Review this guide before you install and launch Postalsoft Business Edition for the first time. 01 Postalsoft Business Edition | US | 02 Installation Guide Preparing To Install Postalsoft Business Edition Exit All Running Applications Before you begin, save all of your open documents and exit all running applications. The final step of the installation process will require you to restart your computer,. Ensure System Readiness Before beginning installation, make sure your computer meets or exceeds the minimum system requirements. System Requirements Table 01. System Requirements Component Minimum Recommended CPU 2 GHz 3GHz - Dual Core RAM 3 GB 4 GB Free Hard Drive Space 10 GB 100 GB or more Disc Drive DVD DVD Operating System Windows XP SP3, Vista, or 7 Internet / network access Highly recommended. You will not be able to download product updates or updated USPS data directories without Internet connectivity. Postalsoft Business Edition | US | Installation Guide 03 Installing Postalsoft Business Edition The following instructions will guide you through the process of installing Postalsoft Business Edition. The installer will first install the USPS data directories, and will then install the Postalsoft Business Edition application. . To Install Postalsoft Business Edition 1. Start the installation wizard. To do this, follow the steps for A or B below, depending on whether you received a DVD or downloaded your software: A. If you received the Postalsoft Business Edition DVD: Insert the Postalsoft Business Edition DVD in your computer’s disc drive. i. If the installer starts automatically, follow the prompts to begin the installation, and proceed from Step 2 below. ii. If the installer does not start automatically, browse to the DVD folder to view the files on the DVD. Double-click the setup.exe file. Follow the prompts to start the installation, and proceed from Step 2 below. B. If you received email instructions to download your software: Download and unzip the software according to the instructions you received via email. Double-click the setup.exe file. Follow the prompts to start the installation, and proceed from Step 2 below. 2. The installer wizard will launch and display the Welcome Screen. Click Next to continue. On the Registration Key screen, enter your Satori registration key, and click Next to continue. Figure 02.The Registration Key screen of the Installation Wizard 4. On the Choose Location screen, the installer gives you the option to choose the location into which you would like to save the .zip files containing the USPS data directories (U.S. address directories). Note: You will reference this location again when you proceed with “Loading USPS Data Directories” on page 14. You may use the default location, or if you wish to choose a location other than the default, you may click Choose and select your preferred location. Click Next to continue. The Ready to Install screen allows you the opportunity to review your installation settings before proceeding. Click Install to begin the installation. Figure 04.The Ready to Install screen of the Installation Wizard 6. While the USPS data directories installer is active, the Setup Status screen will display. This screen will automatically close when complete, and the Postalsoft Business Edition application installer will launch. Click Next to continue. Figure 06.The Welcome screen of the secondary installer Wizard 8. The License Agreement screen will display. Read the terms of the license, and when you are ready, select I accept the terms of the license agreement, and click Next to continue. On the Customer Information screen, enter your name and the name of your company. Figure 08.The Customer Information screen of the Installation Wizard Note: You do not need to enter any information in the S User ID field. Leave this field blank. Click Next to continue. 10. An Auto Update User ID alert window will display. Figure 09.The Auto Update User ID alert window of the Installation Wizard Note: Satori Software will provide the necessary updates for your software. You can disregard this message. Click OK to continue. 07 Postalsoft Business Edition | US | Installation Guide 08 11. The Choose Destination Location screen will display. If you wish to choose a location other than the default, click Browse and select your preferred location. Click Next to continue. If you wish to review your settings before proceeding with the installation, click the Back button. Click Next to continue the installation. While Postalsoft Business Edition is installing, you will see the Setup Status screen. When the application has been installed, this screen will close automatically. Figure 12.The Setup Status screen of the Installation Wizard 14. You may see some additional windows display briefly; these are helper installers. You may disregard these windows and wait for the installer to continue. Your product licenses have already been added for you, so click No to continue with the installation. Figure 14.The License Manager alert window of the Installation Wizard A. If you selected Yes on the License Manager alert window, you will see the License Manager window, which displays your registered keycodes. You do not need to enter any information on this screen; click Close to continue with the installation. When preparation is complete, the next screen will display. Figure 16.The Preparing Setup screen of the Installation Wizard 17. An Information alert screen appears. This screen informs you that the documentation installed with Postalsoft Business Edition is in PDF format, and that you will need a PDF reading application in order to read it. Click Next to continue. Figure 17.The Information alert screen of the Installation Wizard Important: The next screen is the final screen of the Installation Wizard. If you have not already done so, save all of your open documents and exit all running applications. Postalsoft Business Edition | US | Installation Guide 12 18. The final screen of the installer is an alert screen notifying you that your computer will reboot in order to complete the installation. Make sure you’ve saved all open documents and have exit any running installations, and then click Finish to complete the installation. Figure 18.The final screen of the Installation Wizard After your computer has restarted, the installation of Postalsoft Business Edition will be complete. You’ll be able to open Postalsoft Business Edition by selecting either the shortcut that has been saved to your desktop, or by choosing Postalsoft Business Edition from the Start menu. Figure 19.The Postalsoft Business Edition desktop shortcut Figure 20.Access to Postalsoft Business Edition from the Windows Start Menu Postalsoft Business Edition | US | Installation Guide 13 Disabling Software Update Alerts The initial launch of Postalsoft Business Edition may display a Software Update Check alert window, asking whether you would like to check for updates to the product. This Software Update feature does not apply to your installation, as Satori Software will manage software updates. Each time an update is available, you will receive an update notification email from Satori Software with instructions for accessing the necessary update files. Note: Satori Software will provide the necessary updates for your software and will notify you when updates are available. The default Software Update alerts displayed in Postalsoft Business Edition do not apply to your installation. Please disregard these messages and disable the alerts. . To Disable Software Update Alerts 1. When the initial Software Update Check window displays, check the Always perform this action box and click No. This will prevent automatic Software Update checks in future. Figure 21.The Software Update Check window Postalsoft Business Edition | US | Installation Guide Loading USPS Data Directories Before you can begin using Postalsoft Business Edition to manage your mailings, you will need to load the USPS data directories. . To Load USPS Data Directories 1. Open Postalsoft Business Edition. 2. From the File menu, select Load Directories. Figure 22.Select Load Directories from the File menu 3. A Loading Options dialog will open for the first data directory that you’ve downloaded. Click the Browse button, and locate the directory into which you stored the U.S. address directory .zip files The recommended location is C:\Postalsoft\DIRS\. Figure 24.The Loading Options dialog 5. The Select Folder window will display. When you’ve browsed to the correct location, the right pane will display the set of .zip files that you stored while “Installing Postalsoft Business Edition” on page 03 Click OK to continue. You may now select the location into which you wish to load the directories, in the Load directories to field. You may use the default location, or if you wish to choose a location other than the default, you may click Browse and select your preferred location. Click Load to continue. Figure 26.The Loading Options dialog showing the Load Directories location 7. While the directory is loading, the Loading Directory status window will display. When loading of the current directory is complete, the next screen will display. Figure 27.The Loading Directory status window 8. After the first directory has completed loading, the Loading Options dialog will display for the next .zip file. Choose the location into which you wish to load the directories, or accept the default, and click Load to continue. Wait for the Loading Directory status window to complete. Repeat until the Business Edition alert window notifying you that loading of directories is complete displays. Click OK to complete the process of loading directories.
