The shiny finish is a result of calendaring, which is essentially rolling a huge hot roller over the fabric.
Sateen isn't the only fabric that undergoes that part of the process, but all sateen’s do. In the wrinkle
free (T-600) fabrics, this finish is very durable, thanks to the micro-silicon treatment they also undergo.
In other sateen’s, this luster tends to fade after a few washings.
The silky, sumptuous hand of these 600-thread count 100% cotton sateen is as luxurious as it is
practical. The easy care, wrinkle-free finish makes these sheets one-of-a-kind.
Some fabrics have a higher finish than others, one would probably find that even some sateen’s will be
acceptable.
100% Cotton and Sateens, on the other hand, are more difficult to maintain. They should be washed in
cold water, and line or tumble dried. They do tend to wrinkle, and can be expected to shrink 1-2% the
first time they are washed. This shrinkage is taken into account when the sheets are manufactured. For
this reason, they may fit loosely before laundering, and provide a snug fit afterwards.
