Trash is picked up on Mondays and Thursday except for public holidays
(Christmas, New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving, Memorial Day, Labor Day, July
4th). On those days, trash will be collected on the next regular collection day.
Please wait until collection day to leave your trash on the curb. There have
been complaints that trash is being left on the curb for several days. Also,
please remember that trashcans should be placed out of sight after pick-up.

2016 B. F. ADAM GOLF CLASSIC
The Cy-Fair Educational Foundation (CFEF) hosted its 28th Annual B.F.
Adam Golf Classic at BlackHorse Golf Club, one of the top public courses in
the state of Texas. Underwriter Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital,
Platinum Sponsors Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, IBI Group and
Satterfield & Pontikes Construction and Gold Sponsor KME Salas O’Brien
have generously supported the B. F. Adam Golf Classic helping the
Foundation raise more than $1.2 million over the past 10 years. To date the
tournament has raised in excess of $2.6 million, including $135,000 this year.
The B.F. Adam Classic is named for B.F. (Bernard Fred) Adam who was a lifelong
Cy-Fair resident and a devoted school board member, serving 24 years on the
board and namesake of B.F. Adam Elementary. The day’s events included lunch
sponsored by Caldwell Companies, welcoming remarks from Bob Adam CFEF
Trustee since 1971 and son of B. F. Adam, shotgun start, dinner catered by
Carl’s BBQ and Willies Grill & Icehouse, a raffle and live auction.
The B.F. Adam Golf Classic is one of the largest non-celebrity tournaments
in the Houston area. After the recent floods, it was a welcome relief for the
players as they enjoyed fair skies and very good playing conditions. The
tournament was a rousing success. This year’s winners included ACU of
Texas, Jakes’ Finer Foods and Prosperity Bank on the north course and
Purcell Construction, Inc, Alamo Red/The Backyard Grill and Cypress
Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital on the south course.

NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION
New Student Registration will begin August 9th-12th, 2016 from 8 AM to 3 PM
at all campuses. Visit your campus website or contact your school for further
information. To register, parents must provide the school with the following items:
• Certified copy of the child’s birth certificate from the Bureau of Vital Statistics
(see City of Houston Bureau of Vital Statistics to obtain a birth certificate if
born in the city of Houston)
• Current immunization record
• Proof of residency (a current electric, gas, or water bill or a lease agreement)
• Social security card for each child, if available
• Photo ID of parent or guardian
Since not every school has a prekindergarten program, parents may call the
neighborhood elementary school to help determine the school in which to
register their child.

exceptions will be made. The district provides full-day kindergarten.
If your child is currently enrolled in Cypress-Fairbanks I.S.D. and over the
summer you moved from one school zone to another within the district, you
need to provide the registrar (at your child’s new home campus) with your
current proof of residence during new student registration. The registrar will
request your child’s records from his/her previous school.

CAMP CORNERSTONE IS THE PLACE
TO BE THIS SUMMER FOR AGES 2
THROUGH COMPLETION OF 4TH GRADE!
Camp Cornerstone is a week-long camp facilitated by Cornerstone United
Methodist Preschool and is for children ages 2 through the completion of
4th grade. Children must be 2 by June 1, 2016. Camp hours are 9:30 AM-1
PM. There are 3 sessions throughout the summer and you are invited to
participate in any or all!
Session II: Princesses and Pirates is July 11th-15th
Session III: Under the Sea is August 1st-5th
The cost per camp per child is $120. You may pay $60 now and the
remaining $60 on the first day of camp. Registration forms are online or in
the preschool office. To download a form from the Cornerstone website, go
to www.cornerstoneumc.org and click on “preschool.” You will see a tab for
Camp Cornerstone. You can print the form and have it filled out before you
arrive, saving yourself time!
Before each camp session begins, you will hear from your child’s teacher so
you can learn more about the camp and she will answer any questions you
may have. Each day your child will bring a backpack and a lunch. Please

AMERICAN ROBOTICS ACADEMY
For ages 6 and up, weeklong camps (either half-or full-day), June 6th-August

HOPE AT KINSMEN LUTHERAN CHURCH
Registration is currently underway for Camp Hope, a summer day camp
offered by Kinsmen Lutheran Church. Camp Hope is unique because it is
led entirely by high school and college students, many of whom grew up
attending Camp Hope themselves. The students bring energy and passion
to their leadership, which results in a highly engaging experience for kids.

Camp Hope will be held for three weeks in July (July 11th-14th, 18th-22nd and
25th-29th) and is designed for children entering kindergarten through seventh
grade. Families can choose to register their child for one, two or all three
weeks. Hours of the camp are 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM, with before and after
care available from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM. This year’s theme for Camp Hope
is “Be A Hero!” Each day will center around the story of a different hero
in the Bible, with every activity-games, crafts, worship, drama, small group
time and even snacks-pointing back to the story of the day. All activities take
place at Kinsmen Lutheran Church, with the exception of service projects

Watermelon festival is a wholesome summer festival fit for the entire family.
The festival kicks off with the Watermelon Festival Parade and spans
throughout the day, offering a BBQ cook-off, art vendors and an auction.
Various competitions will be held, such as a quilt and dog parade. The event
will take place at Hempstead Gazebo Park, 1116 Austin Street, Hempstead,

July 22nd - Bikes, Bats, Brews & B-Cycles - all on Buffalo Bayou! Meet
at Fonde Community Center’s parking lot, 110 Sabine Street, Houston, TX
77007. It will be from 7:15-10:30 PM. Admission is free! Buffalo Bayou runs
right down the middle of our city and is home to over a quarter of a million
Mexican Free Tail Bats. These bats live under Waugh street bridge and
come out at sunset to dine on our local mosquito population - Go Bats, Go!
Plus, we now have a well-paved path that runs the length of the bayou from
Shepherd street bridge all the way to downtown and back. It makes for a
wonderful evening cycle. Add to that our stable of B-Cycles (rental bikes
stationed all over central city) and you have the makings for an awesome
evening bike ride! Join Bayou City Outdoors as we lead the group for an
easy 6 - 8 mile ride stopping for about 30 minutes to watch the bats pour out
and then onto to downtown for the adventurous. We’ll stop at a local watering
hole and be back by 10:30 PM. If 10:30 PM is past your bedtime, we will be
stopping at our parking lot on the way downtown to drop off our early birds.

How would you feel if you saved a kid’s life? StandUp For Kids is an all
volunteer organization dedicated to saving the lives of at-risk and homeless
kids through volunteer outreach efforts. Our volunteers search the streets in
order to find, stabilize and otherwise help homeless and street kids improve
their lives. Every day throughout the US thirteen kids die on the streets from
abuse, disease and suicide. According to recent statistics Houston has up to
2,500 kids living on the streets at any given time. Texas has the highest rate
of homeless youth in the U.S.

food, clothing, counseling and a safe environment for the homeless youth of
