MEMBERSHIP GUIDE
THANK YOU FROM MARK HARLAN
At USF Athletics our goals are simple, yet
profound. Simply stated we will win:
1. In the classroom
2. In competition
3. In the community
Each and every day, we will hold ourselves
accountable to these three elements by
a relentless work ethic unmatched in
intercollegiate athletics. In spring 2015,
our student-athletes posted a department
wide spring GPA of 3.0 and a graduation
rate of 83 percent. We saw multiple teams
advance to NCAA post season play and
won the American Athletic Conference Learfield Cup for overall athletic performance of the year. We immersed ourselves
in the greater Tampa community serving hundreds of people in organizations throughout the Bay area.
We are only getting started. In 2016-2017, we will demand more of ourselves to reach greater heights. However; we need
your support to get there. Your donations allow us to compete in premier facilities, retain outstanding coaches and create
a culture of champions.
Thank you for your unwavering support in the past and your consideration of continued investment of our studentathletes and teams going forward. As a Bulls Club member, you are truly the team behind team, helping to better the lives
of our students and enriching this community.
Go Bulls!
Mark Harlan, Director of Athletics

WHAT IS THE BULLS CLUB?
THE BULLS CLUB is
charged with raising the
TM
private investment needed
to establish USF Athletics as
an emerging power on the
national athletics stage. The alumni and friends who comprise the Bulls
Club family advance our mission of positioning every team and every
student-athlete to compete for championships, to excel in the classroom,
to represent USF with honor, and to leave USF well-prepared for success
after the final whistle.
Annual gifts to the Bulls Club directly impact the student-athlete
experience at USF, including tuition, books, competition, travel and
educational support services. As a Bulls Club member, you will receive
the satisfaction of supporting the personal and professional development
of our student-athletes. Special insight into USF Athletics and exclusive
donor-only events will provide a glimpse of how influential your gift is to
our athletic programs.
Members receive priority points based on giving, loyalty to the Bulls Club,
and season ticket purchases. These points are not only used to provide a
ranking of the Bulls Club family but also help determine seating locations
for various athletic events throughout the season, including road and
championship contests, as well as access to other member benefits such
as parking at these functions.

Football // Sophomore // Tampa, FL // Business
WHAT IS YOUR DREAM JOB?
Manage my own law firm. As a kid, I have either wanted to be a doctor or a
lawyer. I now know I can make an impact with those who need help by having a
career in civil law.
Softball // Sophomore // Guilford, CT // Criminology
NAME ONE OF YOUR ROLE MODELS AND
BRIEFLY DESCRIBE THEIR INFLUENCE ON YOU.
My parents. I would get in trouble by picking one. They both have always been
there for me and pushed me athletically and academically.
WHAT IS SOMETHING THAT NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT YOU?
I am an avid reader. I regularly go to Barnes & Noble to pick up books for
leisurely reading.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SOFTBALL MEMORY?
In 2009, my travel softball team won Pony Nationals. In 2015, I was also a
part of the USA Junior National Team which won the gold medal.
WHAT DO YOU WANT YOUR LEGACY TO BE AT USF?
I don’t just want to be known on the football field. I would love to
be known throughout the community for helping out and being
active. And also always being happy!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CLASS
YOU’VE TAKEN AT USF?
Sociology of Social Problems because it showed me perspective is
everything, and it made me look at things from different viewpoints.
IF YOUR TEAMMATES DESCRIBED YOU IN ONE
WORD WHAT WOULD IT BE AND WHY?
Team-player. I always try to be there for my teammates and care
about others before I care about myself.
WHAT DO YOU WANT YOUR LEGACY TO BE AT USF?
I want people to know how hard I worked to get where I am.

WHAT IS YOUR DREAM JOB?
I want to work for the FBI. I would love to be a behavioral analyst to
figure out why people do the things they do.
NAME ONE OF YOUR ROLE MODELS AND BRIEFLY
DESCRIBE THEIR INFLUENCE ON YOU.
My mom has always been there for my siblings and me. She’s been
through a lot but has always made us feel loved. I played a lot of sports
growing up, and she took me to all of them!
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE USF?
It’s 20 minutes from home, so my parents can be at all my games and I can
always go back to see them. It’s also what I grew up watching on TV. I
followed USF football to its rise, and I wanted to be a part of it.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY AT USF?
My favorite memory at USF was in 2007 when football was ranked
#2 in the nation! For a whole week, we were the best team in the
state of Florida and it was a proud moment to be a Bull!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE GOLF MEMORY AT USF?
It is hard to pick any one memory from the golf team in the early/mid 80s. What I recall
most favorably were the relationships built and time we spent together playing, practicing
and traveling. It really was like a fraternity and the team was very close to each other.
HOW DID BEING A STUDENT-ATHLETE AT USF
PREPARE YOU FOR LIFE AFTER ATHLETICS?
Being a student-athlete at USF taught me how to master time management skills.
I learned how to adjust and prioritize correctly. I’ve been able to use these
skills in my everyday environment at work and at school.
HOW DID BEING A STUDENT-ATHLETE AT USF
PREPARE YOU FOR LIFE AFTER ATHLETICS?
The combination of a solid academic foundation, the
discipline and competition from the golf team and the
exposure to the Tampa Bay community offered me
a fantastic launching pad for a career after USF.
WHO WAS THE MOST INFLUENTIAL PERSON FOR YOU
DURING YOUR CAREER AT USF?
Lee Roy Selmon. He inspired me to become greater than just a “basketball player”.
He influenced me to ensure that one day I would give back in ways that would motivate
others to be great, just as he did. He was and still is my role model.
WHAT WAS YOUR BIGGEST CHALLENGE TRANSITIONING
AFTER GRADUATION?
It was realizing that playing basketball competitively was really over. The game was who I was for
several years and this was how others identified me. The adjustment was tough, but also a good
time to grow.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO CURRENT USF STUDENT-ATHLETES?
Don’t give up! Stick to your goals, whatever they may be and no matter how hard it may seem to
accomplish… stick to it! Take advantage and prove your greatness!
WHAT DEFINES BEING A STUDENT-ATHLETE AT USF?
Character. Determination. Fight. We are committed and loyal student-athletes that
strive to win for such a great program!

Brian Keenan
1-800-GO-BULLS
WHO WAS THE MOST INFLUENTIAL PERSON
FOR YOU DURING YOUR CAREER AT USF?
Our coach, Bob Shiver. He provided guidance on and off the course and
really helped me gain my independence in a completely new environment
1,000 miles from home.
IS YOUR CURRENT ROLE DIFFERENT THAN WHAT YOU HAD
IMAGINED AS A STUDENT-ATHLETE?
I was a finance major so I imagined that I would be in the banking, insurance or
investment field after graduating school. I have always had confidence in myself and
USF played a role in my career success.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO CURRENT USF STUDENTATHLETES?
It’s critical that you get your degree and start networking with professionals in your area
of interest. Also take advantage of the coaches, facilities, trainers, academic counselors
and staff to position yourself to perform at your personal best.
WHAT DEFINES BEING A STUDENT-ATHLETE AT USF?
A driven student that excels in the classroom and in their sport. You also have an
expectation to be a quality person that represents USF and all that the school stands for.
