ALLEGHENY EAST CONFERENCE
ALLEGHENY EAST CONFERENCE CORPORATION OF SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTISTS JUNE 23, - JULY 3, 2016 CAMPER EDITION Dearly Beloved, I have been in great anticipation of your presence at Camp Meeting 2016 embracing the theme, “Go Tell It.” The signs of the times tell us that Jesus is coming soon. Wars, rumors of wars, earthquakes, 175-miles-per-hour winds, back to back floods, and political strife. As members of Allegheny East Conference we must do our part to let everyone know that time on this earth is coming to a close and we must let them know how they can get ready and stay ready. Therefore, Camp Meeting 2016 is all about evangelism – seat learning and street sharing. Yes, we will have sermons, and yes, we will also impact the Pottstown community to implement what we have learned. Our theme song proclaims our vision and our mission. (See page 7) We are praying that your awareness of the Lord’s soon return will be heightened and that you will be ready to tell others to look and live when you return to your local communities. On behalf of the Camp Meeting Planning Committee, we welcome you to this most awesome of spiritual events for the year. Relax and enjoy God in the many ways He will reveal Himself to you. Alfred Johnson Director of NAD Adult Ministries Every Member Ministry Read for This Week’s Study: Eph. 4:12, 2 Cor. 5:15–20, John 4:35–41, 1 Thess. 1:5–8, Acts 14:27 Memory Text: “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9, NKJV). Key Thought: Too often evangelism and witnessing are seen as the pastor’s job alone; this attitude is wrong. According to Peter, God’s people are chosen, called to be a “royal priesthood.” Because the priests were given a ministry, it follows that if we are called to the “priesthood,” then we have a ministry, as well. We must understand, however, that we are not called merely in order to perform a ministry. First and foremost God is calling us into a relationship with Himself, and it is out of that relationship that we are compelled to share with others the great things that God has done, and is doing, for us. This is at the heart and soul of personal witness. Each of us, therefore, has a personal ministry to perform, and it involves proclaiming the praises of Him who has called us “out of darkness into His marvelous light.” This week we will explore the concept of “every member ministry” and see how each individual experience contributes to the church’s corporate ministry. The point being that each of us has a role to play in the work of outreach and evangelism. Closing Prayer 14 Mrs. Sheryl G. Reeves AEC Administrative Assistant GO TELL IT... Biographical Sketches ORDINANDS PASTOR MEADE J. A. ADAMS Pastor Meade J. A. Adams has three goals in life: to be a faithful pastor and inspiring leader, to be a loving and dedicated husband to his wife, and be the best father he can be. Meade’s call to ministry was progressive rather than instantaneous. He always had a sense of God’s calling on his life but it wasn’t until attending Pine Forge Academy, from which he graduated in 2004, that he finally accepted. While at Pine Forge he served as the United Student Movement Religious Vice-President. He then obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion and Theology from Oakwood University (Huntsville, AL) and a Master of Divinity degree from Andrews University (Berrien Springs, MI). Pastor Adams has preached and presented all around the United States and abroad in Mexico and Tanzania. He is passionate about preaching and teaching the Word in a clear and straightforward way. One of his ministry goals is to help believers grow in Christ and learn what it means to be His disciples. Meade feels called to help believers understand that all are called to be disciples and disciple-makers and to equip them for this purpose. His formal ministry began in 2011 as Youth and Young Adult Pastor at the Dupont Park SDA Church in Washington DC. He currently serves as the pastor of the New Life SDA Church in Hampton, VA where he has grown the membership and revived the fellowship. In 2011, Pastor Adams was called to his greatest and first ministry as a husband when he was married to the love of his life, Shaina Tillery. Meade and Shaina are the proud parents of two daughters Eden and Zion and are expecting a son in July. Meade enjoys engaging in and watching basketball, football, playing guitar and harmonica, and composing poetry. At the end of his journey, he ultimately aspires to hear His Lord state, “Well done thou good and faithful servant; you have fought a good fight.” Allegheny East Conference 2016 CAMP MEETING 23 PASTOR TROY SOLOMON LEVY Pastor Troy Solomon Levy was born in Brooklyn, NY and was raised mainly on the East Coast by his pastoral family. More recently, Beth-El has added another worship service to accommodate a growing congregation. In addition to his pastoral duties, Pastor Levy has been consistently active in his community. He sits on the Board of Trustees for Pillar College in Newark, NJ and serves as a member of the school’s Public Affairs Committee. He also fulfills his love for religious teaching by functioning as an Adjunct Professor at Pillar College. Pastor Troy Levy’s main burden in ministry is to help people, especially young people, develop a true love for the Lord. He also desires to lead his parishioners in faithfully sharing the gospel with those who do not know Jesus. His favorite Bible text is Proverbs 9:10, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” 24 GO TELL IT... PASTOR JOSEPH V.
