Happy Fall Everyone!!!
As the leaves begin to change and the air gets a little cooler, we truly get to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of
living in a beach town. We are coming off of a fantastic Bikefest and Sunfest, so guests are really appreciating
what Ocean City has to offer in the second season. Thank you to all of our volunteers who helped make OC
Bikefest and the Chambers Jack Daniels booth sales a tremendous success!
After a bustling September, we are excited to host a number of October events such as Endless Summer Cruisin’
October 8-11th, the first Annual Shore Craft Beer Fest at Sunset Park on October 24 th, and OCtoberfest the last 2
weekends in October, full of pet parades, the great pumpkin race and the famous Halloween beach maze. There is
also the very popular Halloween Spook Out party at Northside Park on October 25 th. Decorate your car and parade it down the Boardwalk at 27th St. where prizes will be awarded for the Drive in Disguise on October 24 th! OC
is full of fun fall family activities! And we cannot forget Fall OC Restaurant week from October 11 th to the 25th
- there are price-fixed menus at a number of our area establishments offering a fantastic opportunity to go out and try something

Annual Crab Feast at Blu Crabhouse and Raw Bar Thursday October 8 th from 5-8pm- this is a sellout event and only a handful of
tickets left so be sure to call today!
I also encourage you to get either yourself or any staff that may be interested, involved in the Young Professionals of Ocean Citythis is an active group of highly motivated individuals. The Young Professionals Committee of Ocean City, MD brings together the
talents and insights of emerging young professionals (YPs), in a dynamic and diverse group of peers with a passion for making a
difference, a willingness to learn, the desire to build important relationships, and the energy to get involved in the community. To

Sprout Creatives acquires At The Beach Enterprises Inc. / ATB Internet Group
Sprout Creatives, a boutique web development company specializing in websites, graphic design, and Internet marketing, is pleased to announce the recent acquisition of At The Beach Enterprises Inc. / ATB Internet Group.
At The Beach Enterprises Inc. / ATB Internet Group has been providing web design, hosting, and marketing services to
the greater Ocean City, Maryland and Coastal Delaware regions since 1996. Sprout Creatives began developing clean,
user-friendly websites in 2007. The web professionals of Sprout Creatives and ATB will join forces and focus on making
advertising with At The Beach more valuable, and develop new online directory websites.
A new and improved At The Beach website will be launched with a fresh new look and modern responsive design. It

PIONEER IN THE PROFESSION
Only 224 PAs Have Retained Certification for 40 Years
Steve Wilson, PA-C, is one of only 224 certified physician assistants (PA-Cs) in the country to be certified for 40
years by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
Wilson was among the first PAs to be nationally certified by NCCPA in 1975. He maintained
certification by meeting continuing medical education (CME) requirements every two years
and passing rigorous recertification exams every six years.
Wilson has been employed with Peninsula Regional Medical Center for 12 years.
“As a certified PA who has made a commitment to maintaining certification and professional standards, I am
most proud of providing quality patient care in and out of the surgical suite, continuing to acquire knowledge and
skills necessary to address health care needs, and working with a team of health care providers just as committed to patient care,” says Wilson.

Worcester County Recognizes Volunteers
Thurs. November 5 - OC Brewing
The Worcester County Commissioners and Volunteer Services
Manager Kelly Brinkley recognized 7 individuals and 4 groups
during the annual Volunteer Spirit of Worcester County Awards
dinner ceremony at the Atlantic Hotel in Berlin. Volunteers
were nominated by their peers in one of 4 star categories:
youth, individual, faith-based and nonprofit volunteer program.

“These volunteers represent the countless hundreds of stars in
our community stepping forward to assure that vital community services & programs remain available to meet the needs of
area residents & visitors,” Brinkley said. “It’s a huge honor to
be able to shine the spotlight on them, even if it’s just for a moment to say thanks, we appreciate the way you turn love into
action to care for the community’s needs.”
Wade Wilkins of Stephen Decatur High School was recognized
in the Youth category with the Volunteer Spirit Award for his
work with the 38th annual Children’s Theater program at SDHS
where he was instrumental in stage setup, set creation &
performing.

Those in the Individual category include Pat Westcott of Coastal Hospice who received the Volunteer Spirit
Award for her 23 years as a patient care volunteer. Those recognized as Stars include Sandy McAbee and Paul
Mazzei of Star Charities, Beverly Thomas for the Friends of the Worcester County Commission for Women, Stacy
Paulson of Assateague Coastal Trust, and Joan Jenkins of the Rackcliffe House Trust.
In the Faith-Based category, the Shepherd’s Crook at St. Paul’s by-the-Sea in Ocean City received the Volunteer
Spirit Award for their work in providing food, clothing and a welcome break for all those who enter. Those recognized as Stars include the volunteers in the Backpack Program at Atlantic United Methodist Church in Ocean City
who ensure children in need receive a backpack full of nutritious food to feed them during the weekends when
they are not at school.
In the Nonprofit Volunteer Program category, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) through the Worcester
Youth & Family Counseling Services in Berlin received the Volunteer Spirit Award for acting as a voice for children
in need in the courtroom and all other areas in life until each child finds a permanent home. Land Stewardship
Volunteers with the Lower Shore Land Trust were recognized as stars for nurturing relationships between the
community and landowners that lead to the preservation and protection of sensitive tracts of land for future
generations.
Volunteers make Worcester County a better place to live, work and visit. To honor those whose contributions
assure the continuation of vital services, Worcester County residents were recently invited to nominate individuals and community organizations for the 2015 Volunteer Spirit of Worcester County.

Household Hazardous Waste & E-Cycling Collection Day
October 10
The Recycling Division of Worcester County Public Works, in conjunction with Maryland Environmental Services and the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE), will conduct Household Hazardous
Waste and E-Cycling (electronics recycling) Collection Day on Saturday, October 10, 2015, from 10 a.m. – 2
p.m. at the Showell Elementary School parking lot.
Gather up those old or unusable cans of pesticides, pool chemicals, gas and other fuels, oil-base paints,
thinners and everyday hazardous wastes accumulating in and around the home and bring them to the recycling
center for safe disposal. Electronic items, such as computers, monitors, keyboards, printers, radios, televisions
and VCR’s, will be collected and later recycled.
This event is open to Worcester County residents only. A representative from Maryland Environmental
Services will be on-site checking vehicle registration. Clean Ventures of Baltimore will be responsible for the
safe disposal of all hazardous waste collected. The electronics will be shipped to an electronics recycler for dismantling. For more information, contact Worcester County Recycling Manager Ron Taylor at (410) 632-3177.

6th Annual Ocean Pines Health Fair, 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Open to the general public this event is jointly sponsored by Ocean Pines Association, Atlantic General Hospital and
Peninsula Regional Medical Center. There will be many health screenings offered including Lab screening for cholesterol and glucose (requires a 12-hour fast). Atlantic General Hospital, Conference Room Alcoholics Anonymous® is a fellowship of men and women who share
their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to
recover from alcoholism. This group is open to the community and to AGH patients. For more information call Rob at

Overeaters Anonymous 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM

Our group is a 12 step program, adapted from Alcoholics Anonymous. We help anyone struggling with a compulsive
eating problem, whether it is weight gain, bulimia, anorexia, or if you are a parent of a child with one of these problems. We will be meeting each Sunday in Conference Room 1 at Atlantic General Hospital. There is no initial meeting
charge. Meeting contribution is $1.00 weekly. If you have any questions, contact Bett at 410-202-9078.
