Pallet Rack Charts
ADJUSTABLE PALLET RACK
Standard Box Beam
Ideal for the majority of warehouse storage applications,
Hi‑Cube pallet rack has a wide variety of specialized uses in
custom designed systems.
Each frame has two cold-formed columns 3 1⁄4" wide welded
together with horizontal and diagonal channel bracing.
Frames are available from 3' - 30' in height and 24" - 48" in
depth, with a standard duty of 22,000 Ibs. or medium duty of
29,000 Ibs. capacity, to suit your specific need. Beam levels are adjustable through the full height of the frame on 3"
increments. Top beam levels are set flush with the top of the
frame. Frames have a safety factor of 1.90.
Standard box beams are made of two identical “C”
channels interlocked and welded to end connectors. Standard beams are 1 1⁄2" and 1 3⁄4" wide, and up to 7" in depth,
and from 4' to 12' long. Factor of safety basis minimum
yield strength 1.60. Custom beams to suit you specific
needs are available. For capacities see the load chart
below.
Built-in Step Beam
Available with either 3⁄4" or 1 1⁄2" deep steps to suit
plywood, common lumber, or galvanized steel panels.

INTERLAKE BOLTED PALLET RACK
Interlock is a complete pallet
rack system that features
uprights with bolted columnto-strut-connections. Welded
upright connections are
restricted by nature, The
Interlock bolted upright system
allows you to easily modify,
reconfigure, or re-pair your
system when necessary.
A properly designed bolted
connec-tion offers the
same integrity as a welded
connection. The bolts used
in the Interlock system are
specially designed to remain
securely fas-tened after
installation, and require no
incremental maintenance over
the life of the rack system.
There are no sharp edges as
the Interlock de-sign locates all
upright hardware in recessed
channels.
Interlock addresses multiple
factors in the total cost of a rack
system. It is more cost effective
to manufac-ture, less expensive
to ship, easier to repair
and requires no additional
maintenance.

PLANNING
How to Select Uprights and
Load Beams
Upright Depth: Allow for 3" pallet overhang front and rear to
eliminate the need for critical pallet placement. For example:
use 36" deep uprights with 42" deep pallets.
Upright Height: Usually one pallet is stored on the floor and
one pallet high on each pair of load beams, including the
load beams at the top of the uprights.
There is no need for upright height to reach the top of the
top pallet load. For example: if you plan to store pallets four
high and the combined pallet, load and load beam heights
including clearance equal 40" for each pallet, you should use
10 ft. high uprights.

Beam Selection Guide
To determine beam span:
• Determine the width of the pallet or load, whichever
is greater, to be stored;
•Add 3" minimum clearance between upright frames and
pallet or load, whichever is greater;
•Add 4" minimum clearance between pallets or loads,
whichever is greater.
NOTE: Normally it is preferable to store at least two pallets
in width with 10" total minimum clearance.
If straddle type (outrigger) trucks are used, additional clearance may be required.
To determine beam capacity and type:
•Determine the weight of the load(s), to be stored on a pair
of beams;
•Using the span of the beam and total weight of the
load(s), determine the proper beam type from the beam
capacity chart.

Push Back Storage
INCREASED DENSITY.
Today’s challenge in warehousing is to store an ever increasing
number of pallets, with an ever increasing number of products in a
fixed storage space. These two factors pull in opposite directions.
Hi-Cube Push Back Storage increases the pallet count, while offering
more pick faces than traditional high density storage systems.

WHEN DOES PUSH
BACK APPLY?
When the average number of pallets
per product exceeds five, a push back
system is easily justified. The higher
the number, the deeper the lane is
feasible (usually 3 lanes per product
minimum). These multiple lanes allow
rotation to achieve first-in/first-out.
Hi-cube push back systems can be
configured to attain up to 100% more
pallets than standard pallet racking
and equal or greater increases over
poorly occupied drive-in floor storage
configurations.

right angle transfers, even powered gates; all standard. This

InterLok No-Bolt
side panels are
a one piece steel
panel welded along
both edges every
four inches to tee
posts. A welded one
piece panel adds
strength and rigidity
over bolt on side panels.
