Page 17 East Kentucky Science Center School Admission Rates Oasis in Space Be transported on a startling and beautiful voyage through our universe, galaxy, and solar system in search of liquid water, a key ingredient for life on Earth. Center Programs Planetarium Show -- Laser Light Show -- Exhibit -- Classroom Maximum of 85 students & adults in planetarium Our Place in Space Instead of just listening to someone talk about the Earth and the Sun, students will be asked to help solve a crossword puzzle about the sky. Some clues are easier than others. Starting with ideas as basic as the difference between a star and a planet, one clue builds on another. The answers lead to an exploration of the relationship between the Earth and Sun, how apparent size changes with distance, the rotation of the Earth and the effects of gravity (or lack thereof), and the cause of day and night. The Cowboy Astronomer A skillfully woven tapestry of star tales and Native American legends, combined with constellation identification, starhopping, and astronomy tidbits — all told from the unique viewpoint of a cowboy astronomer who has traveled the world plying his trade and learning the sky along the way. Narrated by nationally acclaimed Cowboy humorist, Baxter Black. Page 6 Enchanted Reef One of the most precious of Earths’ oceans is “Kaluoka’hina,” the enchanted reef, whose magic protects it against humans finding it. Kaluoka’hina’s colorful inhabitants have thus always lived in peace...until the volcano erupts, and the spell is broken. Now it’s up to the young sawfish Jake and his paranoid pal Shorty to restore the magic of the reef. Their only lead: the ancient legend that tells of touching the moon. But how? This is just one of the intriguing puzzles that Jake and Shorty have to solve on their most exciting adventure ever: the quest to save their beloved reef.
