Konami Digital Entertainment (Konami), global developer and manufacturer of entertainment properties, has deployed VASCO’s
DIGIPASS one-time password solution to strengthen the authentication level of most of its online services, including its online
gaming site, online community and the online shopping site “Konami Style”.
EXTENDED PRODUCT PORTFOLIO
VASCO has an extended product portfolio with over 50 authenticators in
different form factors, both hardware and software. Customers can choose the
authentication method and solution that best meets their requirements.
“We chose DIGIPASS GO 6 as our standard model whereas we distribute
DIGIPASS 100 to our royal customers”, says Mr. Kenichi Fukuhara. “As a backup we deployed DIGIPASS SDK on mobiles or smart phones for users who do
not wish to use an authentication device. “

BUILDING A SECURE BRAND IMAGE
E-commerce and online gaming in particular are booming lucrative markets.
Fraudsters soon saw big business by intercepting payment transactions or
hacking into gamers’ accounts. With fraud statistics on the rise and taken
the advice from the governmental agency to heart, game developer Konami
realized the need to implement a security solution for its community sites
“e-Amusement Gate” and “Love Plus Photograph”, for its online games “Love
Plus Kanojyo Mail” and “Golf Connection Network Service” and its online
shopping channel “Konami Style”.
Konami Digital Entertainment went looking for a suitable security solution
that would enhance the security of its online channels and decided to deploy
VASCO’s strong authentication solution based on DIGIPASS technology.
DIGIPASS generates one-time passwords that replace the weaker, static
passwords and enhances overall security of Konami’s services and offerings.
Furthermore, DIGIPASS enabled Konami to build a brand image of a secure and
leading company that cares about the confidentiality of its customers’ data.
