It is a powerful experience that can strengthen the values that you as parents are teaching daily. Whether it’s through arts & crafts or swimming, through field trips or sports, or through various outdoor / indoor adventure activities, Y summer camp counselors have always allowed kids to be kids while staying safe during the heat of the summer. At the YMCA of Greater Williamson County, we offer a wide array of summer camp options to meet every camper’s needs. All of our summer camps are designed to make summer fun, exciting, convenient and safe, while focusing on the Y’s values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and faith. Since demand is great, Financial Assistance is awarded subject to available resources. Centrally located in Cedar Park near US 183 and IH-45, we are convenient for daily drop-off and pickup on a 55-acre site filled with oak trees, two lakes, fields and outdoor/indoor adventure activity areas that make campers feel like they are 100 miles away from real life. Daily Schedule Camp program hours at YMCA Camp Twin Lakes are from 9am until 4pm. Campers will get the most out of camp by being in their unit and ready for fun between these hours. Extended care is provided at no additional charge between 7am-9am & 4pm-6:30pm. Please note that the sample schedule below is subject to change. Care Units Campers at YMCA Camp Twin Lakes are placed in Units by grade level and then into Trail Groups with an individual counselor in a ratio between 1:6 and 1:15 (depending on age) for maximum fun. Our staff has customized the daily activities and age requirements with safety and progression of skill building in mind to better meet camper needs with age-appropriate activities. Most Add-Ons will occur during the morning activity periods and campers may miss some of the regular camp activities but still receive a full day of camp fun. Add-On activities will be held Monday – Thursday and require pre-registration and an extra fee. See our registration packet for fees and dates of specific activities. Swim Lessons 5 yrs old ($32/NONREFUNDABLE) Swim Lessons 6+ ($32/NONREFUNDABLE) Paintball 1 ($53/3rd-4th Grade) Learn the basics of paintball equipment, safety and game strategies. We begin with target practice and teamwork scenarios before venturing to the playing field with our own age group. Paintball 2 ($53/5th-8th Grade) Compete on our “Boot Hill” course while learning safety, teamwork and game play under the close supervision of our trained instructors. Tango Tower ($53/3rd-8th) An exhilarating add-on that allows campers to fully explore all aspects of the Tango Tower beyond the normal camp high ropes experience. Activities led by certified tower staff for a safe/ fun experience for campers. Push yourself to the tower limit. Project T.O.A.D.S. ($53/5th-8th) Use high-tech computer gear, live-feed cameras, remote-control drones and airsoft markers to plan missions and work together to accomplish goals. Robotics ($53/ 3rd-8th) Learn basic robotics and engineering concepts while working as a team to design, build and program a robot to perform a number of skilled tasks. Gymnastics ($32/ 3rd-8th) Receive quality instruction in tumbling, swinging, balancing, bouncing and cartwheels while also exploring our full array of gymnastics apparatus. Wood Craft ($53/ 3rd-8th) Learn the basics of woodworking through the use of hand tools. Practice carpentry skills to complete and bring home weekly projects. CSI ($32/3rd-8th) Learn the basics of deductive reasoning and investigative techniques, such as finger printing, track casting, blood typing and spray patterns, used by law enforcement personnel use to solve crimes and mysteries. Top Chef ($53/4th-8th) Learn about kitchen safety, proper food handling, measuring, food preparation & baking, balanced meal planning and healthy eating. Jewelry ($53/ 3rd-8th) Create authentic jewelry that is both wearable and trendy while taking away craft skills that can be repeated at home for years to come. Video Production ($32/4th-8th) Discover photo and video journalism while also learning reporting techniques to create online camp blogs and create a video of your week at Camp Twin Lakes. Mad Science ($32/ 3rd-8th) Through fun and exciting science experiments, you will be able to smell and taste what science is really all about. So much fun that you will forget you’re learning. Hunger Games ($32/ 3rd-6th) Learn the skills of the archery, javelin, foils and swords in order to survivor our daily competitions while also obtaining strategy and tracking knowledge. Your camper will experience what it was like for early Texas settlers. Sew Fun! ($32/ 4th-8th) Learn basic sewing skills while designing and making practical projects. You will learn seaming, pattern usage and be educated on parts of a sewing machine. SUPER CAMP Members $233 / Week Non-Members $263 / Week Open to campers entering grades 5th-8th. Designed for kids who have ASD or CI, have difficulty with social or interpersonal interactions and/ or have had a traumatic brain injury AND can participate in the outdoor program with a staff ratio of 1:4. Daily Schedule Each week at our Excursion Camps, participants will not only spend three days on-site, but will also have two days of off-site activities. During their on-site days, campers will engage in enrichment activities and special events. While off-site, campers will head out on a field trip or another unique excursion. CAMP COUNSELORS & FACILITIES CAMP CIT PROGRAM aSAFETY aFIRST-AID aCPR a CHILD GROWTH a CHILD DEVELOPMENT a TEACHING METHODS a GROUP DYNAMICS Our CIT program is a four-week program for teens entering 9th or 10th grade during the upcoming fall semester. The program will teach leadership skills, problem solving, communication skills and work ethics. The first week of the program will consist of teambuilding activities, CPR / First Aid training, professionalism seminars, job training and other sessions about working with children in a camp environment. Weeks 2-4 will be spent at a local Y summer camp location where each CIT participant will be paired with a seasoned counselor to gain hands-on experience using the training that they received. At each of our Y camps, our counselors are chosen for their maturity, skills, patience, enthusiasm and desire to be good role models for children. Staff undergo extensive training in the areas of: The health and safety of each camper is our primary concern. With that in mind, our counselors are backgroundchecked, trained in the above mentioned areas plus Child Safe training and accident prevention. Additionally, staff certified in water safety are present during all water activities. All of our equipment and facilities are inspected daily, including the lakes at YMCA Camp Twin Lakes which undergoes water quality tests monthly and as needed. Each of our camps are licensed by either the Texas Department of State Health Services or the Texas Department of Family & Protective Services. Session 1: Session 2: Cost: June 8 - July 3 July 13 - Aug 7 $50 (Deposit) • $400 (All 4 Weeks) All candidates for this program must complete an application as well as three reference forms and attend an interview to be accepted into the program. Once accepted, participants must register for the program and complete all four weeks in order to receive a certificate of completion.
