The
Dear French Woodite,
As you read this Performer, Barbara and
I have just returned from camp. There’s a lot of
interesting stuff going on!
Say goodbye to boys senior lodge 3&4.
The boys campus has been rearranged to absorb the
building that had been girls 1 is now boys 7. The
girls in girls one have a brand new lodge with it’s
own play room. Wait until you see it. It’s incredible!
The new multi-task recording studio has
been equipped. Not only do we have a space for
orchestral performances, but now each of our
shows can be recorded in concert as well as large
musical groups.
Registration is just unreal. Please note the
following: We are now almost 70% filled. In the
next newsletter we will be forced to announce the
closing of many
sessions by age.
Give us a call or
return your registration before you
are closed out.
We would love to
have you join us
in 2006!
Fondly,
Ron &
Barbara

Hi everyone! As of November 1, 2005 there are only 221 days left until Session 1. Whomever I speak with can hardly wait. So
many of you, had such a wonderful summer.
I’m back to coaching Joey’s travel basketball team. We are using the fall league to prepare us for the winter and spring leagues.
When the season ends, shortly before camp starts, we will have played 50 to 60 games. Hopefully we will win a few. I was also offered a
job coaching at the Coral Springs Charter School in Coral Springs. It’s going to be a busy year for me. By the way, I carry, 14 players on my
Travel team, at least 10 are joining us at French Woods this coming summer.
I spent some time in Charlottesville, Virginia, where my son Josh is doing an orthopedic fellowship and is now working with the U.
of Virginia football team which recently beat #4 Florida. I’ve enjoyed the time I spent with my grandchildren Teddy, 3, and Lilly, 1. I can’t
wait for them to become French Woods campers. My daughter-in-law, Lynn, is due again with child number three, sometime in February. I
don’t know how she does it, caring for the family while working full time. My daughter Jen, is six months away from applying for a Assistant
Principal’s job in NYC.
Kathy, the kids, and I have had a busy post camp so far. We all went to Tucker Caploe’s Bar Mitzvah. What a great party that was.
The circles the Caploe’s run in are the most fun ever. At the end of the evening, Tucker’s mom had Paul Schaefer playing for her and other
professionals and singing up a storm to Ellie Greenwich’s doo wop numbers. Even Tucker got to sing with Paul’s accompaniment. Godfrey
Cambridge introduced the acts. It was an impromptu pleasure.
I spent a good part of the night with Mr. Pager and Mr. Weinstein, Dylan’s dad and Alexandra’s dad, respectively, we were keeping
track of the Yankee score and talking golden oldies music. Kathy and Mrs. Weinstein and Mrs. Pager were very understanding. I also had a
chance to spend some time with the Seltzer’s who, not only have the nicest kids (Joel and Julian) but are also wonderful French Woods parents.
The list of parents and children at this gala goes on and on. There was Max Federman at Schul. There was Sophie Lavine, Emma Smelkinson,
Graham Martin, Adam Ziering, Hali Garber, Remy Geller, Joleen Spivack, and of course, Brittany Champey, Joey Champey, and Erin Champey.
We even spent some time with Max and Ben Zander and their parents, who stopped by late, after attending a previous affair in the City. It was
great to see everybody but I’m sure I left out some people as well. Brittany got to crash at Danielle Shechtman’s house while she was in town
for Tucker’s affair. Magic Al Garber, Hali’s dad, who’s an incredible magician in his own right, sent a close-up magician to entertain the kids
and adults at Tucker’s. The guy was great and kept the kids and the parents, interested and busy.
For those of you who had the pleasure of meeting my Golden Retriever, Brandy, she asked me to say hi to all of the children who
came to use my phone and played with her. She misses you and is looking forward to seeing you all again next summer. Brandy recently had
some laser eye surgery, but she is doing great. She won’t need glasses or contacts now.
Venus our nurse spent the night with us last month. That is to say Venus, Ray, her husband, and Josh and Ryan, spent the weekend at
the end of September. Last week they surprised us and brought Nick and Tim Duggan, to our home to visit with the kids. Our tennis program
was a big success, thanks to the efforts of Nick and his staff.
Kathy and Brittany are again flying off to New York to attend the Bat Mitzvah of Randi Olan next week. Again, another big French
Woods reunion.
Kathy and I will be in Boston, at the Newton Marriott for a camp fair the weekend of November 4-6. The
fair is on Sunday the 6th. If you’re interested in visiting with us, give us a call and stop by. We would love to see our
Mass. friends.
Ron has built our first ever junior lodge for the youngest girls set to open this coming summer. I’m really
excited about these new living quarters; three huge bathrooms and a play area between the three groups to be living in
the lodge.

Beth Backstage
As you can see we have put together a tentative show schedule for the summer of 2006. We are planning
some very exciting new shows and, as always, we will have several making their French Woods debut this summer. We have been in contact with many of you and have taken several of your suggestions into account. I think
that the show selection is particularly good this year. It should be a great summer in 2006!
We have started sending out returning counselor invitations for the 2006 season and it
looks as though we will have quite the fabulous staff. There will be many returning staff members and we have started the drive to recruit new staff from all over the country and, as always,
all over the world. Things are busy in the French Woods office these days!
I hope school is going well & I look forward to seeing you all next summer!
Sincerely,
Beth
