing contract are required to secure campus housing. A $50 application fee and $150 security deposit are required to be submitted along with the housing application. If cancellation occurs more than 30 calendar days prior to the student’s start date, all housing monies paid, less the $50 application fee, will be returned within 30 days.
