Aaron Vermillion, the CSFL Special Teams Player of the Week, pulled the Rangers to a 6-0 lead with field goals of 32 and 44 yards. Rod Gray scored on a three-yard run and Thez Robinson broke loose for 45-yards to cap the scoring for Northwestern. Individually, Robinson led the way with 105 yards on 13 rushes. Receiver Zach Edwards picked up 59 yards on seven catches. The Rangers finished with 221 yards of total offense including 144 rushing yards. Northwestern held SNU to 137 total yards. B.J. Hodshire led the team in tackles with seven, while Chris Lovejoy was named the conference Defensive Player of the Week with four tackles, two tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and a pass break up. Scouting the Lions The Lions are currently 1-1 after a season opening win over Texas College, whom Langston was declared CSFL co-champions with in 2005. Langston evened out its record with a 34-26 loss to NCAA II Midwestern State. Last week the Lions were ahead 28-7 over Prairie View A&M, when the game was called due to weather conditions with four minutes left in the third quarter. An official decision has yet to be made on the outcome of the game. Langston averages 478 yards per game and is riding behind the strong arm of senior quarterback Kendrick Dozier, who was the 2005 CSFL Player of the Year. All five of the Lions touchdowns have been in the air. Dozier has thrown for 549 yards, completing 41-of-69 attempts. Jimmy Early has been the main target, catching 18 passes for 291 yards and three scores. Series Record Northwestern has won nine of the last 10 meetings and 15 of the last 19 games in the 44 game in-state rival. Langston downed Northwestern in 10 of the first 11 games, with the series beginning in 1958. The Rangers have outscored the Lions 1052-894. 2005 2004 2003 2002 2001 2000 1999 1998 1997 1996 1995 LU 35, NW 33 NW 33, LU 13 NW 53, LU 9 NW 35, LU 14 NW 54, LU 15 NW 57, LU 7 NW 63, LU 14 NW 44, LU 6 NW 35, LU 14 NW 23, LU 22 LU 37, NW 17 1994 1993 1992 1991 1990 1989 1988 1987 1986 1985 1984 LU 45, NW 0 LU 34, NW 31 NW 28, LU 6 NW 23, LU 6 NW 35, LU 14 NW 28, LU 19 NW 20, LU 12 NW 41, LU 7 LU 24, NW 14 NW 28, LU 21 LU 24, NW 17 Rankings and Predictions 1983 1982 1981 1980 1975 1974 1973 1972 1971 1970 1969 LU 20, NW 14 NW 17, LU 13 NW 21, LU 6 NW 17, LU 6 LU 31, NW 10 NW 9, LU 3 LU 67, NW 0 LU 50, NW 0 NW 51, LU 28 NW 32, LU 13 NW 26, LU 6 1968 1967 1966 1965 1964 1963 1962 1961 1960 1959 1958 LU 19, NW 13 LU 26, NW 6 LU 21, NW 10 LU 38, NW 20 LU 14, NW 7 NW 27, LU 0 LU 7, NW 6 LU 27, NW 7 LU 27, NW 14 LU 31, NW 13 LU 43, NW 20 Northwestern moved up several spots this week in the NAIA National Poll, moving up from a tie for 35th, to 26th.
