IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THE 2016 TRIPLE BYPASS REQUIRED FOR THE TRIPLE BYPASS: All riders must be wearing the Triple Bypass wristband, helmet sticker on the front of the helmet and identification. Rider packets are color coded by Saturday, Sunday and the Double. Only riders with wristbands and helmet stickers with the correct color will be allowed on the course. COLORADO WEATHER - July is a beautiful time of year in Colorado, but weather conditions change drastically in the mountains from warm and sunny to very cold rain, sleet or even snow. PLEASE BE PREPARED FOR EXTREME WEATHER CHANGES. RAIN GEAR IS STRONGLY SUGGESTED! We also suggest getting an early start to help avoid the afternoon weather. In addition, we suggest all cyclists carry SUNSCREEN, LIP BALM, GLOVES, SHOE COVERS. TRAFFIC LAWS AND THE TRIPLE BYPASS -The Triple Bypass is a RIDE and NOT a RACE. Colorado is an exceptionally “cycling-friendly” state. However, Rules of the Road apply - “RIDE RIGHT”. This means yielding to traffic with rights of way, riding single file, obeying stoplights, stop signs and speed limits, and not riding recklessly or in a manner that endangers others. PACKET PICK UP – Packets should be picked up before the start of the ride at the location you selected when registering. Packets not picked up from the bike shop pick-up locations Denver, Boulder, Evergreen, Frisco and Edwards th area will remain at the stores until Tuesday July 12 . Riders who choose the “Start Line” pick up will be available Saturday at the start at Buchanan Park starting at 5:00am until 8:00am. On Sunday the “Start Line” pick up will be at th Nottingham Park starting at 5:00am until 8:00am. Any packets not picked up at the stores by Tuesday July 12 , will NOT be shipped. TRAINING PARTNER – Optimize Endurance Services has partnered with the Triple Bypass to help you prepare for the Triple Bypass. Nutritional and training advise can be found on our website www.triplebypass.org and check out “Training” OFFICIAL TRIPLE BYPASS MERCHANDISE – Primal Wear has created a series of great looking and functional Triple th th merchandise. If you order before April 8 , you will receive it before the ride in July. If you order after April 8 , you will receive your merchandise in mid September. GETTING TO THE START – From I-70 heading West– take Exit 252 onto Evergreen Pkwy (Colo. 74). Follow Evergreen rd Pkwy ~ 2 miles to Hwy 65 (the 3 stop light). Various parking lots are utilized in the Bergen Park/Evergreen vicinity. All lots allow overnight parking. Signage and parking attendants will direct you to parking or rider drop-off. Please be respectful of local businesses and homeowners. Parking is extremely limited. Team Evergreen strongly encourages carpooling or use the rider drop off areas. PLEASE NOTE: Packet Pickup is at Buchanan Park – at the northeast corner of Evergreen Parkway and Squaw Road. Please see attached map. START TIME: The Triple Bypass is a RIDE and not a Race. There is no official start time. We ask cyclists to start between 5:00am and 7:00am. Please be on the road by 8:00am in order to have aid station and SAG support. On Saturday, riders must have wristband visible to marshals be allowed to start on Squaw Pass. LUGGAGE TRUCK - One small soft-sided, bag can be transported from start and unloaded at the finish. Luggage Drop off signs will be located in Evergreen parking lots and Buchanan Park. In Avon, drop off spots will be at Nottingham Park, Vilar Center and the Seasons in Avon. Team Evergreen is not responsible for lost bags. Please Note: Once you have loaded your bag on the truck it will be transported to the finish. The bags are not attended. Please make sure your bag is identified with name and phone number. Please do not include valuable items or car keys in your bag. DOUBLE GEAR BAGS - Double riders will be provided an additional designated bag (in their packet) for drop-off mid-way at the Loveland Aid Station. Only Double Gear bags will be transported to Loveland Aid Station and then to the finish line. Bag drops for Double riders will be marked at the parking locations at the start. AID STATIONS: (Please refer to attached route map.) Aid stations will be stocked with water, Nuun hydration drink, Clif energy bars, oranges, bananas, bagels, muffins, PB&J sandwiches, pretzels and cookies. Loveland is the lunch stop and will have turkey, ham and cheese sandwiches pre-wrapped. Gluten free bread will be at the three middle aid stations. Riders must be wearing their wristband at each aid station to receive any provisions at the Aid Stations. Each Aid Station will have medical and mechanical support. Medical support will be available at all aid stations, however medical personnel will not be dispensing comfort medications such as: aspirin, ibuprofen or Tylenol. ALONG THE ROUTE: Squaw Pass - Riders are asked not to start until 5:00am to allow volunteers to get into their positions. On Saturday, a westbound road closure will be in effect from 5:00am -9:00am so personal support vehicles will not be allowed to go up Squaw Pass until after 9:00am. There is no road closure on Sunday. Note: there is no cell phone coverage on the top of the pass. Idaho Springs Road construction could be possible at Idaho Springs. Exit 240 will be closed to vehicles. More information on construction can be found on the Triplebypass.org website. Alvarado Road – On Saturday, the second aid station on Alvarado Road will be closed to vehicle traffic. Personal support crew can meet their riders in Idaho Springs or Georgetown. There is not a road closure on Sunday. Georgetown Rail Road – This is a private road heading up to the Georgetown Railroad on their busiest weekend. Please go single file up the hill and pay attention to the parking lot attendants. Prepare to stop, if directed. Loveland Pass – On both Saturday and Sunday Loveland Pass will be closed from 10:00am to 2:00pm to motorized vehicles. Only cyclists and official vehicles will be allowed on the pass. Colorado State Patrol will escort the hazmat vehicles eastbound on the half hour and westbound at the top of the hour. Personal support crew must display hangtag to access parking in Loveland Basin on Saturday and Sunday. Personal support crew vehicles will NOT be able to proceed up Loveland Pass and will have to take the Eisenhower Tunnel on I-70. This closure is for the safety of the riders. Note: there is no cell phone coverage on top of the pass. Luxury Loveland Pass – Feeling a bit tired approaching your second pass at Loveland? Take a break! Prestige Imports will take you and your bike to the top of Loveland Pass in luxury. Get yourself up that hill in a gorgeous Audi or Porsche from Prestige, wave to your friends, and get back on your bike at the summit on for a fast descent into Keystone. Look for the Prestige Imports flags in the Loveland Aid Station. Swan Mountain Road Closure - On Saturday, a westbound single lane closure of Swan Mountain Road between the hours of 11:00am and 2:00pm. The eastbound lanes will still be open to motorized traffic during these hours. Please obey all signs, flaggers and road marshals on the course, and watch for oncoming traffic, especially on the tight turns! Summit County Recreation Paths – That is exactly what they are – RECREATION Paths! Please go slow and expect a lot of weekend traffic - walking dogs, kids in wagons, runners and other cyclists. Proceed with caution and courtesy. Copper Mountain –Check out the Copper Mountain Music Festival, happening at Center Village during the ride. Great bands will be playing for free all day. This is a great place to meet your friends as you make your way to the final pass of the day. Vail / Lionshead Reroute /Avon– Please use caution going into the roundabouts and follow the directions of the law enforcement and course marshals. Prepare to stop. On both Saturday and Sunday there will be a detour onto the bike path at Lionehead, west of the main Vail roundabout to Vail Cascade. The reroute will be well marked with signage and course marshals. SAG SUPPORT – official SAG vehicles will be available along the route. SAG vehicles are identified with a green car flag on the back windows. SAG will only move you forward and take you and your bike to the next aid station for medical and mechanical assistance. PERSONAL SUPPORT “CREW”: Provided in the rider packet is “CREW” hang tag. Personal support vehicles MUST display “CREW” hangtag to park in designated parking areas in Evergreen, Loveland and Avon. 1) Clear Creek County will be allowing a limited closure of Highway 103 and non-local traffic will be restricted from this road. 2) Alvarado Road will be closed to through traffic; NO PARKING will be allowed at the Georgetown Aid Station. 3) Parking will NOT be allowed along US 6 in the vicinity of the Loveland Aid Station. Parking is available within the Loveland Aid Station parking lot. 4) Saturday Swan Mountain closed westbound from 11:00am to 2:00pm. 5) Crew Parking in Avon finish – take exit 171 Minturn– left off ramp onto Highway 6 –go 3 miles, at the third roundabout go straight thru Beaver Creek / Avon Road roundabout and Elk Lot will be on the left. CREW vehicles are encouraged to stop and enjoy the many things that Summit, Clear Creek and Eagle Counties have to offer. While your friends are riding, you’ll be enjoying the route in relaxing style. • • • • Be sure to enjoy a cup of coffee in charming Idaho Springs Stop by Epic Mountain Gear in Frisco (great deals for Triple support crews), for your next adventure Do a little shopping in historic Georgetown and the Silverthorne Outlets Listen to a great lineup of bluegrass at the Copper Mountain Music Festival. PLEASE PRINT THE ALTERNATE ROUTE INSTRUCTIONS FOR CREW VEHICLES LOCATED ON THE TRIPLE BYPASS WEBSITE www.triplebypass.org FINISH LINE FESTIVITIES – The finish area is at the upper field at Nottingham Park in Avon and Buchanan Park in Evergreen. No Dogs allowed. No marijuana allowed in the park. • • • • • Footer Catering will be creating a finish line feast post ride. There is something for everyone, vegetarian, gluten free and meat lovers! Your feast is included in your registration fee: additional meal tickets may be purchased for family or friends at the finish line for $20. Colorado Native Brewing – After completing the Triple enjoy a complimentary beer at the finish! Donations are appreciated. Official Merchandise – Order additional 2016 Official Merchandise at the Primal Wear tent in the expo area Triple Bypass Tent - will be selling prior year jerseys, Triple Bypass hats, T-shirts and other fun stuff too. Jersey exchange and lost and found will be located here. Only Start Line Rider packets will be available at the tent. Showers: Avon Recreation Center and the Buchanan Rec Center showers will be available Triple participants for $5 (includes a towel). MASSAGES: The Sports Massage Team will be returning to give their soothing massages at $40/half hour. PARKING and SHUTTLES • Parking in Evergreen – There are multiple areas to park in Evergreen. All allow overnight parking unless posted. There will be a sign with the lot name and a letter designated the parking area. Since they all look very similar, we suggest taking a photo on your phone of the sign so you remember where you parked. We will have volunteers with orange vests on directing you to parking areas. Portalets will be stationed at the parking lots and the majority will be at the start staging area at Buchanan Park at Highway 74 and Squaw Pass Road. • Overnight Parking in Avon – You may leave a car overnight in the Beaver Creek Elk lot, from Friday July 8 until Sunday July 10. Overnight parking elsewhere in Avon is prohibited • Parking in Avon/ Rider Pick Up - There is NO parking at the finish area. Crew Parking at Elk Lot – to avoid traffic, take the Minturn Exit 171. Left off the ramp onto Highway 6. Go 3 miles straight thru the roundabouts. After the third roundabout (Highway 6 and Avon Road), the Elk Parking Lot will be on the left. We ask all personal vehicles to park in the Beaver Creek Elk lot and either take the shuttle or walk to the Avon Rec Center for the finish. (See Avon map attached.) • Shuttle service back to start: Pro Bike Express will shuttle riders and bikes back to the start lines on Saturday, th July 9th from Avon back to Evergreen. And Sunday, July 10 from Evergreen back to Avon Elk lot. There is an additional cost of $85 and advanced reservations are required. To sign up for a shuttle go to Pro Bike Express reservations. www.probikeexpress.com • Beaver Creek Properties complimentary shuttle - for those of you who made reservations with Beaver Creek Properties, there will be a complimentary shuttle that will take you and your bike to check in as well as to your accommodations. Also included in your reservation is a free ride back to the start lines (Evergreen or Avon). • Evergreen Parking Shuttle – at the finish line in Evergreen there will be a shuttle bus that can take you and your bike to the parking lots. There is NO parking around the finish area and we ask all personal vehicles to park in the designated parking areas and shuttle over to the finish. Castle Court across from the Evergreen Fire Station is the closest walk. THANK YOU RIDERS !!! Team Evergreen Cycling is a non-profit organization.
