The Georgia-Kentucky Series
With a victory Saturday, Georgia (6-4, 4-3 SEC) can lock up second place in the Eastern Division
and improve its bowl position. Like Georgia, Kentucky (6-4, 2-4) can now relax a bit after becoming
bowl-eligible following its win this past Saturday. While the Bulldogs rallied past No. 25 Auburn 31-24
here in Athens, the Wildcats posted a 24-13 road win over Vanderbilt. Georgia and Kentucky both erased
halftime deficits. The Bulldogs trailed 14-7 while the Wildcats were behind 13-10.
The Georgia-Kentucky series began in 1939, and the Bulldogs hold a 49-11-2 edge. Georgia
escaped the Commonwealth last year with a 42-38 win as the fans were treated to a thriller. Matthew
Stafford’s 11-yard touchdown pass to A.J. Green with 1:54 left put Georgia ahead. Then with Kentucky
at the Bulldogs 18 yard line, Demarcus Dobbs intercepted a Randall Cobb screen pass with 46 seconds
left to preserve the win. Georgia linebacker Rennie Curran tallied 15 tackles on the day. In 2007 when
Kentucky last came to Athens, Georgia registered a 24-13 win after trailing 10-0.
Looking At the Top Wildcats
Kentucky sophomore Randall Cobb is a fine talent and fills many roles for the Wildcats. A 5-11,
188-pound native of Alcoa, Tenn., Cobb is playing primarily at wide receiver this season, with occasional
action at quarterback in the “WildCobb” formation. Also, he returns punts and kickoffs and serves as
the holder for extra points and field goals. Currently, Cobb ranks in the top 10 of five SEC statistical
categories.
In their latest win over Vanderbilt, Cobb ran for two touchdowns while junior tailback Derrick Locke
rushed for a career 144 yards and a touchdown as the Wildcats became bowl eligible for a school record
fourth straight year. Against the Commodores, Locke even threw a 41-yard pass to quarterback Morgan
Newton. Overall, Kentucky piled up a season-high 308 yards rushing and 399 total yards. Kentucky’s
defense held Vanderbilt to 31 yards of offense in the second half and no points.
Sanford Stadium Finale For Bulldog Seniors
The 2009 Georgia senior class plays their final home game at Sanford Stadium on Saturday. They
own a 36-13 mark in their career, including a 3-0 mark in bowl games. They will try and become only
the second Bulldog class to win four straight bowl games, joining the class of 2000. The 2009 seniors
have victories in the 2006 Chick-Fil-A Bowl over #14 Virginia Tech, the 2008 Sugar Bowl over #10
Hawaii and the 2009 Capital One Bowl over #18 Michigan State. There are 23 seniors in this group of
Bulldogs: DT Geno Atkins, QB Jonathan Batson, DE Rod Battle, FS Stephen Braue, QB Joe Cox, DT
Ricardo Crawford, LB Darius Dewberry, FS Bryan Evans, FB Justin Fields, LB Devin Hollander,
PK Andrew Jensen, SS Andrew Johnson, WC Prince Miller, SE Mike Moore, RT Casey Nickels,
WC Christian Norton, C Kevin Perez, DT Jeff Owens, FLK Vernon Spellman, LG Vince Vance, DE
Marcus Washington, DT Kade Weston and DT Brandon Wheeling.
Ealey, King Emerge As A Force On The Ground
Georgia is looking for a consistent threat at tailback and may have found it in a combination of
freshman Washaun Ealey and redshirt sophomore Caleb King. The Bulldogs registered 169 yards
rushing against #25 Auburn after piling up 304 versus Tennessee Tech a week earlier. Ealey exploded
for a career-high 98 yards rushing on 18 carries and one touchdown versus Auburn and was named SEC
Freshman of the Week. King, starting the second game of his career, added a pair of scoring runs and 68
yards on the ground against the Tigers. Ealey had the first two TDs of his career and a then career-high
89 yards against the Golden Eagles. The Bulldogs have had four different leading rushers through 10
games. Sophomore Richard Samuel started the first six games and Ealey started the next two before
King assumed the starting role.
Georgia began the season with Samuel and King in the backfield. Samuel rushed for a career-high
104 yards at Arkansas, including an 80-yard TD run. King missed the first two games with a hamstring
injury. He returned against the Razorbacks and had 11 carries for 59 yards, but suffered a fractured jaw
and a concussion against #4 LSU and missed the Tennessee game. King scored two TDs, including his
first career receiving score on a 21-yard TD pass from Joe Cox, at Vanderbilt.
Paving the way for Georgia’s tailbacks are junior fullbacks Shaun Chapas and Fred Munzenmaier.

THE OFFENSE
THE DEFENSE
Cox Directs Bulldogs
Curran No. 2 In The SEC In Tackles
Senior Joe Cox connected on his first 10 passes against Tennessee Tech
and finished with 140 yards passing with two TDs and no INTs. Cox also had
two TD passes against the #1 Gators, which doubled the total Florida had surrendered on the year. Two weeks before the Florida game, he helped snap the
Bulldogs’ two-game losing streak by directing the Bulldogs to a 34-10 win at
Vanderbilt. He was 16-of-31 completing passes to 10 different receivers against
the Commodores. Cox also had a career-long 65-yard TD play to A.J. Green
against Vanderbilt.
Cox tied the school record with five touchdown passes against Arkansas
while passing for a career-high 375 yards. Cox was 18-of-25 on the night (72
percent) and his five TDs tied Matthew Stafford (Georgia Tech, 2008), D.J.
Shockley (Boise State, 2005) and David Greene (LSU, 2004). He was named
the Walter Camp Foundation National Offensive Player of the Week and SEC
Offensive Player of the Week.
Cox led the Bulldogs on an 18-play, 60-yard TD drive that lasted 7:52
versus #4 LSU. This was the most plays during a TD scoring drive for the
Bulldogs since they ran 19 plays covering 87 yards against Tennessee (1988).
That drive lasted 8:45. The scoring drive against the Tigers lasted longer than
any TD scoring drive since Georgia scored a TD in 8:33 on 16 plays versus
Kentucky (1997).
Sophomore quarterback Logan Gray is Cox’s backup. Gray finished
with a career-high four completions for 25 yards against Tennessee Tech. He
also returns punts and plays on several special teams for the Bulldogs.
Junior WLB Rennie Curran is second in the
SEC with 9.4 tackles per game (94 tackles this year).
Curran is looking to become the first Georgia player
since LB Greg Bright to have back-to-back years
with more than 100 tackles (1996, 1997). He has
led the Bulldogs in nine of 10 games, including a
12-tackle performance versus #25 Auburn. He is the
top returning tackler in the SEC after recording 115
stops in 2008. Curran set a new career high with 16
tackles versus #4 LSU in 2009. Earlier in the season,
he matched his career high with 15 tackles against
USC and had the game-winning pass break-up in
the game’s final seconds. Junior Akeem Dent returned to the starting lineup
following an injury to tally six tackles versus #25 Auburn. Also against the
Tigers, sophomore Nick Williams had a career-high four tackles off the bench.
Redshirt freshman Christian Robinson had a career-high five tackles versus
Tennessee Tech the week before.
Curran was the first Georgia defender to register 100 tackles in a season
since safety Thomas Davis in 2003. Davis tallied 130 that season and eventually earned All-America honors and was a first-round pick in the 2005 draft
by the Carolina Panthers, the 14th player selected overall.

The Bulldog offensive line has allowed only 11 sacks this season while
starting five different alignments this year. Junior Josh Davis began starting
at RT for the Bulldogs against Vanderbilt after returning from an injury. Junior
Clint Boling, who had started the first six games at RT, has gotten the nod at
LT the last three games. At RT, Boling was named the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week after the 41-37 win over the Gamecocks. Georgia started
Trinton Sturdivant (LT), Chris Davis (LG), Ben Jones (C), Cordy Glenn
(RG) and Boling (RT) in their season opener. Sturdivant, who was a Freshman
All-American after starting 13 games in 2007 and then missed the 2008 season
due to a left knee injury, re-injured his knee at #9 OSU and was lost for the rest
of the season.
Green Out, But Leading The League In Receiving
Georgia sophomore A.J. Green is building on a successful freshman
season and is currently leading the SEC receiving yards/game (83.4) and rec./
game (5.2). His 751 yards ranks second in the league.
After catching three balls for 19 yards, Green was forced to leave the
game against #25 Auburn with an injured left shoulder AC (Acromioclavicular)
sprain at the beginning of the second quarter and will not play versus Kentucky.
He also missed the game with Tennessee Tech due to a bruised lung that happened against top-ranked Florida on Oct. 31.
Green’s top performance this season came against Arizona State when he
snagged eight catches for 153 yards and a touchdown. It was his fourth career
100-yard game, and he was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week. He
also blocked his first career field goal late in the fourth quarter against the Sun
Devils to help secure the win.
Also, he had a big game in the road win against the Razorbacks, registering
137 yards on seven catches and a career-high two touchdowns. In 2008, Green
led the SEC in receiving yardage, yards per game and tied for first in TDs by
receivers. He became the first Bulldog to lead the SEC in receiving since Brice
Hunter (59 rec.,799 yds.,7 TDs) in 1994.

The front features three seniors as Jeff Owens returns from a 2008 injury to rejoin Geno Atkins and Kade Weston. Atkins was named the SEC
Defensive Lineman of the Week after he equaled his career high with eight
tackles after coming off the bench against Vanderbilt and was named a captain
for the second straight week for his efforts. Owens registered a career-high
seven tackles and Weston set a new personal best with five tackles, including a
sack, against #4 LSU in 2009. Sophomore DeAngelo Tyson also contributed
for the Bulldog front after blocking USC’s final extra point and forcing the
Gamecocks to go for a touchdown in the game’s final seconds.
Boykin Has Top Games Versus Ranked Opponents
Sophomore SC Brandon Boykin has had his top performances against
ranked opponents. He registered a career-high eight tackles and added his
third interception of the season versus #25 Auburn. A week earlier against #1
Florida, Boykin had seven solo tackles. Boykin had his second career interception in addition to four solo stops versus #4 LSU. Junior Reshad Jones tied
Boykin for the team lead with seven tackles against the Gators before had his
second pick of the year against the Tigers. Jones had a season-high 10 tackles
(career-high nine solos) against LSU. Redshirt sophomore safety Bacarri
Rambo snagged his second interception of the season against the Volunteers
and returned it 28 yards for a touchdown. It is the only defensive TD for the
Bulldogs this year. He suffered a concussion versus Auburn after tallying three
tackles. The Bulldogs’ starting unit features senior Prince Miller and Boykin
at the cornerbacks and Jones and senior Bryan Evans at the safeties.
Bulldogs Tally Nine Sacks In Last Two Games
After registering six versus Tennessee Tech, the Bulldogs had three
more against #25 Auburn. Both redshirt freshman Cornelius Washington
and redshirt sophomore Justin Houston each had a sack versus the Tigers.
Houston has tallied six sacks on the year, although only playing in seven games.
Houston started his season with a career-high seven tackles against Arkansas
and then had four tackles, a sack and two TFLs versus ASU, earning himself
SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week honors. Freshman Montez Robinson
exploded for a career-high five tackles, including two sacks, against Tennessee Tech and was also named the SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week.
Georgia finished with 15 tackles for loss against the Golden Eagles. Junior
DE Demarcus Dobbs has started all 10 games at the other defensive end spot
and has 25 tackles and 3.5 sacks.

SPECIAL TEAMS / POINTS OF INTEREST
Butler Is Nation’s Top Punter
In his first season as a starter, redshirt sophomore Drew Butler is leading the NCAA with an
average of 49.0 yards on 45 punts. The school record is 45.4 set in 1984 by Chip Andrews. Georgia
also leads the NCAA in net punting by more than
two yards, sporting a 43.73 average.
Butler continued his success against #1 Florida
by averaging 52.5 yards on four punts, including a
61 yarder. His 57.0 average against #9 Oklahoma
State is the second-best average for a game since
1958 (Bobby Walden, 63.0). Butler’s 75 yarder was
the longest since Brian Mimbs booted a 77 yarder
in 2008 versus USC. Versus the Razorbacks, Butler
booted a 64 yarder to pin Arkansas on its own 9
yard line late in the fourth quarter to help clinch
the game for the Bulldogs.
Butler is the son of former NFL standout and
Bulldog All-American Kevin Butler. Butler is
on Georgia’s post-game radio show. Mitch Frix
snapped the ball to Butler during the 1981-82 seasons and now Frix’s son, Ty, snaps to Drew (see
next note).

Frix Following In Footsteps
Redshirt freshman Ty Frix is starting snapper
for the Bulldogs. Frix is a Biomedical Engineering major and was valedictorian at Calhoun HS.
Georgia was looking for a new snapper after twoyear starter Bo Fowler completed his career. Frix’s
father, Dr. Mitch Frix, was the starting snapper for
Georgia in 1981 and ‘82 and was member of three
SEC championship teams, one national title team
and three Sugar Bowl teams.
Renner Blocks Another Punt
Redshirt sophomore SE Zach Renner blocked
the third punt of his career late in the opening half
against Tennessee for a safety. This ties Renner for
the school record in punt blocks. Corrie Collier
(2000-01), Kendrell Bell (1999-2000) and David
Pollack (2001-04) all had three during their careers.
Renner also had blocks against Alabama and Arizona State during the 2008 season. His latest punt
block was the 17th for the Bulldogs in the Mark
Richt era.
Boykin Owns KOR Record
Early Experience
Sophomore defensive back Brandon Boykin
set the school record for kickoff return yardage in
a single season with 769 kickoff return yards on
31 returns. He also has the most kickoff returns
in a season, breaking the old mark of 28 shared by
Gene Washington (1974) and Asher Allen (2007).
Arkansas’ Dennis Johnson holds the SEC record
for return yardage after registering 905 return yards
on 41 returns in 2008. Boykin is the first player in
SEC history with two 100-yard kickoff returns for
touchdowns in the same season after picking up
his second one during the matchup at Tennessee.
Tennessee’s Willie Gault holds the SEC record for
KOR TDs in a season with three in 1980. Gault’s
covered 100 yds. (Pittsburgh), 94 yds. (Vanderbilt)
and 92 yds. (Kentucky).
Boykin and former Bulldog Gene Washington
now share the mark with two kickoff returns for
touchdowns in a season. Jimmy Campagna holds
the school record with three return touchdowns in
a season (two punts, one KOR) in 1952.
Boykin’s first 100-yard kickoff return of the
year came against USC. This was the longest
scoring play for Georgia in Sanford Stadium history. Boykin, who also had an INT in the game,
finished with the second-most kickoff return yards
in a single game (187), missing the school record by
just three yards (Scott Woerner, 1977, Kentucky).
Freshman Branden Smith also had a 48-yard
kickoff return against the Gamecocks.
Georgia has played 10 true freshmen
this season, including seven during its season
opener. TE Orson Charles, TE Arthur Lynch,
DB Branden Smith, DE Montez Robinson,
DT Abry Jones, LB Shawn Williams and SLB
Michael Gilliard all took the field against #9
Okla. State. Both freshmen WRs Rantavious
Wooten and Marlon Brown and TB Washaun
Ealey have also played this season.
The Bulldogs played 24 freshmen (12 true
freshmen) during the 2008 season. Flanker A.J.
Green, offensive lineman Cordy Glenn, center
Ben Jones and kicker Blair Walsh all started
games for Georgia as true freshmen in 2008.
Walsh Also On Pace For Record
Bulldog sophomore Blair Walsh is on pace to
set the school single-season record for field goal accuracy. He has hit 14-of-15 (93.33%). The record is
13-of-14 (92.86%) for the season by Billy Bennett
in 2000. Walsh connected on a 37-yard FG to beat
ASU as time expired in 2009. This was the first
game-winning FG for the Bulldogs since Brandon
Coutu drilled one from the same distance to beat
Vanderbilt in 2007 (also a 20-17 win). Walsh also
hit a career-long 53-yard field goal at #9 OSU this
year and then connected on a 52 yarder versus the
Volunteers. His kick against the Cowboys was the
longest FG for the Bulldogs since Coutu connected
on a 55 yarder against UAB in 2006. Walsh’s FG
was the longest on the road since Hap Hines hit a
54 yarder versus Kentucky in 2006.
Walsh Career Highlights
• On target to have the best FG percentage in a
season (Billy Bennett, 2000, 92.86%, 13-of-14)
• Hit a 37-yard game winner versus ASU in 2009
• Is 4-for-4 on 50-yard+ FGs in 2009 and 6-for-9
from that distance in his career
• Tied career high 14 points on three field goals (35,
37 and 31) and five PATs at Arkansas in 2009; also
at Tennessee in 2008
• A perfect 81-for-81 in PATs.
• First career field goal, 52 yarder against Georgia
Southern in 2008. It the longest ever by a Bulldog
freshman at Sanford Stadium.
• Career-long 53 yarder at #9 Okla. State in 2009

Currently, Georgia has 40 former players
on 2009 NFL rosters. The Bulldogs were tied
for third in the nation with 36 former players on
NFL opening day rosters in 2008.
In the last six years, 16 former Bulldogs
have helped their teams reach the Super Bowl,
including Super Bowl XL MVP Hines Ward.
A total of 26 Georgia players have been
NFL first-round draft choices since Frank Sinkwich was taken ninth by the Detroit Lions in the
1943. In 2009, Matthew Stafford was the No. 1
pick overall by the Detroit Lions.

Junior WLB Rennie Curran has the team’s
longest streak of most consecutive games started.
Curran has started 27 straight. On offense, junior
OT Clint Boling has started 22 consecutive and 33
total games for the Bulldogs. Also of note, senior
DT Jeff Owens has started 36 games despite missing every game but the opener in 2008. He was a
captain for the Auburn game for the third time this
season. Owens injured his knee in the 2008 opener
versus Ga. Southern.

Inside Some Numbers This Season
-15: Georgia’s turnover ratio through 10 games this season. The Bulldogs have
22 turnovers and have forced only seven. Georgia is tied for 118th nationally
in turnover margin behind Miami (OH).
0: The number of points USC got when Bulldog sophomore DeAngelo Tyson
blocked an extra point to maintain Georgia’s lead at 38-37 early in the fourth
quarter. Georgia went on to win 41-37.
3: The number of blocked punts Zach Renner has in his career after blocking
one for a safety against Tennessee. He is now one of only four players in
school history to have three in his career.
4: Sophomore PK Blair Walsh is 4-for-4 in field goals of 50 yards or more this
season and 6-for-9 from that distance in his career
5: Touchdown passes by senior Joe Cox against Arkansas to tie the school
record, joining David Greene, D.J. Shockley and Matthew Stafford.
7:52: The duration of Georgia’s TD scoring drive vs. #4 LSU, marking the
longest TD scoring drive for the Bulldogs since 1997.
36: Georgia set a school record by averaging 36.0 yards per kickoff return in
the win over South Carolina. UGA had a record 252 yards on seven returns.
37: Blair Walsh nailed a 37-yard game-winning FG as time expired vs. ASU.
It was his first game winner in high school or college.
48: Arkansas scored the most points ever by a Bulldog opponent in a loss in
regulation. The only team to score more and lose was Auburn (49) in the fourovertime thriller on the Plains in 1996. Georgia won 56-49.
53: In his first attempt of the season, sophomore Blair Walsh booted a careerbest 53-yard field goal at Oklahoma State. It was the longest by a Bulldog
since Brandon Coutu nailed a 55-yarder against UAB in 2006.
57.0: Punting average of sophomore Drew Butler against Oklahoma State,
the second best in school history. He had 342 yards on six punts including a
75-yarder in his first career start. Butler is leading the nation with a 49.04
average.
81: Sophomore PK Blair Walsh is 81-for-81 in PATs during his career.
72.5: Georgia leads the SEC averaging 72.5 penalty yards a game and is 114th
nationally, but Bulldog opponents are averaging 63.8 penalty yards per game,
which also leads the league.
80: Sophomore Richard Samuel scampered for an 80-yard TD in a win at
Arkansas. It was the longest rushing TD in an SEC game since 1997 when
Robert Edwards went 80 yards vs. Kentucky.
83: The number of plays South Carolina had against Georgia as the Bulldog
won a 41-37 shootout. It was the most plays by an opponent since 2001 when
Vanderbilt had 88 in a 30-14 Georgia win.
93: Georgia and Arkansas combined to score 93 points, the second most in a
regulation game in school history and fourth overall counting OT games. The
teams combined for 1,015 yards of total offense, the most since 2001 when
Georgia and Kentucky tallied 1,084.
100: Sophomore Brandon Boykin set a school and Sanford Stadium record
with a 100-yard kickoff return in the win over South Carolina. It was the
longest touchdown ever scored by a Bulldog “Between the Hedges.” He
finished with 187 yards on four returns, which ranks as the second best total
in school history. Boykin had a second 100-yd. KOR for a TD versus Tennessee making him the only player in SEC history to accomplish that feat
twice in one season.
252: Georgia set a school record with 252 kickoff return yards in the win
over South Carolina.
304: Led by Washaun Ealey’s career-high 89 yards, the Bulldogs racked up a
