Sash Windows
Our bespoke sliding sash windows are supplied with traditional
weights and pulleys, or modern spiral balanced mechanisms. Spiral
balances are neatly concealed behind a timber trim meaning no
un-sightly mechanism is on display.
With years of manufacturing experience, we have produced
a comprehensive range of vertical sliding windows including
semi-circular heads and bow fronted windows.
Our Sash Windows are suitable for new-build, refurbishment
and commercial projects. Beautiful design with precision manufacture gives our sliding sash windows a traditional appearance
with superior modern performance

SASH WINDOWS,
LANCASHIRE
This 17th century farmhouse in the Lancashire countryside has been lovingly restored by
its owners with a complete rennovation. This was part of a larger project which included replacing all windows with modern timber sliding sash and to the rear of the home, a beautiful
large orangery extension was added.
The sash windows are perfectly inkeeping with the home and the ‘raw hessian’ colour blends
well with the pale brickwork.

Our beautifully crafted sash windows are available with both traditional counterbalanced lead weights
or concealed spring balances. Whichever option you decide, you will be presented with a smooth operating window that will enhance the look of your property for many years to come.
Weatherproofing Gasket
Moulds
Our window gasket system is designed to provide you with a
draught-free weather seal, while our frames are designed to allow any
excess water to drain off.
We offer a range of sash moulds allowing you to further
customise your windows. Internal sash moulds are available
in Ovolo, Lambs Tongue or Square.
Lead Weights
Horns
Lead weighted windows are the traditional system for vertical
sliding windows. The weight of the opening sash is counterbalanced
by lead weights that provide just the right amount of counter
balance to support the sash, but not too much so that the window can
be smoothly opened. We only use the highest quality sash cord within
our windows.
Moulded sash horns are available to top and bottom sashes.
Simply specify your preference when requesting a quotation.
Spiral Balances
Spiral balance operation gives a modern and cost effective alternative
to traditional lead weights. Using a pre-tensioned spring system, they
are designed to counter balance the sash, holding it in any position.
Whilst balances aren’t designed as a mechanical opening device, they
do give some level of assistance when opening the window. Unlike
many suppliers currently on the market, our spiral balances are hidden
within the window framework meaning you do not see any unsightly,
plastic tubing in our windows.
Frame Types
As well as the two different lift systems, we also have two different
frame types to choose from. Our standard frame depth of 160mm is
suitable for most situations; however we also have a slimmer 144mm
depth heritage sash window. This sash window is popular in period
buildings and can accommodate slimlite glass and single glazing.
Specials
Our experience and advanced manufacturing techniques
allow us to produce extremely varied designs including
products such as curved glass windows.Where practical, we
can alter rail or style widths to suit the design requirements.
Variations of glass specification, finish and ironmongery
options can all accommodated. Our expertise and flexibility
allow us to deliver a quality product whilst still giving the
ability to customise your joinery.
Nosings
External sill nosings are fitted on site into a pre-machined
groove in the framing. These come in a range of projection
sizes: 30mm (stub), 80mm (standard), 107 or 137 (extended).
We can also supply internal painted windowboards on request. These are available in MDF or Hardwood and slot into
a pre-machined grove on the internal face of the frame sill.

Timber
David Salisbury has carefully selected the best timber for each application within our product range. Our
frames, sashes and roof timbers are manufactured from Engineered Siberian Larch where a solid colour finish
is required unless otherwise specified. Engineered Red Grandis and Idigbo are utilised in decorative fascia
and pilaster applications.Where a translucent finish is required, we will manufacture from Idigbo only.Where
requested, we are also able to offer FSC® certified products sourced from responsibly managed forest.
Glazing bead and bonded bar sets are manufactured from Qwood where the product is non-translucent
and does not have any curved beading or bars. Qwood is a composite derived from timber sourced in
sustainably managed forests. For any product requiring a translucent finish or curved beading or bars,
Idigbo will be used.
Selected timber sections are used for a combination of strength, durability, machining flexibility and an
ability to accept a wide range of finishes. These timbers are naturally resistant to wood rot and fungal
attack and the natural oils present in the timber make it resistant to moisture penetration.
