Your participation this evening will make a big difference for the children of our school and for all who are involved in our Catholic education outreach. On a personal note I am happy to be participating in my second auction. Now that I have been at the parish for more than a year, I have a much greater appreciation of the interest and support that our school receives from throughout the parish and community. As you look over the items in the silent auction I hope you will find two or three indispensable things that you just can‟t do without!! In the live auction you will be presented with valuable products that I hope you will find to be desirable. Have a wonderful evening. Thanks you for your support. Sincerely, Fr. Mike Tierney 3 Dear Families and Friends of Christ the King Parish School, Get ready! Here we go! Put on your favorite Crusader Red because we‟re going to PAINT THE TOWN RED! I‟m so excited to be here with you this evening, and I want to take this opportunity to welcome you and thank you for coming out to support, our school, Christ the King. The school‟s annual auction has historically been CPTO‟s biggest fundraising event. We could not pull off a fundraiser of this size without the tremendous effort and support of our parents, parishioners and friends of Christ the King. As we enter into our eleventh year of the auction, CPTO continues to be quite successful in their fundraising efforts. Due to your wonderful support, Christ the King „s Catholic Parent-Teacher Organization has been able to provide funds for instructional support and classroom supplies which directly have impacted the learning of the children of Christ the King. A portion of the proceeds from this year‟s auction will go to the general fund that supports the school budget. Without you and other generous families and friends, Christ the King Parish School would not be able to fund many programs and activities for the students. I invite you to browse the silent auction displays and participate in our lively and exciting live auction to find treasures untold. I also encourage you to feast on our delicious shrimp boil or Jasper‟s gourmet spaghetti. Our goal is to continue to ride the wave of success that we have been so blessed to achieve. With your support we will be able to maintain the high standards of excellence that CTK has been able to provide our students while also continuing to raise the bar. Our amazing achievements are due, in large part, to our remarkable parents, alumni and our exceptional faculty. Your enthusiasm and commitment to our school and to student learning is unmatched. Christ the King is truly a community that is dedicated to the continued excellence of our school. By your support and generosity you allow us to grow and continue to be successful. Once again, I thank you for all your passion, hard work and contributions. Please help us make this year‟s auction even more successful than last year‟s. We cannot achieve our goals without your support. So buckle yourself in and get ready for a wild ride. We‟re gonna‟ PAINT THE TOWN RED! Go crazy folks! Your donation allows us to give kids a limitless future. Values assigned to the auction items are good faith estimates only and are not warranted by Christ the King Parish School for tax or other purposes. 4. Cashiers will accumulate receipts for items purchased by the successful bidder during the evening. Bidders may make payment and pick up their merchandise 30 minutes after a silent auction section closes or after a live auction item is sold if they wish to leave before the auction is concluded. 5. All sales are final and there can be no exchanges or refunds for items purchased. 6. Unless otherwise specified, all trips, gift certificates, and the like must be used within one year. Arrangements for use of such items after February 18, 2012 must be mutually agreed upon between donor and buyer. SILENT AUCTION RULES 1. The silent auction will commence at 6:00 p.m. 2. First bids must exceed the opening bid stated on the bid sheet. 4. Each bid increase must be in even dollar amounts, must equal or exceed the minimum increase figure stated on the bid sheet in order to constitute a valid bid. 5. All silent auction items may be bid upon until the section is officially closed. Closing times are listed throughout the catalog. 6. The silent auction Table Attendant at each table will act as final authority on all purchases. 7. The last legitimate bid on a bid sheet when a section closes will be the winning bid and all bids are final. LIVE AUCTION RULES 1. All items must be picked up auction night unless other arrangements are made at Checkout. Christ the King will not be held responsible for any items remaining after Auction is concluded. 9 TAX INFORMATION FOR PATRONS OF THE CHRIST THE KING PARISH SCHOOL AUCTION Federal tax legislation contains substantiation and disclosure requirements that affect all charitable organizations, which are exempt under Section 501 © (3) of the IRS Code. The two areas which require documentation are substantiation of contributions in excess of $250 and the disclosure of contributions in excess of $75 for which the donor receives a quid pro quo in the form of goods or services from the charity. Quid Pro Disclosure Statement The ticket price for the Christ the King Auction is believed to be a reasonable estimate of the fair market value of the food, complimentary beverages and entertainment services. Persons who pay more for an item than the stated fair market value will be considered to have made a donation to Christ the King equal to the difference of those two amounts. If the auction item consisted solely of tangible religious beliefs, it is regarded for tax purposes to have no fair market value and the entire purchase amount will therefore be considered a charitable donation. All cash gifts to Christ the King School qualify as charitable contributions as long as the donor receives no direct benefit in return. If the amount of the cash donation or the donated auction item is more than $250, the donor is required to have a written acknowledgment as substantiation for the contribution. Upon request, Christ the King School will provide such substantiation, which will contain the cash amount contributed or the identity of the item, but not its fair market value. Patrons of the auction are advised to consult their professional tax advisor for specific information regarding the proper deductibility of their financial support of the auction. Disclaimer Every item about which all reasonable information was available at press closing is included herein. Every effort has been made to assure the accuracy of the information contained herein. The Auction 2011 Committee reserves the right to restate the value of any item, as well as to delete items that did not become available. Your cooperation and understanding is very much appreciated. 10 Cardinal Section closes promptly at 7:30 p.m. 50 / 50 Raffle Drawing will take place during Live Auction! As you know, when money is placed in an endowment fund only the interest can be used; the principal cannot be touched. With that in mind, Cristina‟s family has asked that at least for the time being, the money raised in her memory go directly to support needy families. Each year in consultation with the Furey family and the School Advisory Board we will evaluate our needs and determine the best distribution of the funds that are raised. With that in mind I ask for your support for this special appeal when it is presented at tonight‟s auction. Sincerely, Fr. Don't pass up your opportunity to experience a Chicago Cubs game from one of the official rooftop partners across the street from Wrigley Field! One of the most unique, fun and entertaining tickets in all of sports. A must do for any baseball fan! The experience at any of the Wrigley Field Waveland rooftops is said to be a whole other ball game not only for the views but also the great comfort and service. From these rooftops, you get an unobstructed view of the entire infield, as well as the outfield areas of Wrigley Field, and the historic Wrigley Field scoreboard. Avoid all the crowds and confusion of the ball park without missing any of the excitement of the game. Wrigley Field Waveland Rooftop Bleachers and Dining Package for (2) - Just pick the game and everything else will be arranged! Unlike the ball field, your rooftop admission provides your seats, unlimited beverages (premium and domestic beers, California wines and soft drinks) and unlimited appetizers, entrees and desserts with a large and varied menu of popular Chicago summer fair served over the course of the game. Enjoy seasonal salads, Chicago-style hot dogs, BBQ chicken and burgers, snacks, cookies, brownies and chef’s specialties. Vegetarian items are available on request. Valid for the Chicago Cubs 2011 regular season, subject to availability. Excludes Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees games. Waveland Rooftops: These recently renovated buildings offer fun in the sun with unique, eating-station bleacher systems. There are no assigned seats so everyone can mix and mingle with plenty of room to visit in the bleachers or in the shade. If an inviting indoor bar is more desirable, then hang out on the third floor of each building in an air conditioned elite sports bar with large screen TVs and great dramatic views of the game through floor-to-ceiling picture windows. 1010 Waveland - Everything is over sized! The bleachers are huge, the food and drink service bars are huge, even the pictures on the walls are over sized! The club house level has two huge plasma screen TVs, two bars, a balcony looking into the park, great spaces for display boards or presentations and bar seating. The rooftop boasts a large beer garden, room to get in out of the sun, marble and granite restrooms, two massive bars–one for food and one for drinks, and rows and rows of “bar bleachers." This means each person is sitting at a bar with staggered heights where you can see the game bellied up! 1038 Waveland - A hip and modern vibe kick inside and out! The low club style seating, sleek shiny tall tables, and over-thetop artwork all immerse Cubs fans in a club-like game experience. The building boasts a modern elevator that can take you all the way to the top. On the rooftop, traditional box seats make you feel like you are in the game. 1048 Waveland – Enjoy the traditional feel and the historic photographs. On the rooftop deck, you will find a new addition to the Wrigley Field experience -- a massive roof top “bleacher bar” where you can sit at the individual bars and watch the game.
