Report of Awareness Workshops on “Intellectual Property Rights & Patenting” at
Diploma/Degree Engineering Colleges at Bhavnagar Sankul
GTU Innovation Council organized series of awareness workshops on “Intellectual
Property Rights & Patenting” at Engineering Colleges of Bhavnagar Sankul. 125
Diploma/Degree students participated in each of the three workshops, total of 375 students
were provided the awareness about the Intellectual Property Rights & Patenting.
The workshops were held at:
1. Sir Bhavsinhji Polytechnic Institute, Bhavnagar.
2. Government Engineering College, Bhavnagar.
Workshops at Sir Bhavsinhji Polytechnic Institute, Bhavnagar on 18th February, 2012 & 17th
March, 2012
Prof. Dr. G.D. Acharya (Co-Chairman Academia Bhavnagar Sankul), Prof. Dr. K.G. Mehta
(Principal) & Prof. M.K. Shukla (Head Mech. Eng. Dept), Co-ordinator & member of UDISHA
club inaugurated the IPR workshop at Sir Bhavsinhji Polytechnic Institute, Bhavnagar. Prof. Dr.
N.C. Desai (Head Dept. of Chemistry, Bhavnagar Uni.) delivered session on need of IPR to the
Diploma Students, explaining the its importance and the how a patent helps the students for
their personal growth. Prof. V.G. Kargasthala (Ex. Head Centre of Excellence) delivered session
on Procedure of IPR & Patenting, Prof. highlighted about the procedure of filling the patent and
the necessary steps including the drafting to finalization.

Shah (Chief Guest), Shri Ketan Bhatt (Speaker) , Ms. Nidhi Bhatt(Speaker) & Ms. Kavita Shah
(Speaker) inaugurated the IPR Workshop at Government Engineering College, Bhavnagar. Shri
Ketan Bhatt & Shri Hiren Thakkar from H.K. Acharya & Co., Ahmedabad were the speakers who
explained the students regarding the basics of patenting, need of patenting and the procedure
of filling the patent. After the speakers session there was a question answer session in which
the students interacted freely with the mentors and solved their queries.

Shri S. S. Engineering College organized one day workshop on IPR & PATENTING on 30
March, 2012, the following topics were covered with the Expert. Prof. M. V Bhatti Principal and
Prof. Dr. M. G. Bhatt Head Production Engg. Dept. (Director of Engineering College, Bhavnagar
Sankul), Prof. Kiran Trivedi, and Prof. Mehul Zazal were Organization committee members for
the work shop.
