TRAVEL THROUGH TIME WITH TUCKER
The year was 1972, Richard Nixon was just elected to a second term! Tucker Sno-Cat®
was promoting the Model 500-A and it was a big deal because it had wider rollers,
tracks, and the option of a front blade. The alpine ski business was still an important part
of the market for Tucker and the competitors were starting to move in quickly. The “A”
series also offered more glass and V-8 power.

When operating a tracked vehicle in shallow snow conditions there can be numerous hazards. Tucker SnoCat® vehicles are designed to operate in many soft ground applications other than snow, however
“shallow snow” conditions can be the most hazardous because of hidden objects such as stumps, logs and
rocks that could cause damage to the track system. Once the snow pack has become deeper than the penetration of the tracks these hazards become a non-issue. When operating in shallow snow conditions we
recommend to travel in low gear and at a slow speed whenever hidden hazards can be expected. Always
remove any hazards from the path of the tracked vehicle to avoid damaging the track system. The above
picture shows typical hazards that could be just under the snow.

MEET DOUG BIEGHLER
Doug was hired by Tucker Sno-Cat® Corporation in
July of 1986, he was hired to work in the Machine
Shop and has been there ever since. Doug grew up in
Southern Oregon and attended high school in Medford
where he was first exposed to a machine shop class
(the sheet metal class was already full). After high
school Doug joined the U.S. Navy Seabees where he
got more machining experience and a free tour of Vietnam. When his tour was up he came back home and
went to work for Power Transmission where he got a
lot of exposure to mechanical transmission (chain
drive ) products, seals, and bearings. Once the timber
industry began dropping off, Power Transmission
closed the Medford branch and Doug came to work
for Tucker. Doug really likes working in the Machine
Shop and feels fortunate to have his son Jason also working in that department.
Outside of work Doug likes his cars (nice street rod) and his ski boat. He and Jason also like to attend
motor sport racing events and play as much golf as possible.
