Status on Upgrading of the Fehmarn Railway Ringsted-Fehmarn 08.06.2016 Presented by Project Director Jens Ole Kaslund 1 Ringsted – Fehmarn Banen so far 2012 – 2013: Programme Phase 2013: Political decision of 200 km/h and financial act for early works. Tendering of early and other works started 2014: Early works 2015: Construction law past parliament April 28 th 2015. 2016: Political decision of upgrade in 2021 to Nykøbing F and electrification of the same line in 2024 latest. Work at Lolland will be coordiniated with tunnel opening. 2 3 Ringsted – Fehmarn – Outcomes Outcomes/Benefits - More departures for both freight and passenger trains - Reduced travel times – less than an hour between Nykøbing F and Copenhagen. Close to 2½ hours between Copenhagen and Hamburg - Reduced freight traffic across Funen - More flexibility and improved punctuality - More effective railway projects 4 Full scope - Double tracks Vordingborg – Rødby - Upgrading the speed limit to 200 km/h Ringsted - Rødby - New station north of Rødby - Passing tracks for 1000 meter long freight trains - Catenary system Ringsted – Rødby - New double tracked bridge across Masnedsund - New single track bascule bridge across Guldborgsund - ERTMS baseline 3 level 2 from Ringsted - Rødby 5 Political decision of way forward for Femern A political agreement was reached Marth 4th 2016 For the related Danish rail work it means: – – Double track, ERTMS baseline 3 level 2 and speed upgrade to 200 km/h from Ringsted to Nykøbing F will be finished in 2021 Electrification from Ringsted to Nykøbing F will be finished latest at 2024 – Work on the line on Lolland – Nykøbing F to the tunnel – are postponed and will be coordinated with opening og the tunnel – The Storstrøms Bridge is not part of this agreement, but it is expected to open in 2024 at the latest. – Budget are still 9.5 billion DKK (pl2105) including reserves. – It is financed by A/S Femern Landanlæg and EU 6 Major track possessions The major track possessions are expected within the following where a large amount of the work are expected: Between Ringsted and Næstved Total possession in 7 weeks, spring 2020 Total possession 6 months, middle of 2021 Between Næstved and Orehoved. Total possession one week in 2017 Total possession in 3 months in the summer of 2019. Falster Total possession in 7 weeks in 2018 Total possession 6 month in the middle of 2019 Total possession 4½ month in middle of 2021 Lolland The current line will be renewed as needed to keep it open until the upgrade starts.
