(Thu), Lobby We are very happy to have Honda’s thermobalance which can exhibit in the lobby of November hall from Tuesday to Thursday morning. This is historical balance. You can see and watch how the balance can work on time. It is the first time in the world to exhibit and watch the operation of Honda’s thermobalance. It should be mentioned with cordial thanks that the present exhibition of the scientific treasure is enabled by the efforts of Profs. Y. Saito (Tokyo Institute of Technology, TIT), H. Suga (Osaka Univ.), T. Maruyama (TIT), T. Doke (TIT), J. Morikawa (TIT), and Dr. Ueda (TIT) and Mr. A. Orie (TIT) and others. The operation times of Honda’s thermobalance will announce at a board in front of the thermobalance. 21 Aug. (Tue) 8:00-8:50, Hall A Kinki University Philharmonic will perform special music for ICTAC15 participants. 21 Aug. (Tue) 18:30-19:00, Hall A Kinki University Band, based in Osaka, there are about 100 students from the faculty of Law, Economics, Business Administration, Literature, Arts and Cultural Studies, Applied Sociology, Agriculture and Junior College. We are active aiming at the formation of a well-rounded character and a fulfilling university life through the music. We actively perform both at home and abroad. In the overseas expedition so far, we played at the "World Music Contest" which was held in the Kerkrade of Netherlands and were awarded the gold medal, In addition we had concert tours to other countries such as Europe and South Korea, and the "Honolulu Festival" which was held in Hawaii in such participation, we perform activities in which we make cultural exchange and international goodwill with foreign countries. On the other hand, on the domestic front the All Japan Band Competition, we won the gold medal 19 times out of 27 total times played, and we have carried out a special performance twice with the Gold medal Award for five consecutive years. Also, we do regular concerts, and pop concerts, in addition to holding concerts all over the country, and participate in the "Band of 3000 people," etc. we aim to balance the symphony and marching, so we perform a wide range of activities aggressively. 23 Aug. (Thu) 13:50-18:00 On Thursday in the afternoon, there is a planned excursion to Nara. Nara is one of oldest cities in Japan, 59 ICTAC15-JCCTA48 the capital of Japan in the 8th century prior to Kyoto. There are many ancient temples and shrines in Nara, reflecting Japan’s lengthy history. “Like a fragrant flower in full bloom,” is the way one ancient poet described Nara, this old and wondrous city. This will certainly be a memorable day so bring your camera and enjoy this excursion to Nara! Nara was the cradle of the great Japanese arts and the essence of culture in the early 8th century (Tempyo period). World Heritage sites of Nara include the temples Todaiji, Kofukuji, Yakushiji, Toshodaiji and the famous shrine Kasuga Taisha. On Thursday, we will visit a few of these sites. We will walk through Nara Park and visit Todaiji, which is considered the star attraction of Nara. The Daibutsuden (Hall of the Great Buddha) within Todaiji is the largest wooden building in the world and houses the Daibutsu (Great Buddha). It’s worth noting that the Daibutsu is one of the largest bronze images of Buddha in the world. Following Todaiji, we will walk to Kasuga Taisha, a famous shrine. According to the legendary history of Kasuga Taisha, a mythological god arrived in Nara on a white deer to guard the newly built capital in the 8th century. Since then, the deer around Nara have been regarded as heavenly animals, protecting the city and the country. As we stroll through Nara Park towards Todaiji and Kasuga Taisha, you will have the opportunity to see many of these deer resting in the shade. Time permitting, we will view other temples and famous historical sites in and around Nara Park. Following the Nara excursion, we will go to TAIKO-EN (太閤園), a Japanese restaurant, for the conference banquet. 23 Aug.
