List of Cultural and Heritage Significant Properties
(Pursuant to Section 27 of the Ontario Heritage Act, R.S.O. 1990, as amended)
Print Date: February 2013
Foreword
Municipalities have a responsibility to identify, evaluate and conserve resources that have lasting cultural heritage value or
interest in their community. The Township of Centre Wellington’s Municipal Heritage Register is the official record of
cultural heritage properties that have been identified as being important to the community. The Register is a living
document and as such a work-in-progress that is revised and updated as needed and should grow, change and be
updated as cultural heritage properties continue to be identified and refined.
The Township of Centre Wellington’s Register of Cultural Heritage Properties includes 104 properties designated under
Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act; the Brock Street Heritage Conservation District (6 homes); and 567 “Listed” (nondesignated) properties as approved by Council on December 10, 2012.
The Registry is divided into three sections:
SECTION 1
Individual properties designated under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act
SECTION 2
Neighbourhood Heritage Conservation Districts designated under Part V of the Ontario Heritage Act
SECTION 3
“Listed” properties of cultural heritage value or interest.
Part of taking stock is deciding as a community which resources are most important to conserve today and for future
generations.
