The supervisors make decisions on rezoning requests and other land-use matters, pass ordinances, formulate policies and approve the county’s budget and taxes. The Town of Ashland is governed by a Town Council composed of five members elected to make such rules as are necessary for the orderly conduct of the town’s business and for the administration of the town government. Members serve for four years and terms are staggered with elections held every two years. Council elects a mayor and vice mayor for two-year terms.
