Township of Centre Wellington Municipal Heritage Register List of Cultural and Heritage Significant Properties (Pursuant to Section 27 of the Ontario Heritage Act, R.S.O. 1990, as amended) Print Date: February 2013 Foreword Municipalities have a responsibility to identify, evaluate and conserve resources that have lasting cultural heritage value or interest in their community. The Township of Centre Wellington’s Municipal Heritage Register is the official record of cultural heritage properties that have been identified as being important to the community. The Register is a living document and as such a work-in-progress that is revised and updated as needed and should grow, change and be updated as cultural heritage properties continue to be identified and refined. The Township of Centre Wellington’s Register of Cultural Heritage Properties includes 104 properties designated under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act; the Brock Street Heritage Conservation District (6 homes); and 567 “Listed” (nondesignated) properties as approved by Council on December 10, 2012. The Registry is divided into three sections: SECTION 1 Individual properties designated under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act SECTION 2 Neighbourhood Heritage Conservation Districts designated under Part V of the Ontario Heritage Act SECTION 3 “Listed” properties of cultural heritage value or interest. In addition Council permission is required prior to the demolition of any designated property. A = A very fine/rare example of a particular architectural style and/or a site of prominent landmark, historical event/individual/association. The architectural integrity of the original building is substantially maintained. B = A good example of architectural style and/or representing some historical event/individual/association. The architectural integrity of the original building is maintained with some modification/additions.
