Dr. Forsyth is the Chief Economist of Avista Corp. Before coming to Avista in 2012, he was Professor of Economics at Eastern Washington University from 1999 to 2012. Before EWU, from 1996 to 1999, he worked in the Czech Republic as an academic and private sector economist. He received his BA in Economics from Central Washington University (1988), his MBA in Finance from the University of Oregon (1990), and his PhD in Economics from Washington State University (1996). He also serves on Washington Governor’s Council of Economic Advisors; The Citizen Commission for the Performance Measurement of Tax Preferences; and the Spokane Mayor’s Economic Advisory Roundtable. North Idaho Alivia Metts, Regional Economist Idaho Department of Labor Alivia Metts works at the Department of Labor in Post Falls. She is the Department’s Regional Labor Economist for the five most northern counties in Idaho. She was previously employed by HDR Engineering, Inc.— a nationwide consulting firm‑ where she worked mostly out of the Washington and Alaska offices. Her work there included economic and environmental planning, in regards to researching and analyzing the social and economic impacts projects have on communities. She also served as economic development coordinator for the Eight Mile Boulevard Association while working at Fox Sports in Detroit, Michigan. Alivia graduated with a degree in economics from the University of Michigan and also holds an associate’s degree in business administration. Special Topics Finding Quality Data Paul Polzin, Ph.D., Director Emertus, University of Montana Bureau of Business & Economy Research Paul Polzin was diector of the Bureau of Business and Economic Research at the Universty of Montana for 20 years, retiring in 2008. He received his Ph.D. In Economics from Michigan State in 1968. He has been a featured speaker at the Montana Economic Seminars for 40 years. Prof Polzin sprecializes in the ananlysis of local economic areas. Prof Polzinis the past president of the Western Regional Science Association and the Association of University Bureaues for Economic Research (AUBER) and twice the chair of the Pacific Northwest Regional Economic Conference (PNREC). 6 2015 REAL ESTATE MARKET FORUM Special Topics (Continued) How to Use The Real Estate Report Bruce Jolicoeur, Senior Director, Valbridge Property Advisors Bruce Jolicoeur is a Senior Managing Director and real estate analyst, appraiser and consultant with Valbridge Property Advisors | Auble, Jolicoeur & Gentry in Spokane, Washington. He started his career with TJ Meenach Company in 1979 and joined the Appraisal Department at James S. Black in 1982. In 1985, Dave Auble purchased the appraisal department and formed Auble and Associates, which ultimately became Auble, Jolicoeur and Gentry after merging with Columbia Valuation in 1999. Bruce has been President of Auble, Jolicoeur and Gentry since 2010. Today, Auble, Jolicoeur & Gentry, Inc. has offices in Spokane, WA, Coeur d’Alene, ID and Kennewick, WA.
