March 19, 2016
As we are off to the races at the Kentucky Derby this evening, I extend
my deepest thanks for your support and participation in CHEER! 2016.
May you enjoy an evening of friendship, fun, good food, and
entertainment.
All the funds generated this evening will support the installation of a
fully accessible elevator. We are thrilled with the possibility of
complementing our 1920s elevator with an elevator easily operated
by all. Our historic elevator has certainly served us well for many
years, and will continue to do so, but it is challenging for some riders
to operate with its heavy, manual gate. Installing an ADA-accessible
elevator will allow our school to better serve students and guests who
have physical challenges.
Plans are underway to begin the construction of an elevator shaft in
June, once school is finished for the year. If all goes as scheduled, the
shaft will be completed by the fall and the elevator car installed by
early spring 2016. You are invited to take a ride on the new elevator
at this time next year!
Tonight, we also celebrate our Top Cats for 2016, Brian and Caryn
Geraghty Jorgensen ’89, for their unwavering service, leadership,
and long-term commitment to the mission of Holy Names Academy —
in so many ways. In addition, we thank our generous sponsors and
the many dedicated individuals who donated, procured, chaired
committees, and volunteered countless hours to make this event a
success.
Sincerely,
Liz Swift ’71
Head of School and Principal

GOING UP!
A NEW, ADA-ACCESSIBLE
ELEVATOR
HNA’s historic elevator, one of the
oldest operating elevators in
Washington state, has vintage charm
and has served our purpose for
decades. To better accommodate
our community of students, parents,
grandparents, alumnae, and visitors,
we need to increase capacity and
accessibility. With your help, we will
construct a new, larger, ADAaccessible elevator car and shaft as
part of the Commons and Fitness
Building Project.
To complement the existing, nearly
100-year-old elevator, we raise our paddles tonight to
support the construction and installation of a new
elevator. We break ground this summer, so BID EARLY, BID
OFTEN!
After Item 23 in tonight’s Live Auction, please raise your bid
card high at one of the following levels to support this
important project:

•
$2,500

Auction Rules
1. Upon entry, each guest will be given a bid card. To bid in the
silent auction, simply write your bid number on the silentauction bid form. To bid in the live auction, hold your bid card
up high with the number toward the auctioneer.
2. A bid acknowledged by the auctioneer in the live auction is a
legal contract to purchase the item. In the silent auction, if the
bid you have written is designated by the silent-auction
official as the top bid, it is a legal contract to purchase that
silent-auction item.
3. The auctioneer reserves the right to reject any bid that is
merely a fractional advance over the prior bid.
4. Auction items will be awarded to one purchaser only, even if
the item was purchased by a group of people.
5. CHEER! 2016 reserves the right, without notice, to add or
withdraw auction items.
6. All purchases are final, and there will be no exchanges or
refunds on items unless otherwise noted.
7. Winning bidders must pay for their items at the CHEER! 2016
Bank. Payment in full is mandatory at the auction.
8. HNA will gladly accept payment by cash, personal check, Visa,
MasterCard, or Discover. Please make checks payable to Holy
Names Academy. We are a 50l(c)(3) charitable organization,
and auction payments are tax-deductible as a charitable
contribution only to the extent provided by law.
9. The purchaser assumes the responsibility for locating and
removing purchases from the auction premises. Purchasers
must claim from the cashier the certificates/gift cards for
services and tangible items not displayed. Guests will be asked
to show their “paid” receipt for tangible items at the door
when they depart.
10. All items not removed from the auction premises this evening
must be claimed at HNA during school hours.
11. Purchasers’ claims for all goods and services must be mutually
arranged with the donor unless otherwise noted. Goods and

services must be claimed and used within one year of the
auction date unless otherwise specified; please check all
certificates for expiration date. It is the purchaser’s
responsibility to contact the donor regarding purchased items
or events.
Reservations for trips and vacation accommodations must be
mutually arranged with the donor unless otherwise noted. No
refunds will be allowed on travel packages for canceled tickets
and/or accommodations.
Travel will be provided by donors as described, even if the
prices increase above those stated. Because travel charges
change, travel costs may decrease the values stated, but no
refunds will be allowed.
All vacation homes, condos, cabins, etc., may require a
refundable damage/security deposit; please check with donor
contact person.
Restaurant certificates/gift cards do not include alcohol, tax, or
gratuity unless so specified.
Gift certificates/cards may not be redeemed for cash unless
otherwise stated.
CHEER! 2016 has attempted to describe and catalog all items
correctly, but all items are offered “as is, where is.” CHEER!
2016/Holy Names Academy neither warrants nor represents,
and in no event shall be responsible for, the correctness of
descriptions, genuineness, authorship, provenance, or
condition of the items. No statement made in this catalog or
made orally at the auction or elsewhere shall be deemed such
a warranty, representation, or assumption of liability. The
values listed are estimates only and are not warranted for tax
purposes or fair market value. Items have not been appraised
unless so noted.
Each person issued a bid number (bidder) assumes all risks and
hazards related to the auction and items obtained at the
auction. Each bidder agrees to hold Holy Names Academy
harmless from any liability arising from its elected and
appointed officials, members and employees, the auctioneer,
the auction company and its agents and employees, the event

There is no better baseball experience than watching a game
from Diamond Club seats at Safeco Field!! You are practically
on the field with the players… the food—including the pregame buffet and order-from-your-seat service—is superb…
beverages are at your beck and call… parking is included and
so close you won’t have to expend any energy getting to the
game, so you’ll be able to cheer like mad once you get
there… and, perhaps, best of all, you’ll be adored forever by
the three people you bring along! Any questions?
Four tickets to a Mariners Game during the 2016 regular season. Not
valid for Opening Day, Playoff games, or games against the Yankees or
Red Sox. Please arrange ASAP for best selection.
Value: $1,200
