THERESE – LITTLE FLOWER ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH May 29, 2016 Dear Parish Family, Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, commonly known as Corpus Christi. Also, this Sunday Fr. Patrick Cooney, OSB, who lives here at Little Flower and serves as Defender of the Bond at the Metropolitan Tribunal, will celebrate his 25th anniversary of ordination at St. Meinrad Archabbey. Congratulations to Fr. Patrick! Monday is Memorial Day. Memorial Day is a day to remember those who gave their lives for our country. Mass will be at 9:00 a.m. There will be no 5:30 p.m. Communion Service. Also, the parish office and the school will be closed on Monday. Tuesday is Little Flower School’s 8th grade graduation. The graduation Mass will begin at 6 p.m. Scholarships and awards will be presented after Mass. All are invited to the Mass and award ceremony. We will celebrate a closing all-school Mass at 8:30 a.m. All are invited. At this Mass, we will give thanks for all the blessings of this school year and pray for the safety of our Little Flower School community during summer vacation. SUMMERFEST 2016 is this coming weekend, Friday-Sunday, June 3-5. Please check out all the bulletin announcements concerning SUMMERFEST 2016, which is our largest fund raiser each year. Its success depends upon your support. Please remember the proceeds this year will be applied to resurfacing one-half of the parking lot and replacing two flat roofs and two HVAC units on the church roof. First, please sell as many raffle tickets as possible. Memorial Day gatherings are a good time to sell raffle tickets. Second, please attend the festival with your family, and participate in the activities of the festival. Third, please invite and encourage everyone you know to attend and participate in the festival. This includes your children, grandchildren, parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, neighbors, friends, co-workers. Again, Memorial Day gatherings are a good time to encourage attendance and participation in SUMMERFEST 2016. Fourth, please pray for good weather for SUMMERFEST 2016. Finally, thank you for all your support for SUMMERFEST 2016. This includes Tom Costello, the Festival Committee, all volunteers, all who sell or purchase raffle tickets, and all who attend the festival or encourage others to attend. June Taizé to focus on Meals Persons of all faith traditions are invited to join the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-theWoods, Indiana, and the greater faith community of the Wabash Valley for an ecumenical Taizé Prayer gathering from 7-8 p.m., Tuesday, June 14, in the Church of the Immaculate Conception at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, located 10 minutes northwest of downtown Terre Haute. The 2016 theme is “Finding God in the Ordinary.” Each month will have a specific focus. For June, it will be meals. Extras are available at all the church doors. The raffle has potential to bring money in from outside the parish and that is always very helpful. Because the raffle is so important to our success we are going to provide weekly updates on where we stand. We hope you will help us meet our goal! WE HAVE A LONG WAY TO GO! Perhaps you could try to sell an extra book or two this week. Last year raffle sales totaled $22,629.00. Our goal this year is to sell as many tickets as we did in 2012 – so our goal is $25,600.00 in ticket sales. This includes all tickets sold prior to and during the festival. However, we are looking for some strong, able-bodied volunteers to work a couple of hours at 5:00 or 5:30 am on Friday June 3. Do you sometimes go for an early morning run or trip to the gym? Come help us set up for the rummage sale and use that as your work out!! – Please consider helping! Summerfest T Shirt! – Shirts ordered in advance will be available for pick up after masses this weekend. A limited selection of shirts will be available for sale at the festival for $10.00 each. Presale tickets for festival rides will be available in church after weekend Masses this weekend. Please plan to purchase tickets in advance, as they are less expensive for you and the percentage of profit for the parish is greater on on advance sale tickets! You may also purchase advance sale tickets in the parish office this week from 9 a.m.. until 3 p.m., Monday thru Friday. Donations are being accepted for the “Little Flowers” plant booth. They are looking for any kinds of potted plants or starts, soil, pots, etc., and would appreciate them being marked with what they are and any care notes. You may drop your donations outside the parish center on June 1st or 2nd or call Katie Baecher at 504-7937 for pick up. Pick up will take place shortly before the festival. Desserts needed! We are again asking parishioners to provide desserts to be used during the festival. This year, we will only need desserts for Saturday evening. Please drop of your desserts in the school cafeteria anytime on Friday morning, June 3rd , and continuing through Saturday. We will NOT need desserts for Friday or Sunday. Thank you. SET UP - We need help with final set up on Thursday, June 2nd at 6 p.m. High school and college students on break are especially welcome! ATTENTION ALL STRAWBERRY HULLERS! We need help hulling fresh strawberries for the festival. Please come to the school cafeteria on Friday morning, June 3 at 9:30 a.m. We have lots of strawberries and need your help. Bring a paring knife! 2ND ANNUAL FESTIVAL BINGO!! We will have BINGO in the school cafeteria on Friday evening only. Registration begins at 6:00 p.m. and games begin at 7:00 p.m. $1,000 in cash prizes! Spread the word! ATTENTION ALL SUMMERFEST VOLUNTEERS – Last year we learned that no one (patrons or workers) is allowed to bring alcohol onto the festival grounds. Our license stipulates that only beer and wine sold by us is permitted. Thanks for your cooperation. We are fortunate this year to have a beautiful piece of stained glass donated to us titled "The American Eagle" valued at over $500.00. Tickets are just $1.00 each, 6 for $5.00, 13 for $10.00, 28 for $20.00, 35 for $25.00, and 75 for $50.00.
