Connecting 2 or more networks to each other is known as Internetworking. There are 2 types of
Internetworks: Private and Public. The Private Internetwork is connecting 2 or more sites of the same
company to each other. The Public Internetwork is what we call the “Internet”. The Public Internet allows
a company to connect to other companies over a public network to share make its services known to the
world.
There are 3 main devices that make this possible, namely the Router, the Switch & the Firewall. The
devices on a network are connected to each other by a device known as a switch. The Function of a
Router is to connect this network to another network. Now that the networks are connected to each
other, you need to secure them. You don't want users of other networks coming into your network and
accessing all the information. You do want them to access resources on your network but only to the
resources that you want them to access. The function of the firewall is to control the access into your
network based on the requirements of the company. This holds good whether you are connecting
different sites of the same company together or connecting to the Internet.

doesn't have one (yes, some exam centers are not good) and maybe it will make you more comfortable.
