HISTORY
In 1956, Woodstock was a glamorous Vermont vacation town. Famous for its quant New
England architecture, stunning natural beauty and the
Rockefeller connection that made it known around America and the world.
At 506 West Woodstock Rd, a local family built five cabins to rent to visitors on a beautiful
riverfront setting, minutes to the Village of Woodstock.
Fast forward sixty years and 506 On the River has been reborn as a boutique Inn. The stunning
setting remains, the beautiful grounds are unchanged, the Ottauquechee River still flows. The
cabins have been replaced with a beautifully designed Inn with only 30 rooms. Now you will
find premium beds, wifi throughout, the charming and stylish 506 bistro, bar & lounge coupled
with a full range of facilities.
What we have refused to do away with is the down to earth Vermont sense of
hospitality…no dress code here! The décor is a homage to Woodstock which is evident
throughout the Inn. A unique collection of original vintage
Woodstock newspapers dating back to 1802 adorn the walls, old milk crates are used as coffee
tables, a country kitchen serves a Vermont breakfast complete with
Maple syrup from our family farm. The hotel is full of vintage pieces,
which capture the unique character and magic of Vermont.

and a museum of Vermont's rural past – your gateway to
Vermont's rural heritage. Billings Farm features many aspects
of farm work, including care of the Jersey cows and other
livestock, milking of the herd, crop rotation, and feed
production. Get to know our Jerseys, sheep, horses, oxen,
and chickens through interactive programs and activities.
Explore the barns and calf nursery and watch the afternoon

and creamery, where butter was produced for market.
Interactive programs in the farmhouse for visitors and

butter production, and domestic life. Engaging exhibits
housed in 19th century barns depict the annual cycle of rural
life and work, as well as the cultural values of Vermont farm
families a century ago.

Plymouth, VT

Located in the tiny community of Plymouth Notch in the
beautiful hill country of Vermont, the house where he took
the oath of office was also Calvin Coolidge’s boyhood home.
Although he spent most of his adult life in Northampton,
Massachusetts, Coolidge often returned to the old homestead to visit his family. He never lost his fondness for
Vermont and its people. Famous for his honesty, thrift, and
taciturnity, “Silent Cal” restored confidence in government
after the Harding scandals and symbolized stability during a
period of rapid, disorienting social change. The Calvin
Coolidge Homestead District at Plymouth Notch preserves
many of the historic buildings that Coolidge knew in his
youth: his birthplace, his boyhood home, the church that he
attended, the homes of relatives and family friends, and the
hall above his father’s old store, which he used as his office
during the summer of 1924 and others. Coolidge and his wife
lie amid seven generations of Coolidge’s in the town
