The Jewels of the Alcantara Valley and
Taormina beautiful Island
A CTA extraordinary Sicily itinerary, which brings together nature sea
history and unique charm of Taormina in 4 extraordinary steps:
Alta Valle Alcantara:
The lava mufflers and the twin waterfalls The excursion includes a nature
hike in the beautiful “Alcantara River Park” along the banks of the river
flowing in the lava rock between terraces planted with lemon and orange
walking on the edges of the “potholes” large tanks dug in basaltic rocks
through which the river, until you reach the twin waterfalls, observing

Amenano and Longana
Are two rivers flowing always in Catania city, the “Longana” and will love,

The baths in the Roman Catania

The itinerary: Catania, 249 A.D., from Rome the Emperor Decio was persecuting
the Christians, a dangerous scourge that was jeopardizing a yet precarious
empire..
Even in the city of Catania, under the control of the governor Quinziano,
were held persecutions and martyrdoms against the Christians. They were
bravely trying to resist, using a fake apostasy or hiding in the crypts or in
the caves hidden underground and around the old necropolis that surrounded
the city.
Characteristics of the itinerary: you will follow a path that explores the
underground heart of the city of Catania, a short but intense tour that will
allows you to discover the most important crypts and caves dedicated to the
cult of Christianity.
Saint’Agata, Saint Euplio , Saint Cirino Alfio and Filadelfio, Saint Lucia

The church, founded architecturally and as a place of worship familiar to us
from the Edict of Constantine in 313 d.c. When the Christian religion became,

Le chiese tradizionalmente considerate luogo di culto , in questo
itinerario verranno raccontate come simbolo di cultura nelle società del
tempo .
La chiesa , nasce architettonicamente e come luogo di culto a noi familiare
a partire dell’editto di Costantino nel 313 d.c. , quando la religione
cristiana diviene, dopo secoli di persecuzioni, finalmente una “religio
licita” poi elevata a religione di stato con l’editto di Tessalonica nel 380
emanato da Teodosio I .
Da quel momento in avanti e nei secoli successivi la costruzione di una
chiesa ha risposto non solo ad esigenze di culto ma ha espresso con la sua
architettura , manifattura , negli arredi , nelle disposizioni interne una
straordinaria testimonianza della società e della cultura che la ha
“prodotta” in una alternanza di soluzioni architettoniche di straordinaria
arditezza come di originalità nelle forme e soluzioni adottate, ciò anche
dettato di volta in volta da esigenze e contingenze legate anche a momenti
storici particolari.

Il percorso concentrato a Catania centro , racconta dell’ambiente e della
storia del tempo a Catania tramite la visita di alcune delle chiese prese
quale filo guida . Nell’itinerario, tutt’altro che scontato, alcune chiese
straordinarie e curiose per struttura architettonica , dislocazione e
tipologia di culto , diverranno pretesto per “raccontare” alcune

Etna Excursion in Bus : Pearls in the

The circular route starts and ends from the historic heart of the city,
Piazza Duomo with its Norman period cathedral built over the ancient Roman
baths. The path you proceed through the many small towns and “Etna” villages

Tour among the thermal baths in the
“Roman” Catania
Romans did not work a lot during the day – not considering the slaves, half
of the year was a holiday and a day of work did not last more than six or
seven hours.
There were a lot of holidays because besides “Dies Festi” – feast days, there
were a lot of “Feriae Publicae”- public celebrations and festivities.
In this way citizens had a lot of spare time and one way they used to spend
it was going to the thermal baths: a place of social entertainment open to
all the social classes where the urban society used to meet, relax, have fun
and confront.
The II century “Roman” city of Catania was a rich city, full of thermal baths
