Project
Lifesaver
AUTISM TRACKING DEVICES
Project Lifesaver International is a 501 (C)(3) non-profit organization that bridges the
technological gap for "at risk" populations and public safety agencies. They provide police,
fire/rescue and other first responders with a comprehensive program including equipment and
training to quickly locate and rescue "at risk" individuals with cognitive disorders who are at
constant risk to the life threatening behavior of wandering including those with Alzheimer's
disease, Autism, and Down syndrome.
Sacramento area police and sheriff departments participating in Project Lifesaver include:
Citrus Heights Police Department; Elk Grove Police Department; Roseville Police
Department and Amador County Sheriff’s Office.
Elk Grove Police Department Project Lifesaver Coordinator Jose de Jesus Herrera, Jr.
reports that Project Lifesaver provides qualified individuals with a transmitter that can be
worn either on the wrist or ankle. Should an individual go wandering or missing, EGPD uses
the locating devices to assist in finding the individual—often within 30 minutes. The service
is free to Elk Grove residents. For more information, Email [email protected]

FEAT’s JUNE 18 Family
Resource Meeting offers new
This presentation will explore:
 Who should provide the Assistive
and seasoned FEAT parents the opportunity to learn about how children with
Autism may participate more fully in all
aspects of life using Assistive Technology.
Presenter Nettie T. Fishers says, “Whether
your child is in preschool, middle school,
high school or has transitioned out of the
K-12 system, Assistive Technology options
can support education and quality of
life. The efficiency of Assistive Technology is influenced by the information provided prior to the start of the assessment
process.”
Technology assessment?
 Once the assessment is completed, what next?
 Should assistive technology
services include follow-up after
the initial assessment process?
 Does more always mean better
when determining the times and
duration of AT services?
 If something works for one person
with Autism, does it mean it works
for every person with ASD?
 Is AAC (Augmentative and
Alternative Communication)
Assistive Technology?
 Apps are all the rage, “Schazaam
How do I know what to buy?”
 OPEN Question/Answer Segment
to address your concerns.
Light Refreshments will be served.
