Palos Verdes Peninsula
Excursion
Join us as we venture to the Point
Interpretive Center in Rancho Palos
Verdes on Sunday, March 3, at 10
a.m. The Interpretive Center is located
on an ocean bluff with such fabulous
views of the Pacific Ocean that it is
used as a center to count the
migration of whales each year. The
museum inside offers a look at the
geology and history of Palos Verdes,
artifacts from early settlers,
information on whale migration and
even a section on the old Marineland.
Outside, one can wander the 28-acre
park through native plantings and
coastal walkways or sit in the
amphitheater and perhaps catch a
sight of a migration whale. Afterwards,
we will head to the South Coast
Botanic Gardens to see more than
150 plants and species from around
the globe, including southern Africa
and Australia. The cost to enter the
Botanic Gardens is $8 for adults and
$6 for seniors. A $5 transportation fee
is due at sign-up.

Los Angeles County Museum
of Art
With 100,000 objects dating from
ancient times to the present, the Los
Angeles County Museum of Art
(LACMA) is the largest art museum in
the western United States. It’s a
museum of international stature as
well as a vital part of Southern
California.
LACMA’s collections encompass
the geographic world and virtually the
entire history of art. Among the
museum’s special strengths are its
holdings of Asian art, housed in part in
the Bruce Goff-designed Pavilion for
Japanese Art; Latin American art,
ranging from pre-Columbian
masterpieces to works by leading
modern and contemporary artists, and
Islamic art, of which LACMA hosts
one of the most significant collections
in the world. We will depart for
LACMA on Tuesday, Feb. 12, at
9:30 a.m. A $5 transportation fee is
due at sign-up.
