This remote British Columbian lakefront wilderness lodge is perfect as
a fishing retreat, B&B, floatplane outpost or family sanctuary. The
main building and four cozy cabins are placed on low bank lakefront.
Babine Lake is known for trophy wild Rainbow Trout and Sockeye salmon. The fishing is excellent and the wildlife viewing is utterly
spectacular.
Ookpik Wilderness Lodge is set on 7.63 acres with 900+ feet of lakefront property. It is the only
deeded property on Morrison Arm, Babine Lake. On the north side of property, Ookpik Cove
provides ample sheltered moorage for owners and guests. This protected cove also provides a
perfect mooring for floatplanes. The lodge is nestled in a remote wilderness setting, without
services. Electricity is provided on-site using a diesel generator. Internet and telephone service is
via a satellite connection.
Buildings and structures on the property include a main lodge building,
four cabins and outbuildings, including a gas house, wood shed,
generator house, shop, outhouses, footbridge and docks. The main
lodge and cabins are log construction on a wood post/concrete
foundation. The main building was constructed in 1984. The main
lodge features a large living room, formal dining room, kitchen and
breakfast dining area, pantry, guest bedroom and bathroom and
owner/manager’s large master bedroom including ensuite bathroom. Space heat is provided by
the fireplace and wood stoves. Water is gravity-fed and uses a pressure pump from a cistern. Hot
water is provided on-demand by a propane flow-through hot water heater.
Lodge guests are accommodated in four cabins. Construction is log,
founded on wood posts/concrete block. Roof covering is asphalt roll.
Each of the cabins has a private front deck overlooking the lake. Each
unit contains a maple rocker, two sets of birch built-in bunk beds, table
and chairs, kitchen cabinets with sink and wood heater. The lodge is for
sale fully furnished and equipped to function as a wilderness lodge. All
necessary furnishings are provided in the main lodge and cabins. The kitchen is fully equipped
with cooking equipment and utensils. China, flatware, glassware, etc. are provided for the dining
area. Cabins are furnished with beds, tables, chairs, pots, pans and dishes along with
miscellaneous furnishings and bedding.
A 300-foot long, 8-foot wide dock services Ookpik Cove. It was built
in 2002-03 and has been well maintained. There are also service docks,
one used as a barge, and the other to moor canoes and kayaks.
There are four boats in total, including three 20-foot Carolina wooden
dories for the use of lodge guests.

The property is currently accessible by boat or floatplane. Vehicle access possiable. Babine Lake is approximately 550 kilometres by air northwest of Vancouver. It is one of the world’s largest natural lakes measuring in at over 180 km long. The lake is bounded on the west by the Babine Mountains and on the east by the Takla Mountains. The lodge is accessed by a 30 minute boat ride from the small town of Granisle, located north of Topley on Hwy 16. Turning at the Hwy 118 junction, you will enjoy a 49 km drive of beautiful scenery. Moose and bear often frequent this route. Ookpik Wilderness Lodge is surrounded by Crown Land; a boreal forest with mixed stands of spruce, balsam fir, aspen and pine.
